    I want to know the uses of t-test

  • @JosephAsamoah
    @JosephAsamoah 5 лет назад

    I am confused whether to use an independent sample t-test or unpaired sample t-test. Basically I am measuring the emotional response of 10 people(5 football fans and 5 non football fans) who watch a viral video and a separate non-viral video.

      An independent t-test and an unpaired t-test are the same thing. I think you mean paired t-test. Either way, based on your description, it sounds like you might have a 2x2 factorial between subjects design. This video might help you: ruclips.net/video/cOmbrK-TOqo/видео.html

    32 people are smokers

    • @how2stats
      @how2stats  8 лет назад +16

      +B Saxon You may be right: "A Ministry of Health nationwide survey conducted in 2011 found that 20.6% of the population aged 21 and older were smokers." Total number of thumbs for this video: 158. Thumbs down: (32 / 158)*100 = 20.3%

    • @BennKay
      @BennKay 7 лет назад +5

      Of course you found evidence to support your self serving bias. I think the confounding variable here is that the majority of the 20.3% expected you to explain in 5 minutes. My experimental hypothesis is that if you add "(part 1)" to the the video title you'll notice a significant decrease in dislikes and video views.

    Calculated t value a.k.a. Obtained t value.
    Critical t value a.k.a. Tabulated t value.

    You said the independent sample t t test is called the paired sample t test but I think the paired sample t test is rather called the dependent sample t test

    • @how2stats
      @how2stats  4 года назад

      Paired samples t-test and dependent samples t-test are used interchangeably in the literature. They represent the same test. According to Google, the term 'paired samples t-test' is used about 10 times more often than 'dependent samples t-test'.

      Ya, otherwise you could have done something great in these 5 minutes! This has become ppl's habit/fashion to say at youtube.
