    I like both mixes and understand the arguments from both sides. Im sort of an audiophile and usually jam the remix BUT theres something really special about the original. Im glad we have both

    Wow, I've never seen this guy interviewed.Thank you. VT remix doesn't cause ear pain, but there's just something missing now. I can't really sus out what it is enough to articulate it, though.

    I'm so grateful for the VT remix. Vapor Trails went from being quite possibly their worst mixed album to one of the best. Just waiting for a Clockwork Angles remix now!

    I have taken flack for saying that their last 4 studio albums were the best music they’ve ever made ( yes FEEDBACK exists )

    I'm an odd one in that Vapor Trails is one of my more favorite Rush albums. I bought the remix as soon as it came out and was amazed within the first minute when I heard bass riffs that I never heard before! David did a phenomenal job and I loved rediscovering the album.

      In the remix the drums and bass are more clear, but the guitars and vocals suffer badly

    I’d like to hear him remix Clockwork Angels. It feels like there’s a bit of loudness that overpowers the vocals

    I like it too and I wish we could get the whole back catalogue remixed (hope they find the missing Trident studio tracks for Permanent Waves) - especially 2112, which needs more bottom and top end xD

    Full Rush-love from me for the remix. I think you did a great job. I loved the original but it was tiring to listen to. The remix is cleaner, more dynamic, more airy, less 'busy'- a joy to listen to. Thanks...

    He turned it around for me. I couldn't wrap my ears around VT at all. So IN came the Remix and OUT went the Original. Check out the Rush Channel on You tube, that's where I'm listening to their Albums and the sound quality is amazing, better than the Remasters sometimes.

    I think the remix sounds considerably better than the original. The first version, that I have on CD, sounded horrendous. You can hear distortion all over it and not in a pleasant way (i.e. the digital clipping sounds really harsh). Great songs though.

  • @masecardrums

    David's mix might technically be better, but lord I can't stand what he did to the sound of Neil's drums. Those drum tones originally sounded like Neil, and his remixes just sound like "drums"

    • @joelmartinmastery

      I'll have to go back and listen to both to compare!

    • @AnalogKid82
      @AnalogKid82 8 месяцев назад +1

      100%! Drums sound flat, pushed way down in the mix, and the kick sounds processed and clicky, like a cheap demo or drum machine. Neil's snare has always had that prominent, upfront attack (listen to any of the previous albums), which was clearly there on the original mix, but it's so flat, hollow, and lifeless on the remix.

      To me the drums sounds too poppy. It’s not a natural drum sound all I hear is pop pop. No dynamic in the drums. Since it’s sticks out so much for me it’s all I hear.

    For me, Vapor Trails was mixed so badly that it was un-listenable. After waiting for 5+ years for new Rush, the record company released this crap. I don't care if it was the fashion at the time. Don't they have any quality control. I haven't given the new mix a shot yet, but I will. Hopefully I haven't been scarred for life by VT. ;)
