      Will do. I'm actually the most me in these rambling videos, in those shorter ones I try to be all concise and to the point. It's good practice though, I really suck at telling everything I wanna tell with as few words as possible, it's the other way around haha.

    Have you considered a build to see how many people you could have under the Geas spell? I had one theory crafted. Sorcerer/wizard multiclass. They had 19 uses per day if you factor in sorcery point shenanigans and arcane recovery. Could build up a story about challenging townsfolk to overcome the spell with the promise of gold as a reward. That way its more like gambling than slavery.

    I love your videos! The detail you put into creating these monstrosities while still keeping in thematic is amazing for a min/maxer and thematics style player. Do you do build requests/suggestions?

      Glad you enjoy it!I do take ideas from community from time to time, but build requests are a perk for my patrons, so I usually let them decide via polls and whatnot.

    According to some lore video i saw. the shadow blade spell it's an ilusion spell that draws it's energy from the shadowfel, that interacts funnily with ilusions, making them more real.

  • @arsov9885
    @arsov9885 3 года назад +1

    I dissagree. There is a sense in Shadow Blade spell being a illusion spell. It deals psychic damage. In the substance there is no a thing in spellcasters arms but the sentient being feels the opposite. Bt this is my oppinion. Still I have to say it's quite nice character build. Thanks for an idea. For the narration and role-playing purposes Shadar-Kai is even better. You can go with this Shadowfell vibe fully all over.
    Average Monster’s Saving Throws:
    • STR: 2.816
    • DEX: 2.003
    • CON: 3.346
    • INT: -0.439
    • WIS: 1.816
    • CHA: 0.866

      Yeah, that's why Tasha's Mind Whip is so good, it targets the generally weakest save and ruins action economy.

    Correct me if I'm wrong but weapon bond is good if your forced into using ranged weapons. Summon a bow throw and throw your shadow blade. Next turn take a few shots summon sb back to yourself and yeet it again.

    wait... does booming blade's extra damage on movement trigger if you hit it with a sentinel attack, reducing its speed to zero? i kinda thought it was one or the other, not both.

    • @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking
      @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking  4 года назад +3

      The movement damage doesn't trigger with Sentinel, no. Just the extra damage from the cantrip itself (1d8 lvl5, 2d8 lvl11, 3d8 lvl17).

    • @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking
      @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking  4 года назад +2

      Oh, I just realized what the real question was. My above answer is 100% wrong.
      By RAW, War Caster allows you to cast a spell instead of making an opportunity attack. Sentinel's 0 movespeed thing procs off of opportunity attack. Since Boominf Blade is a spell, it doesn't trigger. The enemy can keep moving to take all the additional Booming Blade movement damage.

    • @jarbuthn
      @jarbuthn 4 года назад +1

      @@DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking actually i think you had it right the first time, if you hit them on an AoO their speed drops to zero and cannot trigger the movement damage, even if they trigger your reaction by attacking an ally. that said, the 1d8 thunder damage on hit (@5th level) still applies so its more effective as a reaction than as a normal attack action 'cause you only get one swing.
      /shug whatever... 5e can be fidly with language sometimes and thats only fun for rules lawyers. "Oh, so you you've finished your degree in Rules Law then? Congratulations!" /grin

    • @miltonchung5944
      @miltonchung5944 4 года назад +2

      @@jarbuthn RAW, you're casting a SPELL as a reaction that happens to involve a melee attack rather than using an Attack of Opportunity, so the Sentinel feat's 0 speed feature would not activate on that attack since it technically is not an Attack of Opportunity.
      Also, I think the Sentinel feat's wording (When a creature within 5 feet of you makes an attack against a target other than you (and that target doesn't have this feat), you can use your reaction to make a melee weapon attack against the attacking creature.) technically means it's not an Attack of Opportunity, it's just a regular attack that takes place with your reaction.
      Obviously, in practice it varies for every table.

  • @MAISValorantDante

    Well I loved the build, but I think a STR based Eldritch Shadow is more eficient. Shadow Blade is a finesse that you MAY chose to use your dexterity modifier. Picking STR means that you will have a better AC and you can pick heavy armor master instead of medium and be tankier. Have said that, I think DEX is much more stylish than STR so I would rather do a dex character anyways LUL

    • @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking
      @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking  4 года назад +3

      It took me almost a month to go with a DEX build in the end. I think that Stealth comes in handy, so many times have I found myself ringing like a cowbell in my platemail while everyone else is trying to sneak past the enemies.

    I think you could also, if going the elf, push you den start to 17 and take elvin accuracy. You can easily get adv. with dim light

    • @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking
      @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking  4 года назад

      That was one of the variants for this character, I ultimately decided 1 extra feat on level 1 looked better on paper to me. You can't go wrong with elf either though, but Elven Accuracy is a bit overrated sometimes, I've seen it enough times by now to know that, sometimes, your attack roll will miss even with the coveted "super-advantage", and, in that case, the statistics don't matter that much to you, especially if the enemy pummels you to the ground in return.

    i use this build with mounted combat feat. i basically can always get advantage via my familiar my mount or my shadow blade. love living life on the edge with this build. action surging blink mirror image, shadow blade. and watch the dm waste all his action economy trying hit me. i multiclass into wizard instead of edtrich night so i can get that portent. make sure i get several hits off with that shadow blade while its active

    • @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking
      @DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking  3 года назад

      I've been thinking about Bladesinger a lot now that Tasha kinda fixed it in a way. Still sad Shadow Blade + Booming Blade combo is not legal any more though.
      Portent is stronk on anything. One of the most ridiculous level 2 mechanics in the game.
      Still kinda pales in comparison with Star Druid and Artificers being able to auto-pass most/all Concentration saving throws lol.

    Ive got a question, is this legit?
    Aasimar Champion fighter with 20 Con. = Sun does 20 radiant dmg(Aasimar has resistance to radiant dmg, reduces it to 10) and Champion heals 10 hp(with 20 Con.) below half hp at lvl 18 from Survivor, does that means that I can walk in sunlight at the cost of being at half hp,conquering the sun?

      I have one half-baked idea involving a specific Fighter subclass. It's not that good though, but maybe I'm just imposing too high expectations of myself. I've noticed you people do in fact appreciate when I make more... normal characters as well. Maybe I just need to start doing that. I just feel like if it's not ridiculous in some way (this character certainly isn't that ridiculous in any way), then it's not video-worthy...

      @@DarthBoberEXMinMaxMunchking Here is what I have thus far max level proficiency bonus is +6 if you have expertise you get a +12 bonus. If you have max wisdom 20 you have a +5 bonus. So that is +17 for the check and 27 for passive score. Now take the observant feat for another +5 to passive perception. 32 for passive score. Raven queen warlocks get to add their charisma mod to the checks and to the passive score so assuming max charisma that would be +5. 37 passive score. Sentinal shield gives advantage on perception which is a flat +5 bonus for passive score. 42 passive score. Now finally 6 levels in dreams druid and you get a +5 bonus to passive perception while resting. My total is 42 normally and 47 while resting. I have been trying to get higher, but haven't yet been able to.
