It is my go to gun, I have other more expensive shotguns but the Beretta is light ,fast ,comfortable, great looking, and for around two grand you can't beat it!
The “field” version also has auto ejectors, optional 26” 28” or 30” barrels, and a slightly smaller and 5oz lighter rear wood stock. The field model also comes with a schnabel forend grip as an option.
I’ve owned my current Silver pigeon for just over five years. I agree with everything the reviewer says. I like to shoot gun down rather than pre-mount and in my option this where SP does very well as it’s nicely balanced between the hands. My all time favourite was the Gold E.
I have a Silver Pigeon II Sporting 20ga / 28ga combo set. It is a fantastic gun, light and quick pointing with either barrel set. Great feel in the hands and well balanced. Can't say enough good about it !
Got my SP 1 Field in Sep 2021. I love it. Two things: first, the factory recoil pad is garbage - I replaced it with a Limbsaver after the first trip to the range. Second, the auto-safety is irritating and embarassing at the range. I disabled it after my fourth trip to the range - I simply removed the metal piece so it's a reversible change although I doubt I'll ever go back. Given the chance, I'd buy it all over again. I love it!
Always been a Browning guy but two months ago bought a new 686 SP1 Sporting for my wife because it seemed to fit her well. She has shot ok with it but when I was cleaning it for her (the things we do huh!) I noticed that the left side of the monoblock and jewelling had very significant scratches and damage from closing the action and the corresponding inside of the receiver had a bad wear patch. The right recoil lug face also had wear over 50% of its surface while the left was all bright steel! Of course the action has been kept spotlessly clean and appropriately greased at all times. So either the barrels and/or the receiver were not manufactured straight, damage will continue to worsen and recoil/ accuracy will be affected! The retailer basically blew me off and so far Beretta have not responded to emails. Definitely the last time I buy Beretta!
This is the outcome of beretta being a 100% machine built gun, miroku/browning for me as they are finished by hand and you can feel/see the quality gap, hopfully they come to the party as thats not on
I got one, and then the COVID lockdown kicked-in again, and I can't shoot it! It could be a couple more weeks before the level drops to the point where shooting grounds are open again. With my luck, the level will drop, but the club won't have anything scheduled. Nothing is more annoying than having a new gun you cannot shoot. It is like getting a new bike for Christmas and not getting to ride it until spring!!
It fits me. It's a great gun imo/e. I'd rather have it than anything else. Dad has an expansive range of shotguns, but this is my 'it'. Sell the rest and I'm fine with this one.
After a few thousand rounds trough mine I am very happy with the silver pigeon, especially as I am a lefty and it was the cheapest option cast for me. However I do wish Beretta had left out the terrible laser "engraving" and saved me a bit of cash. It would have given the gun a more modern DT11 look and less bargain basement.
I have a Beretta 686 Ultralight and it only allows 2 3/4 inch shells to be fired due to the aluminium receiver. I have never fired it but I was wondering whether firing 2 3/4 inch SG’s or solid slugs would be advisable do to the aluminium? Or should I just stick to No. 4 or 6 shot?
They are overpriced, good guns yes- but no hand finsishing anywhere, how it's worth 1000 more than an mk70 miroku, or 600 more than a 525 is beyond me, you can get a grade 3 mk10 for less than a silver pigeon, paying a big upmark for the b name on it
Superb review, covering absolutely everything you’d ever need to know in a compact form. Top Banana!

I just purchased the silver pigeon with a 28’ barrel to use for clay bird shooting. Thanks for the cracking good video mate. Best of luck to you.
Absolutely love my Silver Pigeon II. Throws around beautifully. My kids also love shooting it so I’ll most probably be buying a couple more soon…
ngl, it is nice to see gun channels from other countries with similar tastes

I have the 686 Field model. I use it for hunting and clay shooting. It’s a great all-round gun for me.

I just picked up the SPI in 12 gauge with 32” barrels yesterday to go with my 20 gauge. It’s my birthday present to myself. Have fun, Tony

Beretta silver pigeon 1 field model does not have ejectors ?
Is this an ambidextrous gun? Or can we choose left/right hand?
