    My heart just expanded to a size I can't hold. I feel terrible for what these men have gone through.

    @Steeveriffic: soldiers during WWI who were sent to psychiatric stations for rehabilitation were actually not sent back to the front. They were typically prepared for reintroduction to civilian life through agricultural work and handicrafts on rural farms and were expect to do their "duty" by resuming productive lives at home. Psychiatrists widely believed that symptoms of war neurosis, as it was called, were contagious and therefore dangerous for healthy soldiers to witness.

    The sad part is....how many other soldiers were shot for "cowardice" after finally breaking after months and months of uninterrupted trench warfare?

    My Father often spoke of a CATATONIA victim from WW II. The poor man, was hospitalized until he died.

    If you don't mind me asking, where did you access these pieces of footage and any accompanying records from? Many thanks for uploading these invaluable extracts.

    I was in the national guard. An artillery unit. It doesn't take much to get a twitch from hearing cannons go off. Just being next to a 155mm cannon going off, one weekend ever other month for 3 years is all it took I can't go to a fireworks show because it makes me twich when I hear an explosion. You can get PSTD in the militarily just from training. You don't even need combat for that. Just listening to cannons and machine guns can do it.

    This was so tramatic. I doubt they cured their souls but only the tremors they had... This makes me so sad for them. I hope they were able to find peace either here on earth or in the after life.

    I think it refers to being covered by dirt after an explosion or trench collapse?

  • @irishdecky2
    @irishdecky2 13 лет назад +1

    @kentaur69 Thank you. I thought that, but then wondered if it was a medical term. These videos only show those who were cured, imagine the thousands who were incurable.

    @hotelmario510. These men risked their lives for our country,and your laughing?It's not a laughing matter. Not "Funny-weird" nor "Funny-ha ha". They were treated as freaks,outsiders, like they didn't have emotions,as if they hadn't suffered the worst years of their lives.It's sick that you would even say stuff like that. PTSD is serious, alongside all the other traumatic things they suffered. So many of their friends and families couldn't bare the sight of them after this and you're laughing?

    What's "re-education" means? Electroshock? Because the time spent for "re-education" is so small compared to the starting problem.

    • @gunnar6674
      @gunnar6674 Год назад +1

      They were in a trench or dug-out that were hit with artillery or for some other reason got buried, and had to be dug out of there, as far as I understand.
