I've seen an all-Chinese band from Beijing called 'The Timely Band' do this song in 1988-89 and did very well and very animated with strong rhythm section including drums worthy of a country dance hall.
I love them! I live in the southern Blue Ridge Mountains. They can come over tomorrow afternoon for some barbecue, Brunswick stew, green beans and sweet Ice Tea!
It's propaganda. Just look at their faces. China trying to show they are better than us at our own culture. Too bad they totally missed the point of bluegrass being raw an unhinged. Respect to the lady on the Uhru thing tho.
The instrument that most gets my attention in this rendition is the erhu. It sounds so much like the violins of the early days of the Wild West. If anyone knows the erhu, they would know it sounds nothing like any western instrument. And yet, it works here while still retaining its own very distinctive sound.
Saw the title, "Chinese Bluegrass" and had to see for myself. And "Son of a Gun", I was pleasantly surprised! The band plays great and the singer has a beautiful voice
Sitting in Austria listening to an american song played by a talented chinese band! Unthinkable at the time when I (now 54) was as young as the band members!
A wonderful version of Jambalaya! The singer has very good English diction, actually she is a lot more understandable than John Fogerty in the CCR version. Great job by all the musicians, I hope they continue to follow their dreams!
How 'bout that? Blue grass music from China. That was a beautiful performance by the singer and blue grass band. Singer has a nice calm soft voice. You all make Hank Williams proud. Thank you very much for sharing.
Well that was fun. I really enjoyed their version of this Hank Williams classic. I didn't know what an erhu is until now, but I liked its sound and the talent it takes to play this instrument. Everything was just great. Double-thumbs up to this group.
I loved it but wish I could have seen some smiles knowing they were enjoying making the music as much as I was enjoying listening to it. Did love the erhu too! Added a really nice touch.
@@ericshi2472 Too solemn, a little smile from time to time, feel the music, feel what you sing and it will be perfect, good job, sorry for my constructive criticism.
