It's really simple really :) We deduced that a big bang existed mainly because everything we saw was moving away from us and each other. If the sky is empty and there's no movement, how do you asume an explosion occurred? :)

The video doesn't assume that aliens in Milkdromeda are stupid. They assume that the people on earth don't exist, and we're not there to tell future aliens what we know today. Think of hide and seek, where everyone gets ahead start and hides. Well, in this scenario, all the galaxies get a head start, and they hide by never stop moving away from you, and since they can move faster than the speed of light, the light that they emit is moving away from you and toward you at the same time. Eventually, the future aliens won't be able to see that light, and they will think that the only thing that exists is the light from heir own galaxy. That's my understanding.

That wasn't humanity, it was just a new species. Since they will be born into a dark universe with nothing they can detect, the only thing they would think is that _that_ little galaxy is the whole universe.

Even for us humanity. In many millions of years, everything can happen. We aren't even that old as a species. We could go through many global disasters that only leave a handful of humans left. Or we could go extinct, and after a very long time Earth could develop intelligent life again. There's so much that can happen in this time. So many scenarios, and the only scenario where they would know our knowledge is the best one, if we decide to become rational beings that think about their actions in relation to the future and the whole of humanity. As you know, we're mostly doing the opposite.

Exactly what I thought. I suppose if we somehow colonise another solar system, but even then that would probably be wiped out too.
As it is it's hard to see this species even lasting as long as those those have lasted longer on earth. Because what we call intelligence has actually seemed a barrier for us evolving further in the short run. We developed to colonise the Earth very well but not to consider the longer and wider view of things.

It will be similar to what we thought a 100 or more years ago ,that our galaxy is an island universe. We cant see the other galaxies receding away from us no matter how powerful our telescopes become. Because those other galaxies are receding faster than the speed of light, so no photons to observe . Also the CMB will not be visible/ detectable . Some say it may be the case now that we have lost access to important information about the universe and it may be much larger, or even that cosmic inflation never ended and will never end.

We know about big bang because of relic background radiation, but because space and time continue expanding faster and faster it will reach and overcome speed of light so no radiation will be able to make it to us anymore cause space and time expanding faster.

I am seeing this too late.
Anyways, as for your question about why wouldn't the humans from billions or trillions of years ago, not be able to understand the info we have, I think he meant most peeps in the video.
Think about it like this.Apart from scientists,a very little amount of people read documentaries. What we see, at best, is the night sky and educational fun videos like kurzt's.
At such a distant point in time, the existence of a place as big as a universe will be equivalent to the existence of gods in our times.
Yeah, we have books and tales talking about them. And there are billions of people believing they exist.
But we don't have a scientific way to prove that those tales are true.Maybe they are true and not just our ancestors' free time imaginations but if we have no way to actually witness it,most of us won't believe it.We would much rather focus on what we can perceive and through time, slowly but surely, only the local group alone will be perceived as the "observable universe." or universe for most of them.
If I had to give a better example rather than gods, I would think about multiverses.
I don't remember the exact theory but quantum science does theoretically say that if someone moves in one direction at the needed speed(not just light speed) until all possible ways in which you can arrange particles is exhausted, things will start repeating.
In simpler terms, you will enter a new universe.Hence there can be multiverses.
A lot of religious texts talk about multi verses just not in terms accepted by OUR SCIENCE.
And with no way to prove or disprove it, multiverse remains just a comic book fantasy.
Scientific theories unless can be continuously proven will always lead to people not believing them. You can only ever disprove those people's arguments by showing them.
Kurtz implies that we will reach a point where it would be impossible to do so except in books.Hence it ends up as nothing more than an older gen's theory at some point.
And then gets even more deteriorated as the civilization would focus on things it can prove.
Eventually, the current scientists' writings would be seen as nothing more than free time imaginations and even those who do believe them, will be seen as just cults.

True, it seems like even if they couldn't observe the remnants of the Big Bang far in the future, that knowledge would have been passed down.

Well the expansion is accelerating, so in the future it might get strong enough to detect in experiments shielded from gravity. Also if it keeps accelerating someday gravitational-bonds within our galaxy won't be strong enough and the stars will start shifting out of reach and we will lose access to other star system. After that the gravitational-bonds within our solar system won't be strong enough and we will be limited to our planet( we will most definitely die out at this point. After that the bond between molecules won't be strong enough. After that the bonds between atoms. Then the bonds holding electrons to the atoms. Then the bonds holding the nucleus together. And at last the bonds between the quarks which make up neutrons and protons, etc.and the universe will consist of countless quantum particles separated by ever growing distances unable to share Information. Forever.
There you go with your daily dose of existential dread. XD

    • @OzoneTheLynx
      @OzoneTheLynx 6 лет назад +2

Unless of course the acceleration would slow down at some point, or some of our understanding of the universe is wrong, or we find a way to escape our universe or faster than light travel, etc.
