No, Lee Jin Ah is not mainstream and probably won't appeal to the teenage crowds who are obsessed with kpop groups that will probably never have a song this meaningful and well-written/composed. But what Lee Jin Ah is, is talented and talent beats everything in the end. She may not be the best singer out there but she has a voice and style that is so captivating and hypnotic that most can't help but to love her. She loves her music and you can clearly see that. She treats her music as her precious treasures and that's what makes her good. The judges even said though themselves she carries each note with so much care and meaningfulness that it hits you in all the right places. I hope Lee Jin Ah is someone who will continue to make beautiful music like this. I will be on the lookout!
I love how she sneaks her jazz influences in the arrangement, but still keeps it catchy enough to be a pop song. Jazz is so diverse but she uses it so well to set the mood, it's just lovely.
Season 1 highlights were the powerful vocals. Season 2 was marked by strong ''self colors''.Season 3 was back with vocals with natural high notes, emotion and technique. But Lee Jin Ah and the hole first ranking group have proved that Season 4 will be made of Sincerity... The singer with most sincerity will win this season.
well, sincerity will always be one of the most, if not the most important criteria used on k-pop across the seasons. the moment someone with strong vocal tried to fake it without heart, they got forgotten fast regardless of what season they were in. season 4 happens to feel that way because it has the most # of strong vocals, and thus many incidents of "insincere" tech-driven good vocals and the ensuing criticisms by the judges. so for each season, everything you mentioned matters, but the contestant roster also plays a really big role as explained above. any case, it really is a pleasure to watch… my favorite Sunday past time!

There are a lot of people who don't understand why the judges are hyping her up so much but I think there's a different sort of appreciation you can have for her music if you play an instrument/are a musician. She does a lot of really cool things musically (i.e. her jazz influences) and honestly, her voice is nice and calming but it pales in comparison to her musical talent (in composing and in playing). I also just die when I see her skill on the piano; she plays it so naturally it's like it's as easy as breathing for her.

Who ever says that this is boring, doesn't know what music is and how music feels like. Especially when you tell a story as this one which hits you in the chest and makes you feel a certain way, her voice adds to it, it's what comes from the heart♥ and I support 이진아 for her own talent composing this song, the other contestants all have their forms of talents and they are all unique, they are all doing a great job and in the future they will become even better after this incredible experience in KPOPSTAR with the training of these 3 wonderful judges.
I think her songs would be perfect as an OST for kdramas. They're not really exciting but exceptional at setting the mood. I could literally picture a number of scenes that would compliment her songs thus far.

IMHO they should disqualify here already from the competition, she's way too good it would be like if Michael Jackson joined American Idol and started singing Thriller and other songs he composed while the rest of the competitors are singing covers. What made MJ amazing was that he was really unique when he burst into the scene and no one had heard of the type of music he makes, it's the same thing here Lee Jin Ah seems to have her own subgenre of "chill" or reflecting music, I want to buy her album and just listen to it and relax at home or think about my life. I mean as a judge how are you going to rate something original like these compared to other competitors? When a kpopstar contestant wins you'd think of someone like Lee Hi, a singer that was already really good but can still improve, in this case Lee Jin Ah is already a complete product, she's not gonna learn how to sing and dance and all that other stuff, she can already make music that moves peoples' hearts and tops music charts in Korea so what exactly does she need training or an agency for? JYP, Antenna and YG should take her out and just have a bidding war for her services IMHO.

I've already watch this a hundred times and still find myself mesmerize by her art. But for some reason today, I noticed something really different. The three judges looked very similar with Song Triplets. Yoo Hee Yeol as Daehan, JYP as Minguk, YG as Manse. Maybe, it's their expression. Hahaha. Though, I couldn't deny the triplets are cutest thing ever. The judges could never win that. God, I feel so weird today. Hahaha.
