  • Had to get the log truck out and boy was she heavy!! This Burr oak isn't light and the mud didn't help. Had to get the D6 on the log truck to get it out!! The prentice slasher had to come out as well but that was a little easier, there is not as much weight as the other equipment.

    Great job with the dozer. I bought a new Cat D6H in 1990, never went to the shop during my ownership of 26 years (13,800 hrs.), great machines.
    Thanks for the video.

      arkansas13 I bought that D6h in 1995 from MI Cat with low hours and all new iron, it's a 1992 and has 10,000 hours on it now. We have never had any serious issues with it, if we ever need another one I'm buying Cat.

    I'm sorry but this truck will always have trouble in mud or snow with so many "lazy" axles, unless it has two more powered one... I mean it has 7 axles on a long chasis but only two of them has traction and they cannot give enough power to push all truck because of other lazy ones. If you need more axels for more load capacity, you should use a 8x4 or 8x6 combination with diff lock, so you can save more time and fuel for the rest of your trip ;)

    How many bf can you fit on that log truck? Just curious

  • @JacobGilkerson
    @JacobGilkerson 7 лет назад

    That's an impressive load. Does that log truck have three sets of drives or is that just a pusher?

    • @cooksforest2811
      @cooksforest2811 7 лет назад +1

      Jacob Gilkerson Two drive axles and 4 airlift axles on the lead, there steerable air lifts did you notice that the last one on truck was turning sideways in the mud, that is one problem with them in muddy conditions they will turn sideways and makes it harder to push out.

      Cooks Forest I can see it better now. the internet was slower on my end earlier today......a little fuzzy. Didn't notice the tag before either. That's some weight there. You guys do good work with that flail chipper. That morbark puts out some consistent chips compared to the chippers I've used. I've never ran a flail type. The clearing company I worked at had/has a couple big bandits. They worked well but the chip quality wasn't even close to what you have with that machine. Their chips were/are just burnt up I'm assuming yours must go to a pulp plant or something

    • @cooksforest2811
      @cooksforest2811 7 лет назад +3

      Jacob Gilkerson They go to a paper mill, their specs are pretty tight, but this chipper does great with a 90-92 percent accepts average, we're required a 86 percent minimum. We have been producing flail chips since 1994, we bought one of the first generation flail-chip combo units Morbark built, it was very reliable and made good chips we own 2 of them and run them until 2013, now their used for backups and small jobs. John has videos of them. The 2755 we now have is a fifth generation and has many improvements and technology that has been great, Morbark has spent years and a lot of money to develop them, I feel they are the best ones you can buy.

    On past history and experience how often do you get in a mud mess like this? Is it just early in the winter or does it happen again in the Spring when the ground thaws out?

    • @cooksforest2811
      @cooksforest2811 7 лет назад +2

      Dan Whiteford Every season change usually brings mud. This job was a winter job that would have been fine, we had that could weather a couple of weeks ago and then we got warm weather and rain that made it a mess. Just was bad timing, went over there this afternoon and it was freezing up nicely and would have had no mud problems.

    gland I wasn't riding in the loader. fairly sure my butt would have puckered up a couple times. looked like it was close to going over.
    just curious why don't you guys put the tag axles down? wouldn't it pull easier? I know you need to pick up some if not all to turn

    • @leebarnes655
      @leebarnes655 7 лет назад

      No, worse - they just ball up the mud better. The ones that are down in the muck aren't turning at ground speed either. They just kinda roll sometimes. But as soon as the frozen bottom comes up some then they roll and she's free. Tag axles = drag. And they are a bit short on push and pull already.

    Why doesn't he open up his grapple and pick up the front of the loader then pull 100 percent easier

    • @brandenhoward6301
      @brandenhoward6301 7 лет назад +1

      Jay Harris I was thinking the same thing since the back axles are the ones with the power. it would keep the steer tires from bogging the front down.
