Thanks for sharing your layout. It is one of the hardest decisions to make, especially if you have an awkward shaped room or you want both cozy (fireplace) but entertainment. Also, I think we’ve been so trained for so long to think our homes have to be designed a certain way or we need to keep up with the trends. You’ve shown us that we need to make it our own sanctuary, adding not only functional pieces but ones we love. Thank you so much 🫶

    • @ChristinaDiStefanoStudio

Christina, Thank you so much for those heartfelt words. I think that since I was a young girl, I have always sought to create a sanctuary in my home...it felt intentional, and I was always driven to do so- but now, more than ever- do we feel the significance of creating an environment that will allow us to feel at peace, and at the same time to be inspired, so that we may continue to expand in knowledge (within ourselves, most importantly, as well as expand in what we learn of the world we inhabit- and our place within it). It is true, that some interior designers, or shows of interior design- are done for the wrong reasons (imo)- driven by showing off, or changing constantly for trends rather than what speaks to who one is, as an individual soul- encompassing all their experiences, tastes, and individuality. Your focus and inspiration for this channel is what draws such a beautiful community here. I do think that probably all of us here, resonate exactly with your sentiments in your final statement. Beautiful.

Loved the video again. With each subject I went in my mind through my livingroom (I'm on vacation right now) and thought of my choices. I think a lot of your points were adressed by me. Of course I have to put my sofa against the small wall, dividing my seating area from my kitchen, because it is only 3 meters to the window. Functionally I love to look out of the window. In the past I have had other layouts, but I love to have my fake mantle as the main focal point in an otherwise blanc box. Also my bookcase has a special place.
I love your rug situation! Would never choose a rug like that, because of my different style, but in your home it makes it all come together. With all the light and dark neutrals. Great quality!!
Your final note resonates with me big time. I often thank God for my home, my save haven and sanctuary. And I also pray daily for people in unsafe places, like refugees and child'ren that are beging abused. I get you with your emphasis on this notion. That is why your video's have so much depth.

I really enjoyed your commentary on decorating a home. I’m in limbo right now with my home for sale, but not much buyer interest. I’ve only lived here 1 yr and bought this house unseen in person from out of state. However, in 1 yr we already made this house very cozy and yet we’re thinking of moving so we can have a little more property. It’s hard because I’m sort of torn either way. I think it’s because I’m such a homebody at heart and feel nurtured by my personal space …

Oh yes I know those feelings! I get very connected to my home and I’ve moved many times! Anyway we walked in (not looking to buy furniture), I saw these and was like, “We have to buy them!” Best $700-$800 we spent in a long time.
I’m not sure if she still makes these but I’ve tried to find them online. They’re actually very well made and sturdy. The fabric is tweed and has pin-tucking-in case you go searching online.

Layout has been such a process in our home. It’s 576 sq ft and one room. Separate bath and utility (mini laundry room) room. We are on our 4th dining table and chairs. A 36” round table with the right color variation and height with chairs that tucked in to keep things functional as you walk around was hard to find. Plus we use it so much we didn’t want to buy something expensive and have to be a bit fussy with it. We opted for the (Ikea) Mariedamm table and two Yngvar chairs. We also have that space in our home when you come out of the main hallway and walk to the kitchen there’s a short wall. On that short wall we have had…🤔 an armoire (too bulky and dark), a book shelf (too busy & not functional), now we have the Potter Barn Reed Buffet in soft black. It’s super functional and there is a place for books and a small quantity of office supplies. Our printer will fit inside as well. The depth is perfect and the style is simple. I’ve also had to learn about the shape of furniture. When to use a glass top table over a solid wood, or metal. How much black to infuse in the space, how much wood. We chose not to have a television since our space is so small, we just use our devices to watch things. You videos help so much because you incorporate really practical tips and seeing your space is so useful. I would love the Perseus Sconce on the wall over the Reed Buffet…🤔✨I think it would be so pretty at night all lit up. ❤❤❤
