I got some tips from building a high end gaming PC in this case. #1.Remove the top case brace as it is not really needed. 2# go for the Arctic freezer 240 AIO as it has a much thicker radiator to absorb those CPU temps if using something like a i7 or higher, but don't use the included Arctic fans as they are not the best and are loud. 3# once brace is removed u can shuffle the Rad over to the left a little which allows for a full size 120mm exhaust fan on the right side, this is very important as it's your main exhaust for case heat. #4 Pick an ATX motherboard that does not have the USB 3 header at the bottom of the board most modern boards have them on the side anyhow, it's a little tight but u can fit two full size 120mm fans on the left side as intakes even over the front header ports. #5 With being a living room HTPC Gaming PC go with 5x BeQuiet Silent wings 4 120mm PWM 1600rpm fans so it's nice and quiet along with 2x Pure wings 2 80mm rear exhaust fans. #6 get an ATX 3 Bequiet or similar PSU with a pcie 5 power cable so u can easily install something like a RTX 4080. #7 go for a motherboard with plenty of NVME ports as these drives are so cheap now, and u don't want to take up space or hear mechanical hard drives spinning. And also u dont really want to fit or take up space with the 3.5" bays. It's been a lot of trail and error but my build is 14700K/RTX 4080 with 6 nvme Drives for the ultimate 4K Home gaming & PLEX server in one. :)
Good tips thanks. Pretty similar to my GD09 builds with all Silent Wings fans but using smaller Noctua U9S / D9L air coolers with dual and triple fan setups.
Me too. I was even looking for cheap basic ATX mid tower cases that could easily unscrew the feet and have a clean black underside so I could turn it on its side and use it horizontal. I need a case with a width of no more than 8 inches as that is the height clearance for my Media rack. I have found a few options but haven't found one that I am sold on will look good. I likely will just order this spendy GD11 case as it appears perfect for what I want, just not the $170 price.
so, after year of usage, I can say this desktop chasis is just great for nowadays usage... it's perfectly high to fit with watercooled RTX4090 (water exits are horizontal - vertical wont fit so be careful what card you buy, because there is only several vendors where such waterblock will work; oh! and remember about angled CableMod adapter to power your RTX), transparent enough to stay with passive + water cooling only (watercooled mainboard doesn't need any ventilation on RAM, power blocks or chipset), and the diameters are just alike to regular AVR equipment you would like to put into your "under-TV shelve" :) even the biggest ATX PSU gets there without any problems :) the only one thing I don't like is the dust collecting on front panel, so I need to extra clean it once a month (not big deal, but just so you know)... this box will stay with me for many years, I expect :) Oh! 5" drives? forget about them, put them into external bay via USB, because most likely, if not already, you will be using them occasionally, like I do... thank you @Glob3Tech and SilverStone :)
@@Glob3Tech well, I had quite specific setup to fit into "any" desktop build... first challenge was mobo - MSI MPG X570S CARBON EK; next G.SKILL Trident Z Neo DDR4; next 2x M.2 Samsung 980Pro and 2x M.2 990Pro; next mentioned RTX4090 with AlphaCool waterblock; all powered by 1.6kW PSU... each and every component with own challenges (size, power requirements, airflow requirements) thanks to your video I've found the only one to risk with - and it works perfectly fine :) flawlessly since almost a year :) cheers!
As more people focus on streaming and higher end gaming this case is a step in that direction. I have two GD09 in service and they are two small to house larger GPU’s. I have blu ray 5.25 drives sitting on the shelf as playing bluray over the years has been nothing but a hassle after a few hundred dollars spent on playback software. I just use stand alone bluray players that also work from my harmony one remotes.
@@ereder1476 Hm, not that strong. It will bend I think, if just on the pannel. If the weight would be distributed more on the structure as you said, it should be ok with a normal monitor.
I already have two GD09 built with pretty descent systems 7600x/7800X3D both on X670 and both with smallish 6700XT's that barely fit. I have a 6800XT MERC I want to install on the 7800X3D system but it won't fit. I so want to buy this case but I'm cheap and wish I could find one used or open box. $170 new yikes. I think I paid $40 for my last GD09 and you can buy those new for $80.
It's okay to have the PSU fan intaking from the case and use it to exhaust warm air from the case. It's usually fine unless you're running the PSU at a high load.
@@Glob3Tech All adjustable though. I am currently looking for a nice case for in the living room. I am most concerned about functionality and cooling (thus noise) over esthetics. Its gonna go into a cabinet, but when we use it the door can be open. If you have any tips or suggestions sir! Thanks in advance
@@powersource1988 If you are going for an ATX build and this case fits your cabinet, yes, it's a good choice. Plus you are after a silent build, you can swap out the fans anyway. For this flat layout, don't know many other variants. I myself prefer the tower/monolith approach like the NZXT H1 or the Silverstone Alta G1M. I covered the Alta on the channel as well. Just because I like the small footprint vertically.

I wish there were more horizontal/HTPC style case available. (Aside from the slim console imitations)

Ive had a GD10 for years, and the main limitation was cooling, this looks good though.

No 5,25 bay for UHD Blu-Ray drive nonsense, I stick with Grandia 09.

@@45eno Very nice! Indeed. For my personal PCs, I do the same, get them second hand. Currently have the NZXT H1 V1.
The cases specs say two rear 80mm fans do you think it is possible to fix 92mm fans instead even with a little modding involved
Might be on the limit but should work 🤞
I think the power supply is installed the other way around. The PSU sucks the warm air from the processor.

Would this fit a 4090 properly

How is the weight without config and with config ?
Around 5 kg as is. With components, don't know, don't have a scale that big.
The front panel is junk. I have had nothing but problems with buttons not secured usb c is unusable.
