Eat Static are absolute legends. (The nutter who made the Screech-o-tron is none other than Jake Rothman, my dad!)

Hey, is he still building devices!? Wish to know how to make a screech-o-tron - or purchase one!

      @@peartreeproductions77 Harvey: That's awesome.
You need to learn his art.
      Continuity demands it.
For the next generation of crazy people needing the best squalches and Squeaks.
      Those are rare commodities now.
I actually saw Eat Static back in 95 at the dance tent in Glastonbury and I came home as a guitarist with a drum machine and an effects board and went for the full wacky sounds live.
It was actually possible to get a decent danceable sound out of it through a lot of delay, flange and judicious use of the fill button.
I was utterly converted and went on to make lots of dance music and some crossover stuff with guitars and Bass.
Ozrics and Eat Static are my two biggest influences.
Then a lot of Fusion guys...
      Luv and Peace.

Really cool to chat to these guys on the day, nice work getting them onboard Ross!
Abduction blew me away when I first heard it & it still stands up today.
Was a wicked set, good to see them using modular & the mighty Octatrack :-)

The random rhythmic noises are what elevates Eat Static from a 90s rave band to a non temporal event smeared across all of time.
Just the best live experience in the Box.
I will always follow this band. Everything changes but they keep morphing and evolving.
Tour Scotland soon please. Play the Barrowlands tho. I went to a gig in Edinburgh that was a bit off. You guys do best at festivals. Probably even better at free festivals.
    Best time ever. Miss them.
    Luv and Peace.

Think that's Seaweed's older brother according to what Merv mentions. Love to catch a modular static set although that rig is large and is not gonna fit in smaller venues like inSpiral is it?

    • @ozricness
      @ozricness 8 лет назад +1

No, it's Tom Brook's older brother. He handled the EMS in the mid 80s and has guested a few times since, both in the studio and live. There's footage of a gig with him with the Ozrics on YT, last decade I think.

I would love see some more stories about electronic music that isn't dance-centric. Once I hear those boring beats I just can't keep listening. Obviously millions of Europeans disagree, but a few more options from the experimental and avant garde scenes would be awesome.
