Pixel 2 front camera is way better than that of iPhone X. The Pixel has the most stabilized camera ever. I think the Pixel 2 deserves the 98@DXOMark.

Overall the pixel 2 is the better camera. The iPhone wins in the slow motion and video recording categories though. And I know he was trying to make it a fair test but if he would’ve recorded on the iPhone in 4K at 60 frames per second it would’ve blown the pixel away in that category. Coming from an Apple fan. Now let the bashing from the biased android fans begin.

Sounds more reasonable 😁I would say gimmick tho, even tho you can't deny the talent over at Google, because on average, the regular customer isn't going to know much about the quality of their devices, and the tech assistants in these stores are no better. So they'll see two cameras and Mr. So called Tech Assistance will come up and explain that this second camera uses its lens for xyz, and so random customer now dips deeper into their pockets because what mr tech expert just said can't be folly.

Love your camera reviews they are the best. Simple, quick, shares everything you want to know about the cameras. I really do think after this review that phone cameras have come to a point where we really have to be amazing professional photographers so that we can find differences in the pictures. They are all great at a level where we can basically choose a phone and get a great camera.

The iPhone X is #2 (right behind the Pixel 2) when it comes to DxO soooo.... The Note 8 has the same score as the iPhone 8 Plus so pack up your shit. You're obviously very biased - How about looking at more than 1 video to compare the quality or maybe checking out DxO's tests. The Note 8's HDR is terrible and the saturation is horrible.

I disagree. In the same way that the iPhone's camera has a dynamic range problem with clipping the highlights, the Pixel seems to be clipping audio. Apple could prioritize in software to bring down overall brightness, but the physical limits of the iPhone's camera sensor would still mean lost detail; Google seems to have taken similar logic with the audio...which is interesting since in scenes with really high dynamic range, their camera sensor seems to deal with it by making the image overall darker.

The Pixel 2 XL is easily better than the iPhone X. The only times the iPhone did better was when all the lights were off and because it has an optical zoom lens. If Google can do this well with just one camera, imagine what they could do with 2!

Pixel video is worse for sure - more artifacts, doesn't handle motion so well in terms of actual video quality - though i agree built-in stabilisation better on Pixel.

Even though i don't like pixel that much because of the removal of headphone jack, i must admit it has the best smartphone camera of all time. Dxomark is legit
That's my 'only' complaint... and thats because i lost my dongle and google was out of stock... now they are back in stock i ordered 3 for redundancy and bought bluetooth headphones... and now i use BT ones 90% of the time... so the headphone jack issue is not a bother anymore

There was some back and forth on certain situations. But overall win goes to the Pixel especially for stabilization. And less blown out highlights. Very surprised how poor the portrait mode of the iPhone blurred the sides your face. Amazing what Google has done with a single lens.

I'd actually say HDR on the Pixel was much more favorable in my opinion. The Colors just look so much more true to life and I'd sacrifice a little detail in the shot if it means no overexposure to pull more detail. Not to mention the Pixel Visual Core, it's a custom chip designed in-house by Google that is designed to aid in HDR shots as well as produce a much more accurate picture. It isn't even enabled yet but I am running the beta so I'll get access to it first with my Pixel 2 XL and I have got to say its one heck of a camera, it outshines my friends' phones and I'd even say the iPhones 10 in many aspects including the camera.

People need to remember as well that the pixel has a dedicated imaging SoC which isn't even turned on yet, it's only gonna get better.
Pixel, as expected, absolutely destroys the iPhone.
Also Mr. Saf, you should not confuse lowering contrast to lighten shadows with getting more detail in them, which you have done here - a good camera will keep shadows dark as they should be, but will maintain details in that darkness.
Now compare pixel 2 & note....these 2 are the best cameras of the year

This pains me since I just ordered my Pixel 2 XL. iPhone audio recording quality is "better" with better equalization but the 2 XL's is louder but with terrible equalization, on the 2 XL it sounds like all of the background noise is really close-by and muddy, and the foreground noise is trimmed too high and seems to be clipping, not a hardware issue since it's just equalization, but regardless I would take a quiet sound over something that physically hurts my ears to listen too.

The way the pixel doesn't blur the grass completely in the back portrait mode and tries to gradually increase the blur actually makes it look better to me. The edges could be better but unless if you zoom in it's barely noticeable. Also that dynamic range tho 👌

Stabilization definitely better on the Pixel. And the iPhone definitely has a dynamic range problem, but it only has that problem in scenes where he pushed the two phones to the extreme. Take this video's opening shot for instance - he's angling it to purposely to test how they handle a relatively shadowed face against a bright sky. Great that the Pixel can handle it of course, but an iPhone owner would have the option of adjusting their placement and viewpoint to still get a great image. I do the same even when shooting on my Canon 5D Mark II.
