    My husband and I will tour historic homes when we are on vacation. That's when I found my style. I mix new with the old. My home is a mixture of both. Not clutter , It may take months to find the certain piece I want, that's ok. I don't care about brands, I pick what suits my home. Love your videos.

      You are really doing a beautiful job of explaining to people to create what is "you" reflected in your home's interior. We all look different so why shouldn't our homes. Why are people so concerned about other people:s opinion on our design choices? These trends and their names have become so ridiculous that I cut out a huge amount of ,",influencers" You are spot on about so many things in design. Keep up the direction of originality. About 10 years ago, Actress Jacklyn Smith (Charlie's Angels actress) said it so well. A home has to evolve. It is more rewarding to see your personality take hold in a home over time rather than keep up with the ,"Ikea" crowd and throw things away in a year because an influencer had it in their video.

      Regarding the labels, totally. Let’s not box ourselves because then we limit ourselves-better to have a mood, a direction to move in that feels right. I like the advice to look not only at things that are eye candy you like, but also at styles you maybe don’t like, but could really study and learn from. And I also think I’ve learned some of the most about longevity and timelessness by looking at old design books. Some of the pictures are so god awful and dated, then some look timeless. It will be some funny accessory like a flower arrangement of the time or a phone w a cord that gives it away. The house book by Terence Conran is like that. I never get tired of revisiting that book.

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  7 месяцев назад +1

      Haha ohmygosh I 100% know what you're talking about. I am laughing out loud over here for real, not just the acronym. I love the old design books and you really get a good lesson at how to create a timeless space but yes, some of those interiors of just dated and god awful as you said. The flower arrangements are fascinating to me because like many things, there are flowers that are trendy, same for plants. Perhaps they're somewhat off the radar in terms of talkable, vlogable, bloggable style for us? Either way, you know an outdated flower arrangement when you see it!

      A basket full of black eyed Susans in an otherwise modern interior. Verner Panton right alongside bicentennial early American antique everything. Yikes! Christina, the camel colored swivel chair(?) behind you is exactly what I am thinking of doing in my living room cottage, unless I do cream slipcovered chairs instead. Can you please share where it is from and if it swivels and is comfy? I have a small, awkward living room and so I am thinking of doing four chairs in a circle with a round rustic coffee table in the middle, or a chaise and three chairs. My entire room is Benjamin Moore, Simply white , including the floors (when my husband finishes installing, screwing and plugging and then painting them). It is also mostly windows and a sliding door and feels like a sun room. I am thinking of doing a cream/white, brown and camel colored pallette with a touch of black here and there.What do you think? What does our awesome community think? I want to buy one of your paintings for one wall and use one I made for another wall. I am super excited because we built this house from scratch and I have been sitting on a mattress on the floor for four years, which was a bummer when I was recovering from two heart attacks and a mini stroke last year. (damn Covid).Can you do a video on small and/or awkward shaped living rooms? Sorry for the long comment.

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio
      @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio  Месяц назад

      Long comments are okay! I love your color palette idea-that’s my wardrobe lol and colors I’m naturally drawn to for our country home.
      The chairs in the background are in a project that someone else did. It’s a model home at one of the condo developments I work on. Those chairs are lovely to look at but oddly short and difficult to get out of! Hahaha not sure why the designer picked them since they are so low to the ground, they serve no purpose. They’re also a yellow/gold color in person.
      I like your chair idea because it’s a perfect t conversation zone, though a chaise is so nice for a little nap.
      Did I get everything?

      Yes babe-it’s important for people to know it’s okay to make a mistake. I feel like people sometimes worry about that so much that they don’t want to make a decision, so they try to do/be something they’re not just so they can bypass the trial and error, i.e. let someone else decide.
