    “Avoid rubbing in circles or rubbing up and down” as he rubs the seatbelt up and down. Great advice.

    I usually pull the seatbelt all the way out and clamp, then shut the door and pressure wash it. Works amazing!

      YOU DO NOT WET CLEAN SEATBELTS! This compromises the structural integrity and removes the flame resistance.

      @@jiffyclean9429 why the hell would I need flame resistance?? If seatbelts burns imma sure burn with it or already be out of the car

    Larry is the one guy I trust with my car. Watching him on Ammonyc channel has made me into a novice detailer . I've learned so much from him. 👌

    My 2 year old vomited on his child seat’s belts. The padding is machine washable but the seat belts don’t come off.
    No matter what we did the car smelled like vomit. Not a pleasant driving experience is an understatement.
    Cleaned the seat belt with the vinegar and dish soap trick. Now the smell is gone!
    Thanks for the great advice.

    Use fabric cleaner, brush, dilute and use all purpose cleaner if necessary. Use a steam machine if you have one.

    There any solutions on how to get a black marker stain removed from a beige seat belt strape without discoloring it in white.

    This should help. I think I have everything including a steam cleaner with an attachment for smaller work. I'll do this first thing tomorrow morning. I just had the car detailed and they really didn't do much if anything to the seat belts.

    Would it work to just give the seatbelt a quick tug once you've pulled it all the way out, so that it simply locks itself at (nearly) full extension? May not even need the clip!

    • @Rayfaedundee
      @Rayfaedundee 2 года назад +1

      No you need the clip or the retaining device, because as soon as you’ve pulled the seatbelt to lock it then let the seatbelt go again, the slack would release the locking device and it would just retract back in. !!!

    so does anyone know if there's some sort of fabric conditioner I should use afterwards. the seat belts worked just fine but after cleaning them and coming back the next days the rollers didn't seem to want to take the seat belt back without some assistance and the belts felt dry and stiff

    I’ve seen other RUclips videos where people are soaking the belt in a bucket of soapy water. Is that bad? I would think once it’s dried, it will get all stiff if all the soap isn’t removed?

    LET THEM DRY! Had to wash my passenger seat belt because my wife had a fun night and barfed all over it. Fried pickles and wine...yuck. After washing it and scrubbing it...I'd say number one thing...ALWAYS make sure you give your seat belt time to DRY before letting it spool back in place! I had a old suv someone detailed for us years ago. They washed the belts, but didn't give it time to dry and let the belts spool back in place The car became undriveable with mold spawning on the belts, dashboard and the seats. It was ruined. This time around (Barf time around), I let the belts dry for 3 days in the garage, windows down and a fan placed in the car blowing on the belt. Also hit them (lightly and in constant motion) with a heat gun every couple hours, placed a dehumidifier in the car. Also let belt/car sit in the sun in the driveway with the windows down. Then finally, I let the belt spool back in place. Might seem overkill, but was my dream car I could finally afford (10 thousand miles on it) and wanted ZERO mold! Again..make sure you let the belts dry %100! Or you will have far, far bigger issues then simply a dirty seat belt, trust me.

    Larry, how will this affect the fire retardant properties of certain manufacturers' seat belts?

    • @egn83b
      @egn83b 7 лет назад +1

      In reality the seat belt is a cotton polyester material those don't burn they smolder and fray when exposed to heat.

    • @OMGWTFLOLSMH
      @OMGWTFLOLSMH 7 лет назад +15

      WTF? Who would even think of this? Are seat belts bursting into flames and killing people? If so, I haven't heard of it. In what scenario would this be of any concern? Please link to any story of someone being killed or injured by a seat belt fire. If the interior of the car is so hot that a seat belt combusts, you have bigger problems to worry about.
