I'd like to add a few things, as someone who has lost their mind figuring this out: 1. There is a placement bug when it comes to corner pieces, that prevents you from adding onto them. The best way to avoid this is to lay out your ENTIRE base before building it. Do not expect that you will be able to place new AI turrets later, despite being able to place the blueprints earlier. The second best way to avoid this bug is to ensure that all the corner pieces share the same axis, and you build the corner turrets BEFORE you build the turrets between them. If you accidentally build the sections between the corners first, you will not be able to add more bunker pieces to the corners. This problem has lost me a base, because I could not fix it before the enemy reached it days later. 2. Do not build a backline/storm cannon base UNTIL your team is less than a day out from unlocking bunker supplies. Rotting bases waste resources, and you cannot out repair the rot on your own. On a front line it doesn't matter, because people are repairing the base all the time, and thus reset the rot timer. If you need defenses for scrapping/logistic areas before garrison supplies or bunker supplies unlock, I suggest building a FOB instead of a BOB. It's far easier to repair/replace foxholes than it is bunker pieces. Note that the FOB itself does not need garrison supplies, just the defenses linked to it. 3. The fastest way to supply your base is to utilize several factories from different regions. Typically, you need one truck with 1500 bmats to create enough bunker supplies to last your base a couple days. You will need at least five factories and three laps to these factories to convert all the bmats to bunker supplies in a timely fashion. If you want to give your bunker base other types of supplies, use of the mass production facility is recommended so that you save your team resources. 4. Calculating the cost of the base beforehand will save you the hassle of making multiple salvage trips while your base is still vulnerable. Create a private reserve stockpile (but make sure the supplies don't sit inside too long). If you are giving up on a build project, be sure to release your Reserve Stockpile. 5. DO NOT MAKE BUNKER SECTIONS TOO LARGE. There is a mechanic in the game where, if your bunker base has too many sections without any trenches to separate them, the overall structure is weaker. You can check structural integrity by entering the upgrade mode with a hammer and mousing over a bunker structure without going into the upgrade menu. It will take a few seconds, and then it will tell you the builder's name, the health of the structure, whether or not the individual piece has generator piping (which is needed for Storm Cannons along with Generators), and the structure's integrity. If the structure's integrity is 'Critical', it means it is EXTREMELY easy for the enemy to destroy. This doesn't matter too much if you see it at the T1 stage, but in general you DO NOT want to make bunker sections that are over seventeen pieces (I.E. a 3-by-3 octagonal circle with turrets attached). Otherwise, the structure will be too weak. The absolute upper limit, I heard, is twenty-four. Beyond that point, it will not take much at all to destroy the structure, even with T3 cement. Before the zero structure damage nerf to bullets, there was a base next door to mine that had SIXTY-FOUR pieces connected together. There were literally no trenches. A single enemy was able to destroy the entire structure with a few pistol rounds, despite it being T3 cement. I suspect that, even with the nerf, it would take one or two grenades to achieve a similar result. That's 4,800 bmats down the drain for minimum effort by the enemy, not counting the cement and all the components that cost, as well as the supplies inside the base. I will say it did not destroy the whole base necessarily, it destroyed everything within render distance of the shooter. Which might as well be the whole base.
one thing i'd like to know too is when the perfect time to build a base is. should we build bases preemtively or build them at the front when shit is already going down?
New doubt when I eventually get on to this game I'm probably going to make an underground Labyrinth I'm basically going to go full WWI with my bunker complexes

Thanks Helping Hans, I think I understand enough to build my first base though I know there is so much more to learn. What about building trenches in a zigzag pattern like they did in WW1 so that an enemy who got in the trench wouldn't have a clear line of fire also because of Artillery, although I'm not sure about artillery being the reason why they were in zigzag. Would that be good in Foxhole or would tanks cause too much of a problem and maybe as a game it just doesn't work out for some reason. Just asking cause I hav'nt seen anybody build trenches like that.
Wish I found this video two weeks ago XD Would have saved me a lot of hassle finding everything out myself. Still learned some new things from your video. Especially the lay out is something I'm going to use for my next base to start of with.
Hey, I just started playing and have a silly question. You mentioned if you have a small group of players that are going to build a bunker base do it in a safer location. Why would you need to build your own bunker base rather than just use one already built? The time it takes for it when you could just have a private stash at a built one doesn't seem worth it especially if your going to build in the backlines. Thanks in advance.
I would not suggest the standard player to build one for themselves. Bunker bases are more of a team effort usual built to hold strategic locations or to push up the AI on a front line and reduce the time it takes to get reinforcements forwards.
