  • If you were a '90s kid who watched Nickelodeon, there's a good chance you had nightmares about one show in particular: Are You Afraid of the Dark? In this episode, I talk about my obsession with this kids horror show from the early '90s, some of the most iconic celebrity cameos from the show, and count down my top 10 favorite episodes from the Nickelodeon classic.

You've got an amazing charisma/aura and it's easy and somehow soothing listening to you! Keep it up!

I'm so glad you mentioned the magic mirror episode! I remember watching a few AYAotD episodes around '99 at a friend's house, and that one STILL lives rent-free in my head to this day!

I too was more of a Nick then Disney girl until Lizzie McGuire premiered. But my favorite AYAOTD episode was The Tale of the Prom Queen because I thought the male characters were so cute

Also, AYAOTD, Goosebumps, and many of the old Nick shows have what I can only describe is the "Canadian 90s" feel, a lot of TV movies from this time have the same feeling

I was so obsessed with Are You Afraid of the Dark!! To this day the lonely ghost and the movie theater episodes still scare the crap out of me at 40 years old 😱 Amazon Prime has the seasons and I’ve been thinking about buying them and binging them on the weekends with some wine because I’ll probably be too scared still to watch lol

Fun Fact about Alex Mack: Jessica Alba is in a few episodes of the first season. She plays the mean girl, Jessica I think.
Roundhouse was supposed to be Nickelodeon's version of In Living Color, I think. Just like how In Living Color would have their group of dancers that would come out, Roundhouse did the same thing.
OMG, I loved Space Cases. I think some of the episodes are still findable on RUclips.
When I found out that the kid who played Harlan was the same actor from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, I was stunned. There was actually one or two times in the series where he referred to the ship's command post as the command center, which is where the Power Rangers went to see Zordon on the other show.
The actor in The Mystery Files of Shelby Wu who played Noah went on to play Warren in Buffy, who eventually got flayed by Willow when she turned evil out of rage from him killing her girlfriend.
I know I already posted quite a bit on this video, but I have to say this. The Tale of the Mystical Mirror is like the basis for a Dateline episode. Think about it. It's an older woman, preying on young girls/teenagers who work in her shop. She selects the ones that she finds attractive and invites them to her house in the middle of nowhere. She tells them how attractive they are and gives them a drink laced with something that makes them loopy. Once they're incapacitated (and also turned into dogs), she locks them in cages in the woods to then sacrifice them so she can stay young. With the exception of the last part, it really does sound like the plot to a True Crime story. Good thing Nickelodeon made shows like this back in the day. Nowadays, forget it.

I think you might be thinking of the actress Allison Mack who was on Smallville. Unless someone from the secret world of Alex Mack also was and I don’t know about it!
