- Dr. Cliff Olson, Audiologist from Anthem Arizona, reviews the MDHearingAid "AIR" Hearing Aid. MDHearingaid.com is a Direct-to-Consumer Online hearing aid brand that sells low-cost hearing aids. They claim to have hearing aid that are just as good as hearing aids purchased in a clinic.

So what did I find?
1. The devices are comfortable, but they do not provide a reliable fit, and the ear tips would often fall out of my ears.
2. The devices come pre-programmed, which means they are not accurately programmed to specific hearing loss prescriptions. They did provide some good amplification, just not perfectly to a specific hearing loss.
To see how a hearing aid is properly programmed, watch my video on Real Ear Measures: • The Most Important HEA...
3. Their "Advanced Noise Reduction" did not lower background noise during testing.
4. Their "Feedback Canceler" did not cancel feedback.
5. Customer service is acceptable.
6. Their warranty only covers repairs, not loss and damage. You can only extend it for 1 additional year (2 maximum years of warranty).
7. Returns are easy, just make sure you wait at least 21 days and call for a return code, otherwise they will not refund 100% of your money.
8. They are low cost, you might even say cheap! At only $800 for a pair, the MDHearingAid "AIR" is definitely affordable.
9. If you want to give them a try, great. Just don't be fooled by the marketing hype. Medical Doctors are not specifically trained in amplification and are inherently qualified to design a hearing aid.
10. They are not even close to the quality of even basic hearing aid models purchased from an audiology clinic, nor do they come with "hands on" professional service and custom programming. Comparing the MDHearingAid "AIR" to a traditional hearing aid in price is like comparing Apples to Oranges. If you are okay with this, then they are worth a shot.

Hey Everyone, let me know your thoughts!
My mom is age 89 living in Long Term care home. She has Phonak Audeo V50 312T. She has lost one in the home in the last month. They are $1900 each to replace. Too expensive for us. I like the idea of the MD air Digital as they are much cheaper. She may lose another and at the rates her Hearing Aid supplier charge, as her overseer of her funds I cant justify $1900 for a replacement hearing aid. What do others do in this case of ours ? I liked your Review of the MD Air hearing aids. You did a good job. This is the second hearing aid review of yours that I have watched. Keep up the good work. Tony K, Kelowna BC Canada
I'm glad to see a review of MD hearing aids. I bought them after trying different inexpensive ones like Siemens, Advanced Affordable, Nano (bad and poor service)
Banglijian, so so.
I was checked out by a Kaiser audologist. Their aids were too expensive. Also tried Costco after I purchased MD. I frankly couldn't tell that much difference.
I've noted that my hearing problem is being able to distinguish those first consonants e.g. cat, matt, bat, pile, mile etc I have to say the MD does a good job on that.
And I got them half price, under $200 each. . . Which I think is still darned expensive.
Thanks for your reviews.
hi Dr. Cliff. Thank You so much for this informative video. You raised as well as answered some of my question. Hearing test more definitively confirmed what i already knew which helps me choose better. The online access to better hearing is still a big improvement obviously and i appreciated your effort to be objective about your evaluation. Take Care. Namaste
I’m glad to see you’re back. You’re glad to see my front.
Bought a pair of these last August 2018, and they are fantastic, comfortable, and most of all, can allow me to hear perfectly.
Im 40, and have many years left to enjoy life!!!
hello is is the air hearing aid adjustable ? i just went to know if i can change the way i hear things if it’s too loud or quiet
@@alyssa-qi6ek yep, def adjustable. There is a volume control which I never touch. There is a button to either drown out background noise, noise around you to minimum, and more. The key is to get it to where you are ok with it and not needing to change the volume, but to control only the noise around you.
Thank you for your review, looking to buy a hearing aid for my dad. He has his TV volume cranked up to 100!
Great job Cliff!
Very informative! Thanks!
Thanks for the details - any thoughts on how these compare to the Bose Hearphones?
Excellent assessment.
Thanks Maddy!
I keep thinking for the first time that you will inspire me; deny me nothing.
You lighted my heart
Very interesting. For some reason I always thought there stuff was programmed to your audiogram. Didn't realize they just had pre-programmed modes. Do you have a ranking of most common to least common types of hearing loss, by any chance? I would assume High frequency slope would be the most common.
hey Doc great videos,.. i have done a test and i do need hearing aids but to for work but when i have a low talker, also which is the best Bluetooth aids that works with androids and not tooo expensive, i hear starky is a great Bluetooth for android, let me know thanks Doc
Have you reviewed the MDhearingaid Core, yet? My husband is interested in it, but it is pricier than the Air. Thanks!
I have problems with these. I sweat a lot and eventually after a couple months it gets into the hearing aid and they stop working. Anyway to prevent this? I love they are priced so low, and they work great but don't last for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Great Review
Oh wow! That's Marvellous I appreciate your Image
I have used several MD hearing aid models and I've found that, although the Air model does provide a superior sound quality, the recharge time is 13 hours at best with average recharge time for my left Air hearing averaging 11 hours. Put them on at 9am & they quit at 10pm.
Hello Dr Cliff, first of all thank you for putting these informative videos out on RUclips. I have really enjoyed them and learned a lot. I have Tinnitus and was wondering if there is a hearing aid that actually helps with that issue?
Beautiful video
Dr. Olson - what RealEar equipment did you use for this video? Easier to read than my Frye Fonix system. Thanks for the review.
I use the Otometrics Aurical. I've used the Frye, Verifit, and Aurical. The Aurical is my favorite for easily counseling my patients.
Have you tested the new volt+ models yet?
And fast! And deep! Good luck!
You're a gift to those around you
Do they ship worldwide
What should you do
Better alternative?
An Honest assessment from a legal Audiologist who mentions both the good and bad features of this device.
Have you tested their Life Core aides? $1,600 a pair?
You Made Me Smile
Very good information
Dr. Cliff pushes me to come
I just received mine today. Yes! Very nice.

¿Tomaste un curso sobre cómo hacer que me corriera?
Yessss! This is Nice!
Do you like it when I move myself here?
Recently accidentally broke one of my Windex hearing aid. I couldn't get replaced because the hearing center was closed due to the pandemic. Ordered MD volt with rechargeable unit for $649.00. on line. Was pleasantly surprised worked just as good as the Windex $6,000.00 hearing aids. Ray Rust
Makes me seriously question how well your Widex hearing aids were programmed. Because if the MD Volt sound as good, your provider likely didn't do a good job of programming them.
Woah ! I love it
Dr Cliff, I just purchased the md volt hearing aid. I have a drop at 900 htx strait to the bottom what of the 4 settings should i use? I trust you more than others. Could you do a review on the volt?? thx Tom Hebb
Hi Tom, not sure I will have a review of the MDHearingAid Volt anytime soon. I have a ton of other brands that I still need to review. Keep me posted on your experience though.
@@DrCliffAuD thank you and will do!!
Did you make a class on how to make it for me?
These look just like the ones I bought at Walmart for $49. They weren't very good at all. Is there really any difference? You seem like a nice person. What is your angle? It's hard to know who to trust.
I thought you did a fantastic job giving us information on this product. I was almost going to turn you off when you got into a lot of the technical stuff, but I just fast forwarded you until you got to the actual pros & cons. I have gone to their website after finding their ad in a magazine and the price seemed doable. I liked what I saw on their website and so I wanted to see if there were any reviews here on "RUclips?" Thank you again for a great review!
This would probably work for me until things get worse. But these are a much better approach than simple flat amps.
Keep such video videoing
are there any bte hearing aids that is easy to adjust volume quickly...when you are in an environment that is getting ready to be explosively loud you want to reach up and turn the volume down quick to save yourself from further damaged hearing,,,also which ite hearing aids are the best that have an easy volume control...thanks
For this, I typically recommend a hearing aid with Bluetooth so you can immediately mute the devices in the app. However, your hearing care professional should limit the Max Potential Output (MPO) of the devices to a level that will not cause damage. If the environment that you go into is truly "explosively loud" then you should remove your hearing aids and use hearing protection to preserve what you have left.
Profoundly interesting
You're like sunshine on a rainy day
Congrats... Spectacular *
I transmitted all this to you!
Do you have it if I put me here?
Hast du einen Kurs besucht, wie man mich zum Abspritzen bringt?
It's beautiful
Have you spoken to them in the past?
I will do six things for your honest review
I love how it sounds when you miss me. Listen to this?
Nothing made my arrival as difficult as that
Test the t-coil
Bring me in Dr. Cliff
I will continue your ticket tonight Mr. Cliff
So beautiful
When you have done to me to do the course?
Provides pre-calculation changes
I just want to ask how to fix the left device which doesn't work. The right device is ok
Fix it by returning it and getting a quality set of prescription hearing aids instead.
@@DrCliffAuD I am from Philippines sir. How do I return the device? Thanks
I rather be going directly to Professional Audiologist at their own office and have both doctors and audiology and hearing Aids Repairer and hearing testing and hearing Aids fitting correctly at the same place .
Make me come Dr. Cliff

looks fishy- magazine ad says 2 for $199, web site says cheapest 2 for $299-- looks a fly by night, cheap, fast buck outfit to me. but real ones are ridiculous
Thought same thing too
@@TheMalizgue I have had MD Air for 5 years. lost one and dog chewed the other, got a second set of air at now lower price. hey work for me, they ahve excellent customer service and I saved Thousands of dollars.
I want you to be determined first. Then I want to kiss every part of my joke.
I want to give you so much review, you can’t click anymore.

Did you take any courses to make me your homeland?
I have nothing to improve, going straight to my vilalo
"phenomenal"
The death of those do you?
I had a soul to ride here, and my back is killing me
This was a well made instructional video of a specific hearing aid, BUT what the hell is going on with this comment section? Why are the comments so inappropriate and offensive? They are NOT even relevant to the topic of "hearing aids", much less the specifics of THIS particular brand and model. Where are comments like this coming from and why? They are ridiculous, juvenile, and just plain idiotic! I can see why the OP never returned anyones questions. This video was made into a joke! Hopefully, there is a useful video and comment section elsewhere that wasn't tranpled on like this one was.
