- Hey peeps. This is a simple DIY Ankara satin bonnet for you to try your hands on. Satin bonnets are increasingly becoming popular and great for keeping your hair healthy. You can use any fabric of your choice.
I did this tutorial while back but never got the chance to post it and at a point, I didn't realise the video had stopped. All the same, the tutorial is still straight forward but message me if you have any questions.

Thanks for sharing. I learned the hard way that when you wear the bonnets, pull them down a little way before your eyebrows. The way you wear it, the elastic is on your edges and they will get damaged eventually from the friction. Even if you tie your head with a head tie to sleep, tie it low on your forehead to protect your edges.
Wouldn't it damage your eyebrow hair?

Please how can i measure someone's head to make a bonnet??
Measure the circumference of the head...all the way around with a tape measure, the average sized are between 21 and 24 inches
Do you know how many inches the circle was when you were drawing it with the chalk?
Its 24 x 24 inches but you can leave half an inch allowance.

What are the measurements for the small and medium.
Is the elastic length one size fit all?
I tend to stick to one size but if you are making it for yourself then you can put the elastic around your head. Stretch it and see how tight is comfortable. You can then add half an inch to 1 inch to make allowance when it's fitted inside the fabric. Hope that helps

What size is that one?
this is a medium. the circle is24 x 24 inches. I had to do try and error till I got to that size.

Am good thanks. Estimate the cost of the cotton fabric & satin and other indirect materials (it can be tricky if it's the first time). You will then decide how much you want to charge for your labour. Compare prices of the bonnet with others on the market that will give you a realistic idea.
