The fact that Stockton had the most assists and Malone had second highest points, and their consistency puts them #2 behind Magic and Kareem. Jordan and Pippen always had a third and fourth excellent team member to help with those championships (Rodman, Kerr etc) While Stockton and Malone never had that. I'm a bitter old Jazz fan...lol

Utahn here and yeah we’ve been an athletic wing player that can create his own shot and defend away from a championship for three and a half decades now
I appreciate you going way back to Cousey & Russell, since they were my introduction to beautiful basketball played at the highest level, just as I was really watching the game for the first time along side my dad, as I was approaching the age where I could actually play on my school teams. Too often I see these two guys overlooked, as few commentators want to go that far back in time. But I swear, I once saw Cousey drop all five opponents to the floor as he went on a dribbling & ball handling rampage, going behind the back, between the legs & all around the court--a show of true wizardry, to finish by scoring the game winning point. He was simply dazzling, in a way you just don't see anymore, because the game has changed so much. He was ahead of his time, yet of his time, & complimented Russell perfectly.

Hakeem the Dream & Clyde the Glide deserve a mention...back to back NBA titles and MVP for Hakeem...clyde the glide 10x NBA all-star
Before that era, in 1984-1987, Hakeem also had former great partner : Ralph Sampson. They are called "Twin Towers".

The late 80s Jazz had the makings of a superteam: John Stockton leading the league in both assists & steals, Karl Malone being among the leaders in points & rebounds, and Mark Eaton making a case as the greatest shot blocker in NBA history while earning his 2nd DPOY. A shame that they just couldn't get over the hump in the playoffs.

I disagree, how can you not have Willis Reed and Walt Frazier on this list. For some odd reason these two always seem to get overlooked on how great they where especially Willis Reed ( The Captain). How do you have Stockton & Malone who won no championship rings at # 5 and Willis & Clyde (Walt) won two. Even as great as Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain where individually, together they where not as good as Willis Reed and Walt Frazier, who won two rings, and if i remember correctly one of those rings they won where against Jerry West & Chamberlain .I just do not understand how NBA history never gives Willis Reed the credit he deserves, look at almost any other ranking and Willis Reed is never their. I saw a ranking of top 10 centers of all time, they had Wes Uncell & Mutumbo on it but no Willis Reed. Willis was great beyond Measure.
