    For everyone suggesting I just dig a trench from my house and run power to the office…
    We live on a solid rock. That’s the reason our property is elevated 30’ higher than everything else around here. Trenching here is incredibly expensive and requires big equipment that doesn’t make sense to bring in just for one simple trench. It’s so hard to dig here that the only underground utilities on our property are the water line from our well, to the cistern, and then to our house, and then one single outdoor faucet. We don’t even have water lines to our lawn, and I have to run a hose across the driveway from the well house to water it.
    Then we have our septic line, which has to run all the way down the hill to the lower corner of our property because they had to get down off the rock to be able to put a septic field in.
    So a solar setup is the only real logical option for power in my office.

    I've been watching you for so long as I keep seeing your reviews of new Ecoflow products these guys are just MILES ahead of everyone else. They are revolutionizing how we power our recreation, business and general home life.
    Once I get to a point where I build up my off-road vehicle and emergency proof my home, there's only one name that will come to mind. I'm sure they will have expanded their range of products AGAIN by then.
    You should become their outdoor life spokesmen. You really do an excellent job of showcasing the versatility of their products. Solar powered boat ride anyone? 😁

    I’m sure there will be people who will fuss about this video being an ad for Ecoflow, but I appreciate the time you took to give us all that info about the various ways the products could be used together. The products are outside my budget right now, but if I needed a product like that, I would give Ecoflow a hard look since they have put a lot of thought into developing a system that interconnects. When I saw that connector you put on the jumper cables, I wondered if you planned to hardwire a pigtail on all your vehicles so you could quickly move that unit around without needing to connect to battery with clamps.

    Great video!
    1) Keep those DC cables as short as possible to reduce voltage drop (loss). Shorter = less loss. Keep your solar and generator as close to the Ecoflow as possible.
    2) Solar: Shed's higher angle roof is better. The further from the equator you go, the higher angle the sun hits the earth. Flat would be perfect on the equator. At almost 45 degrees north, higher angles are better. In Alaska panels are almost vertical!

    • @CaseyLaDelle
      @CaseyLaDelle  17 дней назад +9

      Too bad the roofs are angles east/west!

    • @thunderclaws99
      @thunderclaws99 17 дней назад +5

      @@CaseyLaDelle That is a giant bummer. All the more reason to want that extra slope: to make better use of the morning/evening sun when it's lower in the sky!

    • @tomcardale5596
      @tomcardale5596 17 дней назад +8

      @@CaseyLaDelle no, that's a really good thing!
      I (among other things) design large solar installations for a living and east/west systems are often my preferred solution.
      Per panel, over a year the east/west generates slightly less. However you can fit a lot more on the roof (you're using two sides instead of one) and it spreads the generation throughout the day better.
      The big caveat is that you need two separate inputs, one for each side of the roof.
      If you don't have that, then just pick whichever side is more south, or whatever side is more likely to have sun when you're using the building and don't lose too much sleep over it not being perfectly south.
      I can do some calculations for you if you like, but generally just compensating for a non ideal orientation by shoving more panels at the issue is the best way.
      Be wary of connecting too many in series, on a cold day when the panels are producing their maximum voltage your can run in to issues with the maximum input voltage of the controller.

      @jeannig7565 17 дней назад +3

      @@tomcardale5596 I was wondering if the bifacial (two-sided) solar panel set up facing east-west would produce more power over a year's time.

      @tomcardale5596 17 дней назад +1

      @@jeannig7565 set up vertically along the roof ridge?
      I've never actually done that or modelled it but my gut feeling is yes.
      However you'd need some pretty strong mounts!
      There are people using them as fences they're so cheap.

  • @MacBailey
    @MacBailey 17 дней назад +5

    Those anderson style connectors work well. I put them on jumper cables, and my small winch, and my trolling motor and the battery charger. I may put some permanent cables wired to my tractor and car to easily plug into the anderson connectors.
    Either building will take enough solar panels to run everything. And larger 300 watt panels are getting cheaper. I bought an extra slide mount for my e-bike battery and made a cable with mc-4 connectors to plug it into my power station solar input so the e-bike battery can give me additional run time during a power outage.

    Casey: Anderson connectors on all your vehicles connected directly to the battery with large gauge cables, you can connect the Ecoflow directly as well as have a connection for jumping other people's vehicles.

    I would add a propane heater to your office. I like the more expensive and heavier window blinds. I like your office set up.

    I too have EcoFlow. A Delta max , 2 Delta pros , a delta Smart generator and the same solar panels .

    The Anderson Power connectors that came in the Hobo Freight jumper kit can be used to pre-wire into all of your vehicle's batteries. Then just use a buddy start cable to connect up without fumbling with jumper clamps.

    Thank you for the information on the ecoflow alternator charger. I really like all of the ecoflow products I have and this new charger solution will make things a lot easier to do my setup in my truck toolbox for camping and emergency backup solution.

    Casey, great channel.......the power/volts/watts are not free from the vehicles charging circuit...the alternator brushes will wear faster. I get your meaning....I just think it would be good for your viewers to know this. I have just started watching the last couple of months. Lots of good stuff and you are good to people...that's key!! Thanks for looking, Tom

    Rube Goldberg must be your favorite mentor, inspiration and idol! This is quite the setup you have here! How are you, and especially your wife and daughter going to keep up with your power grid configuration of the moment? This is coming from a guy who still has the time clock flashing on his blue ray cd player and VCR player.

    Acoustic panels would help too! DIY some just buy stretching some fabric over a picture frame and stuff it with foam. Cheers!

    You are one lucky man, @CaseyLaDelle !!! Not only did your awesome wifeypoo provide you with your own official office and equipment storage shed, she also provided you with your very own super man cave/dog house for any time she says, "SHUT UP" and you clearly hear, "STAND UP!!!!!" This is a common issue in my own home which clearly explains the origin of the knots I proudly display on my forehead! 🤪 The only problem with this is, after 40 years of wedded bliss(ters), I seem to drool much more these days than I did when we first met... 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

    Casey great idea. But why not take it one step further and hard-wire Anderson Quick Connectors to all your vehicles and both ends of your jump cord so you don't have to worry about the jump clamp end coming off that way you could even use it driving down the road if you wanted to.
