The moment I saw that I knew it was an SA car. That color was so common on Merc's in SA when I was a kid I got to disliking it but now It's growing on me. I cannot believe the condition of that car. Wether or not the miles are correct it must be a highveld car. No way that would survive in that condition down by the coast. I know from personal experience having owned a 71 in Durban by the sea. By the way. Because of South Africa's CKD local content reg's the interiors were different than German made ones which we have here in the USA. The two tone door cards in SA being a case in point. If that car were german made the top of the door cards, the arm rests and the door handles would be the same color as the door cards themselves. A gorgeous example for sure.

Caledonian green, I think. Was available for years. Into the 90s at least. No longer available. No greens at all now, from what I can see.

The only colours available on cars nowadays are black, white and silver. Mercedes used to have an amazing colour palette into the 80s at least. I've had an SEC in fantastic pine green. Now all cars are plastic and are exactly the same colour, hardly worth spending a fortune on for a "car of distinction" that ain't distinctive any more.

There was no 'E' spec, only the 'S' on carbs, this one is 'SE' injection model - 'Einspritzen'. Lovely car though.
