    I'll add my thanks, was frustrated after receiving vehicle after a cosmetic repair. it was doing the same thing and when i informed the shop the threw up their hands. they disconnected the battery and connected it. After searching the internet, I came across this video and it saved me days of aggravation. I gave it a thumbs up and subscribed.

    WORKED. 2019 Rav4. Hope it sticks.. Turn on ignition position 2 (don't start engine), put it in reverse, go to ignition position 1. You'll only see the backup camera displayed. Park brake will be on so don't worry. Leave it in reverse for 10 mins, put in park, turn off ignition, hopefully it boots normally. I also deleted all personal settings just to give her a new start in life. PS- hope it sticks.

    Apparently leave it in reverse for 10 minutes ( according to the service manager at the dealership I deal with). After 10 minutes, put it back into Park and turn the ignition off, get out of the vehicle and lock the doors. Wait a while before getting back in ( I’ve waited overnight ). The next day after a couple m8nutes the “ radio” worked again the first two times this happened. The third time ( in August ) I tried this 3 days in a row. It didn’t work. I made an appointment with the dealership but couldn’t get in for 12 days. Three days before the appointment the radio started working again. I told the service guy that when I brought in the vehicle but he said they had a “ firmware update” that should fix the issue. They hooked a trickle charger on the small 12 volt battery ( my RAV4 is a hybrid ) that powers the infotainment system and tried the download for about an hour and a half. I got the call that the vehicle was ready for pickup. When I got there, the service guy told me what had been done on the vehicle and told me that the firmware update did not complete. The “ Tech“ ( mechanic ) was right there and also told me it wouldn’t complete and he had no idea why. The most ridiculous part was the Service guy said “ since the Update didn’t complete I couldn’t charge you for it”!!!! I said, “ charge me? This vehicle is less than a year and a half old and still under warranty. We didn’t buy a RAV4 Limited Hybrid with a non functioning multimedia system. If there’s any cost to any repairs you can bill Toyota through the warranty system! He didn’t like that. Toyota quality and customer service has gone totally down the shitter.

      @Zeek800 there is a tsb I think is 3 year 30,000 miles it cover for

    • @Zeek800
      @Zeek800 24 дня назад

      @ ya the dealership tried it but it said “ not completed”. It hasn’t happened since mid August ( cross my fingers ) and the first time was in mid May 2024 after the our 2023 RAV4 was just over a year old. I did the r3verse for 10 minute thing and it didn’t work right away but 5he next morning my wife called me to say it was working again. Then early July it happened again and the same result the next morning.after the “ reverse trick “ . Then also about 5-6 weeks later it happened for a third time and the “ trick didn’t work even though I tried it 2 or 3 times 3 days in a row and again a few days later. Toyota wants a ton of money to replace the “ head unit “ ( I’ve heard from $3000-$10,000 ) so if you’re past your warranty mileage or the three year bumper to bumper then you’re on the hook. I’ve reported the 3rd time it happened and the dealership had a problem downloading the “ firmware “ as it said “ not completed”. The service guy and the mechanic Sami they had no idea why it didn’t work and what to do about it. That’s “ nice” but this shop needs to figure it out or Toyota needs to teach this “ Tech “ how to do the download, plus I shouldn’t have to pay for the “ diagnostic “ whether the download worked or not. It’s Toyota’s responsibility to give me a functioning Multimedia unit at THEIR cost.

      @Zeek800 I've never had any issue downloading the software for these radio I know once you download it onto usb drive you start the car and leave it running then plug the USB in and go to software update and it should say new verson found then hit install amd it will install it on the head unit. Sound like they don't know what they doing

    • @Zeek800
      @Zeek800 24 дня назад

      @ my attempt was the dealership trying to install it. They couldn’t “ complete” the download but the system hasn’t gone into reboot cycle since August 12th??? I was under the impression that the online loading of a USB had been shut down by Toyota, but maybe it’s just that they charge for it even if you do it yourself. I have no idea where a USB would fit in my 2023 Rav4hybrid.

I have to make an appointment with the dealership and get them to look at this. Hopefully the Technical Service Bulletin update will fix it. The vehicle is just under a year and a half old, but it seems like dealerships don’t want to fix this they just want you to get a new info system which I’ve heard prices of $2000 to $7000 and even some guys saying $15,000. We should have received a letter from Toyota by now stating that this is known issue , and they will extend the. Warranty on. This repair to 10+ years at NO COST to the owner. How on Earth can these guys put a crap info / safety system in a vehicle and try to dismiss it or not take responsibility for it? This has been happening on most of Toyota’s vehicles for at least 7-10 years so they know it’s happening. I wouldn’t have bought this vehicle if I knew this issue existed. I’m not shelling out $2000 to $10,000 plus on a part of the vehicle that is a non-wear part of the vehicle and contains the media, safety functions and information of the car!
