    great comparison, at $120 Behringer is a good option, maybe the best in that bracket, even versus some AKG, if you can invest a bit more in your sound go Rode NT-1

  • @FantasticF113

    This was a brilliant, no BS review. I might be imagining it, but I'm sure I can hear a slight difference. The nt1a seems more even and balanced. The TM-1 didn't seem to compress the input - so there were some sharp highs and lows. Maybe this could be fixed in post. Full disclosure, I own the Rode nt1a, I bought it 2nd-hand and I'm generally happy with it.

      I heard that as well, I heard less sibilance from the NT1a I use a NT1A for most of my recordings rap singing vocals even instruments I also can switch up with my other microphone which is a studio projects C-1 which is also very good Mic but I think overall my cheapest Mic the NT1a I’d say is actually better than all the expensive Mics I’ve owned.

    Currently have a Manley and a C414 XLII, I’ve been using a new NT1A quite a bit and love it. Honestly don’t get why so many ppl hate on it, you can correct shrillness with an eq and siblince isn’t a big issue either. I’d probably recommend a solid pre for extra warmth, I’m currently running it through an ISAone

    If you are not into or able to spend lots of money for a mic, 8 times out of 10 the rode nt1a will be a cheat code for you. Very pro-sounding and quiet for a condenser.

  • @WhyName
    @WhyName 2 года назад +1

    The shock mount on the behringer has a bit of a design flaw. The part that the pop filter is attached to rests against the center, which is supposed to be isolated.
    This can cause transfer of unwanted vibrations, but can be fixed by twisting the center off axis a little.

  • @fnswrestling
    @fnswrestling 3 года назад +2

    I didn't notice much difference for spoken word, but when you sang, I thought the Rode had superior clarity. Still, for half the price, the Behringer is solid for sure.

    I own the Behringer Touch One Universal Control Surface and the ultra cheap U-PHORIA UMC202HD interface, so I really don't consider myself biased or hating on Behringer when I say this:
    The Behringer TM1 certainly sounds decent/good for the money you pay for it, but the Rode NT1-A seems to have slightly better dynamics, less pop sounds and crisper/open highs along with better build quality. These days you can almost get the NT1-A bundle for the same price as the TM1 at places like Thomann. Because the price gap is so small (at the moment I'm writing this), I would go for the NT1-A, there's really no competition when they are so close in price range :)

    PreEQ the TM1 to match the NT1a and you could'nt hear a diff anymore (a measured correction).
    Other question: What parts are made in Australia for the NT1a? Capsule? Electronics? Body? ... and yes, Rode got good quality control and is still reasonable priced.
    Both are good mics, if no EQ is possible, the NT1000 is best, then the NT1a.

    If there's one piece of studio equipment you DON'T want to cut cost on it your microphone. I love my NT1-a. It's totally impressed everyone who has used it. I've had quite a few people tell me that they got better recording quality in my camper studio than they did in top dollar studios. It's really mostly the mic. 10 - 15 years ago microphones with the quality of the NT1- a were only seen in major studios. In the 90s a mic like that would probably cost around $3000.

    • @bennettshapiro2965
      @bennettshapiro2965 3 года назад +3

      If you don't want to cut cost on your microphone, why are you running a $230 microphone instead of a $2300 microphone?
      That's as fast as I've ever heard anyone contradict themselves.

    • @integritybeats
      @integritybeats 3 года назад +1

      @@bennettshapiro2965 Well, if the difference in price between two pieces of equipment is miniscule; the microphone is too important to sacrifice noticeable quality to save a few bucks. In my studio my budget allowed for a microphone in this price range. I went with the rode which, in turn, left less money to spend on other essential studio items. Consequently, having less money to spend on equipment, would undoubtably limit the quality of any proposed item thereafter. I am simply suggesting not to try to save pennies on the dollar for a microphone and to get the best one someone's budget might allow.

    • @CircleofShit
      @CircleofShit 2 года назад

      @@bennettshapiro2965 Lets be serious and pragmatic, who the hell can afford a $2300 microphone (and who wants to spent that amount!) if you are a budding up and coming singer etc? Seriously, the Rode NT1A is a fantastic microphone, and with all the plug ins and EQ's you can get, it will sound just as good as the expensive mic, that's if you even think the more expensive one sounds better. Think what you could buy with $2300 instead. A Rode NTA-1 mic, a guitar, monitor speakers etc. I mean if you are well off and have the cash, buy whatever you like.

    I've had my NT1-A for over 15 years and it still sounds and works great. With the "really good" vocal mics somewhere up in the four figure range, the NT1-A has traditionally been the "budget" good vocal mic. At a little over $200, it's still a steal. I think it's worth the extra money, personally - no matter how good your studio gets, you'll always have room for it and no one will turn their nose up at it. Behringer screams "I'm cheap." In the long run, I'd go with the Rode because you won't outgrow it.

    Perhaps someone here knows the answer
    Behringer is a company that is notorious for making cheap Chinese knock-offs and flagrantly slipping around copyright law.
    1. Why are they not universally dispised for this practice?
    2. Behringer seem to be able to produce quality budget gear for a market leading price.
    Why do they not try to produce their Own Original ideas and make a name for themselves that is not synonymous with copyright infringement?
    I think they could do good things.
