@@MiccaPhoneIt is a play on the phrase that would normally include "best". Anyone who plays chess is "one of the [not necessarily best] players in all of chess". The lack of significance of the statement is where the humor lies. I hope that helps. 😁
Martin is surprisingly scary if you give him a wall of pawns. He doesn't have many legal moves and almost all of them are good. And it's hard for him to blunder anything because the pawns all protect each other, plus he has so many pawns that the he has to make a LOT of blunders for you to win. Even the starting chess position vs 40 pawns is hard, let alone just 2 rooks.
I think Martin has seen your other chess puzzle videos where you underpromote in order to avoid stalemate, and since you had stalemated him before, he wanted to avoid it.
These videos take a lot of work and planning. Having filler videos between should be enough. Not to mention the limited number of puzzles to draw from that are unique and interesting. Just be patient. :)
Challenge request: Fire Chess, after Martin’s turn, you must spin the wheel. After the wheel stops, the square landed on catches on fire. (use another board to keep track on what squares are currently on fire) If any of your pieces lands on or passes through a square that is on fire, then your piece catches on fire. When a piece is on fire, the piece gets 3 turns to extinguish themselves. If the piece doesn’t extinguish themselves in 3 turns, the piece dies and gets removed from the board. If a pawn promotes while they are on fire, then the promoted piece remains on fire for the current duration. Martin’s pieces are firefighters, so all of Martin’s pieces can’t catch on fire. If any of Martin’s pieces lands on a square that is on fire, then the square is extinguished and is no longer on fire, However, extinguished squares can catch on fire again, even if the square was extinguished in the past. Squares on fire stay on fire forever until any of Martin’s pieces extinguishes that square on fire. The only way to get a piece extinguished is to capture one of Martin’s pieces while that piece is on fire. If the wheel lands on a space that is occupied by your piece, then that piece catches on fire. If the wheel lands on a square already on fire or is occupied by any of Martin’s pieces, then nothing happens. Knights jump over squares that are on fire. If the challenge is easy, make it harder by making fire propagate as well. After Martin’s turn, then pick one square currently on fire to propagate to an adjacent square, with a 50/50 chance of that square also catching on fire. After propagation rule, spin the wheel. It doesn’t matter if the propagation fails or succeeds, it can only be done once a turn. The propagation rule is mandatory so you cannot skip the propagation step for the entire game.
challenge idea, it's you versus max level stockfish but Martin is your teammate. Every time you move Martin makes a second move for you before Stockfish's turn. He might help you or he might do Martin stuff. Martin is not allowed to checkmate Stockfish and you cant put Stockfish in check
This was pretty much a lost cause. Even if Martin had a rating of 0 and made a random choice from the list of all available, legal moves, he would still win. Just press the “Epic Fail” button here.
No he does not, martin plays bad moves intentionally but when he has mate in one he always finds it, you clearly didnt even play him enough to see that
A perfect thumbnail for this would be the move G1 or F1 and the double exclamation mark. Great video, enjoyed it. Martin got a bit too cocky with the knights there :D
Like playing Space Invaders with the Invaders starting on the second-to-last row and you get one ship... chances not looking too good, even with Nelson at the helm🤣
Chess against martin BUT Each non pawn or king piece that is captured and is martin's, occupies everywhere with a pawn that is within its range. Note pawns will not spawn on occupied squares. Also note idk if promoted pieces should be included in this pawn strategy. Or if pawns should be aloud to spawn on Martin's promotion rank.
Next challenge: Give Martin 30 pawns instead of 40, HOWEVER you must capture all his pawns before you checkmate him. I think to make things more fair, you'd get 2 rooks and a queen in that challenge
The lack of a video today (the next day, which shouldn't be concerning but you're definitely consistent and prolific with your videos so a skip in a day stands out) tells me you're definitely feeling worse than yesterday (day of this video). Take it easy, Nelson...chess itself is a game of patience. We can wait for more great videos...rest up!
Lol you have to just take pawns every move and use both rooks and figure out which pawns you can take and if it doesn’t work take back a move and try again
ChessNuke has also recently uploaded a similar video, except white and black both have their armies. And apparently Martin missed mate in 1 in that video >:(
I have a martin challenge! You have to checkmate martin, while every piece is on the its homesquare, and you have to promote 8 pawns into queens and return them to their homesquares as well. Martin cannot sacrifice or capture anything! Hint: Checkmate will be a discovered attack while moving a knight to its homesquare.
I feel like I just took a master class in Martin 40 Pawn Opening Mainline Theory 😂
Martin played with 100 percent accuracy that first game
I could tell how happy Nelson was when he checkmated Martin :D
Martin was really GM in this game.
how do you know lol itds been 20 seconds
After all, what does GM stand for if not Great Martin?
@ChrL I know.
@@ninjuanibob is just too good
@ChrL brother
Stay sharp, play smart, and don't forget to back-rank checkmate Martin 😂
Martin truly is one the players in all of chess.
Pardon? Grammar? What are you trying to say?
He meant to say it like that. It’s a joke found everywhere
@@planetwastaken237 ok, then I have to take an English lesson... very confused...

@@dillontarr8112 Thanks, I understand. But is it correct that also the word "of" is omitted?
I love how Martin decided to flex on you with underpromotions
This opening should be called the "Forty Pawn Defense"

Martin is surprisingly scary if you give him a wall of pawns. He doesn't have many legal moves and almost all of them are good. It looked like more of a riddle "find your way through pawns" than a chess game haha
I think Martin has seen your other chess puzzle videos where you underpromote in order to avoid stalemate, and since you had stalemated him before, he wanted to avoid it.
Can you please do the chess puzzle adventure series more frequently? I really liked the idea of it.

That was hilarious. Well done Nelson for figuring it out.

Insturctionas are too long
my favourite variation to play with martin is him having all the pieces and I only get 4 knights. i’d like to see you try and win.
Nelsi is so smart that he doest only learn the theory, he makes it 🥶

Martin is a record breaker (in losing)!!😂
Do this: give yourself 24 pawns and a king, and give Martin 2 rooks and a king. Caveat: you can only promote to knights.
You do not need promotion to checkmate if you have 24 pawns.
superb patience there
Nelson unironically going for 'mainline' theory in the 2 rooks v 40 pawns variant.
Nelson: What's he gonna do?
Nelson: 😐
man great video

Move the pawns back a row and put the king in the middle
Didn't ChessNuke did this same idea. Like a week ago?
That was sooo much fun 😂
The first game killed me 😂😂😂
And he sacrificed THE ROOOOOOK ( 35 Times)
And he sacrificed THE ROOOOOOOOK!
Nelson, can you do the next chess puzzle story plz

At 21:00 you changed from draws to ties.
I think the reason Martin made knights instead of queens was because of how many pawns there were the knights could easily jump over them
10:27 It appears that Martin won't take a piece if it's trapped, but will if it is.
11:09 Maybe not.
THANK YOU for doing these crazy ideas that makes chess interesting. Nice book moves there btw.
Do it agin but you start with 16 pawns, have to capture all his pieces and can only promote to knights
It's like playing a game of Simon.
that was actually hilarious
Dude you should make a puzzle about this😂😂😂
I would love to know how Martin is coded. The fact that you can get a pattern like that is amazing and must be because of some quirk of his coding
I actually couldn't believe it 😂
They've recently improved the martin bot
We want part2 of haking stockfish
I'd love to see the game analysis 😂

I really enjoyed this video so much this is more exciting than solving puzzles
WHo else watched the entire thing instead of skipping to the win?
You should do a rook battle with stockfish (each side having 23 rooks)
Martin would literally have to blunder 15 moves in a row for anyone to win this.
Next challenge: Give Martin 30 pawns instead of 40, HOWEVER you must capture all his pawns before you checkmate him. I think to make things more fair, you'd get 2 rooks and a queen in that challenge
Now try to lose against Martin in the same position as black
ok now do it again but clear up all the black pieces before chekmate
I would have gotten greedy and taken every single pawn if possible lol
Tell me is it considered to defeat match while stale mate
Martin seemed to like deez knights

Ngl this is harder than the billion rooks
awesome, that was crazy. i thought there was no way.
what’s the background music in the game
You will never win against Martin with 40 pawns if he is 1400 elo
I think it would require GM skills NOT to win with black.
Great win, I wonder if Stockfish could figure that out.
He's not as badas choosing absolutely randomly from all available moves but it's close
So... No one is gonna state that Martin simply let him win?
Nelson you have a masochistic streak :) . Good win but I liked the stalemates more just for being more instructive.
ChessNuke has also recently uploaded a similar video, except white and black both have their armies.
And apparently Martin missed mate in 1 in that video >:(
That took 35 game to beat Martin💀💀💀💀💀🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Why didn't you try to take all of his pieces from that position? That would have been metal!
Now try with 47 pawns
I think u had a chance for a draw at 1:54 if u give away ur rooks.
How do you play against bots with custom positions
Thanks for video I learned theory☺️
Bro, I played 11 games with him that we're all 7 queens vs 7 rooks (ofc I played with rooks) and I've won 8, and lost 3
GM MARTIN
Like how you hanging your rook like almost every move💀
This is too hard. Martin is the greatest GM, one of the best players in the world, rival to Magnus Carlsen.
This is scary. If a nm loses 26 times and draws 8 times just to win once against the worst bot, I think humanity is doomed. :o
wait?!! when did you get so much hair?
Martin doesn't take defended pieces
I have a martin challenge!
