I love there's no sponsored ads, that you're humble, and have a fighting spirit. Keep growing, my dude. You're doing awesome! All of the big web dev youtubers are too busy reviewing mechanical keyboards while you're out here giving us real world scenarios, please don't change!
Hey man, as fellow self-taught veteran (Army) going into Web Development, I appreciate all your content! I retire next year and have secured a 4 month internship during my final months before retirement as a Front-End Developer Intern at a marketing agency. I'm really excited. Though I'm not as experienced as you, I do have some opinions concerning your portfolio site. 1. I'd recommend setting a max width on your content. I'm running a 3440 x 1440 ultrawide monitor and your page spans the entire width, minus the Projects sections. 2. I've heard this from many many many developers to not have a "skill scale" on your page. While it looks cool in concept, it pretty much shows potential employers your limitations right out the gate and could potentially turn them off. It's better to just list your known skills and, if asked, you can explain the depth of your knowledge. I hope I didn't come off as critical, I just wanted to share what I could to help. Keep up the good work, and I definitely subscribed!
Congrats getting your internship and making it to retirement! I appreciate the tips, I know my portfolio needs a re-haul now lol. There was so much that I didn't know at the time.
i started my software developing path about 2 weeks ago... im hella new to this but i have 8 years of experience as a 3d modeler/computer graphics, the programming community rivals the art community and its very exciting! and honestly in terms of financially the Art world is a barren wasteland compared to software, im already seeing so many more situations of entry level jobs and career paths within this world, thanks for the perspective as a new developer ! hopefully one day thatll be me = )
@@The-Sumerian im about halfway done with my first version of a javascript chat bot currently, ive slowed down on general computer science studying and focused on slowly improving my bot line by line, im planning on getting a cs degree eventually maybe later this year as i keep pursuing software and building apps for fun. my bot works rn its just kind of dumb still lol, i have alot of ideas on how to get it smarter tho

I also got the Javascript course on udemy from Angela yu.. trying to do thw Odin project I'm trying to run xubuntu on my VMware..
Do you think that program your coworker made could have been made in JS? Also glad to see your progress. Working on The Odin Project and reached the JS section in the Foundations curriculum. Ps can you make a video on how it's like to work remotely? Is there a lot of meetings? I heard Devs have stand up's and 2 wks sprints. Would love to see a video on the work culture

Can't go wrong with Dr. Yu - she is an amazing teacher - wish you the best man
Best of luck on your journey! Angela is a solid teacher, I bet her js course is amazing.

Yea I would assume it could be made in JS, but I would have to look into how to do it.
And thats a great idea for content! I'll add it to the queue!
Awesome!
Nice.
Hey Michael, have you looked into Google certificates? I’m wondering on whether or not I should continue the Odin project.
I have not, it wouldn't hurt to get one. But you'll still run into the issue of having to stand out from everyone else who's doing the same thing
Couldn’t you have used JavaScript to write a program that does the same thing as that python program?
I could've but I wanted to take the opportunity to learn a new language :)
@@MichaelWhiteDev ok cool I was just checking 👍
Is your job remote..? And may I ask what the offer was..?
yea its remote, and in my area starting pay is 50-70k
