I've seen an all-Chinese band from Beijing called 'The Timely Band' do this song in 1988-89 and did very well and very animated with strong rhythm section including drums worthy of a country dance hall.
Sitting in Austria listening to an american song played by a talented chinese band! Unthinkable at the time when I (now 54) was as young as the band members!
I love them! I live in the southern Blue Ridge Mountains. They can come over tomorrow afternoon for some barbecue, Brunswick stew, green beans and sweet Ice Tea!
Well that was fun. I really enjoyed their version of this Hank Williams classic. I didn't know what an erhu is until now, but I liked its sound and the talent it takes to play this instrument. Everything was just great. Double-thumbs up to this group.
I loved it but wish I could have seen some smiles knowing they were enjoying making the music as much as I was enjoying listening to it. Did love the erhu too! Added a really nice touch.

A wonderful version of Jambalaya! The singer has very good English diction, actually she is a lot more understandable than John Fogerty in the CCR version. Great job by all the musicians, I hope they continue to follow their dreams!

The instrument that most gets my attention in this rendition is the erhu. It sounds so much like the violins of the early days of the Wild West. If anyone knows the erhu, they would know it sounds nothing like any western instrument. And yet, it works here while still retaining its own very distinctive sound.
This is amazing. Even more amazing to me is the girl playing the instrument with a bow. That thing has no frets and yet she hits every note perfectly. Awesome!

BETSY is so sweet in her humble personality when performing, but not to confuse her singing that is actually very nice because of her melodic voice that comes with a gentle mellow tremolo that can easily be accepted to anyone's hearing... BETSY, don't stop your singing for you bring pleasure to people...

im 80 years old been listening to country r/roll sinatra this group is just fab.great lead voice the sounds that fiddle player got were magical.will watch out for more.
The Erhu is now one of my favorite instruments. So much sound from just two strings. I live in the Ozarks where bluegrass music is more popular than any other music genre and this group does some of the best. I hope they do more. Keep up the good work, Eric!

chinese ehru is usually for playing melodramatic melodies - one of the famous example is the Butterfly Lover Concerto - ehru's counterpart is the violin which the Butterfly Lover Concerto was originally written for ( see youtube - ruclips.net/video/tu5XohUR3Pg/видео.html&start_radio=1 --------------- this video also shows the chinese counterpart of the trumpet as well )

That's how infectious American culture is. Here in the Cordilleras in northern Philippines, most of our people are lovers of American country music for decades now since the Americans established Camp John Hay in Baguio city.
