Yeah, the whole angel thing with the story was really confusing. Apparently the angels were supposed to start breaking out of statues at the end of the story and spreading out into the city but... They didn't. Just didn't get to it in the story. Had to make space for Ob Nixilis to be bland in.
Having gotten back into MTG fairly recently, I visited the Prof's channel on an algorithmic whim and, in the week or so I've been watching his content, have learned more about Commander and Modern than I previously had in my three years of decently-active playing. There are, however, a great deal of reasons beyond that I keep coming back to Tolarian Community College; the staunch and reasoned consumer advocacy, the stalwart stodginess carried with enough self-awareness and genuine humor to morph into charm, the firm willingness to give credit where credit is due, the constant underpinning of sincere enthusiasm for the game and, of course, the Professor's recurring tendency to unhinge his entire jaw and swallow the latest Secret Lair whole. Also, through the wide array of guests and supporting members, I now have a far greater knowledge about the MTG content creators that exist in case I'd ever want to go into the Tolarian Expanded Curriculum. As I am not a Constructed player, I can't speak as to what cards I would like to play in Modern. However, at the upcoming prerelease hosted by my LGS, I'm hoping I can delve into the Cabaretti and potentially crack a few angels, or, if nothing else, just go wild with tokens with the new set's Large Cat Man. Between moving out of the city two years ago and the continuous spectre of Covid, I'm really looking forward to seeing the folks who used to hang around my LGS again. It's been too long, and I'm real glad to be back.

Apparently Soul of Emancipation is meant to be Giada ushering in the angels' return, hence the existence of angels other than her in the set. Probably would've been made clear in the story if they didn't try to cram a third of it into the last chapter.
Ever since they decided to cram everything into one single set, the story went to crap, everything needs to be set up and resolve in a single act. Pls, Wizards, do at least 2 sets per plane.

With cards like force of negotiation and counterspell running around, and my love of Esper control, I'll be picking up a couple copies of Void Rend to side for control match-ups
I think the cycle of creatures that can be exiled from your hand for two generic mana to turn any of your lands into a tri-land is at least worth an honorable mention. Especially if you run some way to copy the ability, as this isn't a land enchantment but an ability that targets the land once and then stays there until the creature is cast from exile.
