    For me the most interesting part of this talk is the idea that intuition is a type of transcendental logic that allows you to understand the truths that govern rules. Or put another way, you could say it allows for the understanding of why a given set of rules are true.
    If humans are capable of that kind of thinking, then I would say it has probably been used in some form by the greatest minds to learn about the fundamental truths of reality.

      @vjnt1star 5 лет назад

      I am not being funny but what does that mean for a rule or set of rules to be true ?

      Institutions are not always a fact truth or right perception.

    • @cristianproust
      @cristianproust 3 года назад

      Intuition does not tell you why something is true. Mathematical truth is self evident, it is simply like that. Why implies a reason, when you couldn't come up with any.
      Some research has been done to see if it is innate, and least certain intuition about the physics of the world is pre-programmed, as grammar (Chomsky).

    Consciousness was there even before this universe existed. It will be there when this universe ends. This universe and each particle is a manifestation of that consciousness, including humans. We as humans and other species are simply aware of this universe at a mental level through sensory organs and our mind to interpret that awareness. We only have to learn to shut down our external senses and focus all attention within ourselves to access and experience that consciousness. That's when we become one with the whole cosmos and every other being, because all of us are one and the same.

    • @sadeivprasanna780

      consciousness is a product of conscience matters hence we cannot say consciousness is existing before this universe

    • @mayankn1
      @mayankn1 5 лет назад +1

      @@sadeivprasanna780 What you are talking about is mental awareness, which along with this universe is a manifestation of consciousness or the absolute. Our mental awareness arises out of that consciousness and not the other way round. Consciousness does not perish when we die, neither is it destroyed along with the universe. It will simply merge back in the absolute unmanifest consciousness, i.e., within itself.

      @mayankn1 5 лет назад +1

      @@sadeivprasanna780 Logical experience is not the right argument. You wont be able to defend quantum mechanics, or for that matter general relativity with that logic. That's your assumption that consciousness is a product of matter, at present you (anyone through their everyday perception) don't even know what exactly is consciousness or how to define it. Physicists are slowly concluding its not possible to make significant progress without encompassing consciousness in the equation. I'm not clear about what you are supposing. At first it sounded like a sort of spiritual claim, then switched to a sort of panpsychism. You ended with more spiritualism.
      Since we have no way to observe anything outside of our universe, I am not clear on the utility of this hypothesis.
      I'm not a big fan of panpsychism either because it redefines consciousness and supposes it as some fundamental property of all matter. This, too, has no utility that I can see.
      I do see utility in blurring the lines of consciousness, awareness, and intelligence, etc. when discussing human minds, animal minds, or artificial intelligence. I do have issues with including rocks and planets and galaxies in the mix.
      I'll draw the lines even more sharply. A smart thermostat may be said to have intelligence and perhaps awareness, but it does not have consciousness (in my world view - I offer no proof).

    Roger is an aspiring biocentrist. One missing link is that his assertion that the universe was here before consciousness is an example of the so called two realities, where the universe involves time (beginning and ending), where consiousness is timeless.

    Roger Penrose is an amazing mathematician, scientist and thinker, but that business about a chess engine not being able to win from a position produced by him is simply false and has nothing to do with AI. In his criticism of people telling him that they could program an engine that beats that position, because they are just infusing the computer with their own knowledge, he is actually also levying criticism to himself, as a chess engine is nothing else in the first place than an infusion of human knowledge about chess into a program, so in essence his position is just showing up what the people that made the chess didn't consider. I would enjoy seeing Roger Penrose create an equivalent position in Go with the same effect on AlphaGo.
