    In this video, I’ll tell you why you should use personal steam inhaler (I'll talk about steam inhaler benefits) and I will show you how to use my favourite steamer for singers, steam inhaler Mabis.
    I will share steam inhalation benefits for singers and voice users. It’s a fantastic method to keep your vocal instrument in the best possible shape (and you can even use steam inhaler essential oils but I will tell you what to do first). Then, I will give you 5 reasons why I like and use my steam inhaler for singers on a regular basis (one of the reasons is that it’s a portable vocal steamer). And I will show you how to use steam inhaler, including one little trick that will produce even more steam out of this vocal inhaler for singers.
    So, watch this steam inhaler review to find out why and how to use this portable steam inhaler. and then check out the voice steamer for singers and other voice users.

      $30 -- 30 American dollars (stated at 6:29 in your video above)? Try $64.90 at the link you provided in the notes below the video. The video is just four months old and the price has more than doubled? That really damages your credibility overall. Which saddens me, as I like both your style and your content. Any thoughts? By the way, I am one of your subscribers and with notifications turned on (and each video liked too).

      Hi @Thomas Johnson, while I was checking comments under my old videos (and I have been also preparing another video on the topic of vocal steamers), I came across your comment. Here is the explanation: the link I provided under the video leads to a page where the price is CAD 64.90 (in Canadian dollars). Yes, the price has increased since I posted this video. So, with the current exchange rate, the price comes to about $50 US. I personally paid CAD 50.00, which at the time of purchase (Dec 2018) converted to about $30 US. Unfortunately (for us Canadians), the exchange rate as well as the price of the unit went up. Therefore, the difference in price. I also noticed that the item is not available on the US Amazon site (only on the Canadian site). However, they are available in Walmart. In one year, the market has changed rapidly and Amazon is now offering other steam inhaler brands.

    Oh my goodness! My voice had been pretty bad for over a week and it wouldn't heal after the cold I had. And after a single steam, in less than 12 hours my voice is far far better. Thank you so much. I was afraid I had damaged my vocal cords. But thank God it's much much better now.

    Thank you Katerina for a very well produced presentation. I thought the narrative is excellent. As a doctor, I would recommend the steamer to patients with an anxiety disorder, who speak (or sing) in keys higher than is natural for them, causing tightening of the intrinsic laryngeal muscles that translates to inflammation, eliciting production of mucous that the body uses to coat the vocal cords for protection.

    Katarina, you are a life saver!! Okay, a VOICE saver!
    A little background, I started singing a year ago at age 59! One year later I am the lead singer in a 4-piece band performing 3-sets of music 2-3 times a month not including weekly rehearsals. I have been following your video's for a year, doing the warmups and exercizes to condition my voice. Although, my range is somewhat limited I sing in key and on pitch thanks to you! HOWEVER, there are times where my throat feels worn out and tired so this steam inhaler tip along with the SOVT"s has been a life saver for me. As it turns out my wife has a facial steamer which includes an inhaler attachment and I am using it everyday! I can't believe how much this helps!! Thank you so much!!

    I am so glad I found your channel, I am PE teacher and coach who ended up getting vocal cord nodules and when Dr did surgery to remove them he found out that I have vocal cord scarring. My voice is almost always gone which prevents me from doing my job. Do you think a steamer would be good for every day use and might help me to get some voice function back? I am waiting to see a specialist because my regular ENT Doctor said there is nothing else he can do to help.

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  4 года назад

      Hi Christina, steaming your voice is generally a good idea but I don't think it's a cure for your problem. You need to be seen by a voice specialist who will probably do a videostroboscopy and find out why your vocal function is impaired. He or she will then suggest possible treatment options. There may be many different reasons for your voice problems and they all have different solutions. Steaming is a general method to improve hydration. If it feels good to you, do it. I steam my voice at least once a day because I use my voice a lot every day.

    I had no idea these steamers even existed! I'm going to buy one for sure, this is great! So if you have a sore throat and you need to sing, you just use the steamer right before and you will sound less hoarse?
    And another unrelated question. Do you recommend cold, warm, or room temperature water before singing? Thank you, Katarina!

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Victoria, you always ask great questions! So, regarding your first question: it does not work that fast. If your voice sounds hoarse (there are many different reasons for hoarseness), your voice needs more than one steaming session. Hoarseness is a more complicated matter and I am preparing a whole video series about this topic. But steaming definitely brings some relieve because it hydrates the vocal folds immediately. So, let's say you overused your voice (used it for too long), then combination of a vocal rest for a couple of hours and steaming should do the trick. But if hoarseness comes from a more serious cause, steaming will only alleviate the symptoms for a short time (it will still contribute to healing but obviously elimination of the primary cause will be most important). Now, your second question: there are no research data on this topic, however I recommend either warm or room temperature because cold water (especially ice cold) can cause some tensing and muscle spasms, which you don't want before speaking or singing. But we are all different and some people (like my husband) only drink ice cold water and his voice is fine. Thank you for watching and asking such great questions!

      For a vocal steamer, it is ok. to use tap water. Not for nebulizer. For nebulizer, you should opt for sterile solutions. I am releasing a new video on Thursday that will touch on this topic! Stay tuned.

      I am glad you are enjoying the Mabis inhaler. I've had it for years now and there is a little build up. You can clean it with a soft brush or use distilled water that will not leave as much residuum.

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  4 года назад +1

      Hi Ialit, I don't have any personal experience with nano ionic steamer but it looks like it's a facial steamer that produces warm steam. Any facial steamer should do the work but I cannot say one way or the other for specific brands or types as I have never tried them. But think about it. Years ago, we were steaming over a pot of boiling water so if this device can do the same, then it should be fine.
