Thank you so much for this.... I have bilateral Meneires and had no idea what it was when I got diagnosed.... Seeing it spoken about on tv has really helped me... When people ask me about it I send them this!
Omg!! You were the first person I ever followed on Tiktok and now I come to one of my fav vids on RUclips and see we share the same awful illness! Wow love your content ! 💙
It's good to see menieres being spoken about. It's way more debilitating than they portray in this. Such a horrible disease. Totally ripped my life away.
not a totally accurate depiction of what a Meniere's attack is like but its a start. I would never get up that quickly during our after an attack, my attacks are never that short - I usually also have a lot of forewarning including symptoms that preclude an attack. Also? A person in the middle of a vertigo attack (or after an attack) would NOT shake their head. YIKES - that makes things so much worse!
you need to take into account that a show has to move at a certain pace. The point of doing this in a show is to raise awareness. Better than shows where everyone is completely healthy all the time. One of the best things about this show is the diversity!
Also, attacks last HOURS. my average attack is 8 hours. It definatly messes up your day and when you have attacks every week, it can mess up your life. this was too glib.
Bjmanfredi I do believe that most people with the classic version of Ménière’s have attacks that last hours. Mine only is minutes long. I get short attacks everyday for a couple of weeks and then nothing. And not everything at one time. Sometimes just dizzy spells. Other times intense pressure. Other time mild hearing loss, with the hearing returning. Sometimes I can’t stand listening to loud music. And 24/7 tinnitus. But I read that others experience severe forms of dizzy attacks accompanied with hearing loss. It’s irritating not knowing how or when the worsening of my symptoms.
I hated how they pretty much forgotten about this character. Like, he wasn't even written off or anything. He just stopped appearing and not a single thing mentioned about him after the last episode he appeared in. He completely vanished.
I have been looking for this clip, I have Bilateral Ménière’s and Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease and this clip was the first one I ever saw attempt a vertigo attack! It was very close to my vertigo at the beginning of my journey with my Ménière’s/AIED! No one with Ménière’s is the same as others with Ménière’s!
The character is Bay Kennish. As the clip fades out, she begins to tell the story of how she and another girl were switched at birth (the premise and title of the show). The other girl is Daphne Vasquez, who had meningitis as a baby and became deaf as a result. The actress who plays Daphne really does have Meniere's.
This is the worst acting out of a Menieres attack. Honestly you just wanna be quiet, lie down, and PRAY that it stops. You really CANT move your head at all. They ought to fact - check this tripe before the put it to air.
EJ386 its a fair point you make about variability between attacks. However, vertigo related to menieres by definition lasts more than 20 minutes. This is not a fair or accurate representation of an attack. Its like if you were teaching someone about hiv so you had someone sneeze and then they take one pill and then they say, Oh yeah, I have hiv and I feel really sick sometimes.
I know this is an old comment but I have menieres and this isn’t a vertigo attack it’s a drop attack where you fall and you are fine a minute later. I get them sometimes
