He lives in a cruel, barbaric world called Westeros where the strong survive and the weak die, sometimes in mid-dragonflight. To me, he is a complex, sympathetic character who seems to have learned the wrong lessons from his childhood and has grown into a flawed person like literally every other fictional person in Martin’s world. It’s his flaws that make him the character he is and the character I root for.

For one, I think they chose an older actor to make that age gap seem bigger and make it clear that Aemond is very much the bully in this case. It makes him seem petty and childish, though he has every right to be mad about losing his eye it's still... SHORTSIGHTED HA GOT HIM. Also Ewan Mitchell just looks very villainous and that makes it surprising that Aemond didnt mean to kill him. Honestly I think he's one of the best choices of casting up their with Matt Smith as Daemon.
