I just love the 1873 Colt Single Action Army (SAA) Known as the cowboy gun, the Heritage Rough Riders replica's , come in many configurations with a cattle log of upgrade parts for customizing. There have been quality issues with them, however the three I purchased were of very good quality. Starting with the 6.5" Cavalry Model , the 4.75" Artillery Model , and the 1877 Birds head Model 3.5" card table gun the compact model of the day .

My uncle was an aerial photographer in WW2, he took the recon photos of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He brought back a 98 mauser ,which I inherited. I bought an 03A3 as its mate. It and many others will go to my son. He is kinda lucky like Hickok Jr.
Heritage Rough Rider essentially is the Colt Scout. From what I understand Heritage somehow acquired the ability to use the Colt Scout patten . ❤️❤️❤️Makes sense when you see even to the Mag cylinder in the box. If that’s the case it’s comforting to have this piece of history still alive . A little better quality control from Heritage then essentially having a Colt Scout for a 100.00 to 200.00 dollars manufactured in present times is awesome.
My dad bought one in 1959 and brought it to my mom's parent's house to show off.... until she showed him up. He wasn't sure what he had gotten into. Still have to this day.
I love the frontier scout. Sold mine a little while back and regret it. Great for young kids to learn on. They started the putting the safeties on with the colt new frontier and they had adjustable sights.

I had one and my brother had one. Mine exhibited marginal accuracy and my brother's spit lead like crazy. Colt woodsman on the other hand are beautiful and accurate. The only thing colt made besides the 1911 45 that I have any love for.
Ever come across a .22 "Pony Express" SAA made by Erl Svendsen in the late 50's ? I own one, very similar to Ruger Single-Six but it has steel frame with brass grip-frame. Info I've found is that only around 300 were made. Erl also made little single and 4 barreled .22 derringers at the time. He also made some large caliber SAA. Gotta' love them 'ol cowboy guns. Love your vids ! ;-)
It might be like buying your son or daughter their first weapon back then, a 22 pistol, or 22 lever rifle. Something to learn basic shooting, and safe handling that's fun to shoot.
My father bought one new in 1965 I was 8 and remember it we'll when he bought it. Was black with black polymer grips 22LR./22MAG. I have it now Dad mest up sanded all the black off and put brown wooden grips on it. I guess so it looked like the 1957 or so he could look like the Duke he had the holster and an early 1900 .22 Winchester pump he was one of the original urban cowboys! Anyway this 1965 has a hammer lock where you pull it one click and that locks the triger and keeps the hammer from hitting the firing pin if it we're dropped so you can carry six in it with out it being on a round. He paid $61.46 & that was with a box of ammo the gun cost $57.50 my how time's have changed!!

Its nice to hear to you guys. Thanks for all the information. Ill just say there are some countries where its legal to own and carry a cap and ball, flintlock, or fuse, historical gun, designed before, for example, 1885 (or a replica of it) without any licence, you just have to be 18. In those countries (like mine) accidents which includes using this kind of a gun can be counted on one hands fingers, yearly. So, we have free access to firing guns and people still don't want to shoot each other... whoa, how that could be happening... ;)
The frame is made from ZAMAC. Short for Zinc, Aluminum, Magnesium, and Copper. I have a Nevada Centennial 1964. It was the 100 year celebration of Nevada statehood. It has nickel enhancements with two cyls. Another fun gun from Colt.
There were 3 frame materials used over the years. Aluminum was the first offered (F serial) then Zamia starting in 62 and finally steel (later Peacemaker and New Frontier models). I have a 66 F frame with the l22 mag cylinder that is always tucked into the pack when I’m hiking the trails here. Perfect camp pistol and very lightweight.
Back in the day I owned a High Standard Double Nine. Aluminum Frame. Double and single action. .22 cal. I bought it for $50.00 in 1968. I was 18 years old. It was the first handgun first I ever purchased. Bought it at Target !!! Regret selling it.

I have one from my late grandfather. Mine is a 62, all black. I probably put a few thousand rounds through it as a kid. Thanks for doing this!
i bought the colt frontier scout 22lr from a pawn shop...it was made 1958 it is a q model....i enjoy shooting it a lot.....
My dad bought one in 1959 and brought it to my mom's parent's house to show off.... until she showed him up. He wasn't sure what he had gotten into. Still have to this day.
Another nice gun in the collection. Like to see an mk9 cmmg they look pretty nice thinking of getting one all kinds of new stuff at Florida shot show
Gotta love wheel guns. I've never had one jam, six shots that you know will shoot!
Looks like a good little gun for my boys! I have to get them a .22 revolver!
I have the one my dad bought in 1958. Still have the sales receipt. It is nickel finish with black grips. It was 50 dollars brand new.
I love the frontier scout. Sold mine a little while back and regret it. Great for young kids to learn on.
They started the putting the safeties on with the colt new frontier and they had adjustable sights.
Looks like a fun gun. I've got a Ruger single six, and it works great as well. Plus my grandfather built an elk antler handle for it. Also, nice hat Hickhok
Love your vids ! ;-)
Hi
It might be like buying your son or daughter their first weapon back then, a 22 pistol, or 22 lever rifle. Something to learn basic shooting, and safe handling that's fun to shoot.
good job on the video hickok!!! don't stop what you are doing!!
Mornin,Sir. Hard to imagine you sending a Colt Single action back. Ironically, that is the most recent firearm that followed me back home. Its the Buntline model with adjustable sights. And the traditional black, hard rubber grips
Hey Hickok45, if you “is” a cowboy then how about riding in on a horse (or John) the next time.👍🏻
Indeed, '45 has the land, if I had the land, and the money, I'd have a horse or two. Instead I make do with visiting friends' horses.
Horses are a losing business. And...you dont have to feed a bicycle
@@southernbuck101georgia2 Some people "get" horses, others don't. They are amazing creatures, I've been blessed by being able to spend time in fields with 20 horses, watching them interact and having them come to me for attention was magical. There's nothing like having a 2,200 pound Belgian follow you around like a puppy to put the world's woes at bay.
Howdy partner! Old Evil Roy will never mess with your town again!
Grande abraço dos espectadores brasileiros!
também sou BR, gostei do coldre dele
Também sou fã do Hickoc 👉💥.
Oi
Ai, como queria morar no exterior (não necessariamente nos EUA)
@@mattgamer0846 Como assim não necessariamente 🤔.
In 1967 I was 16 years old, my dad mail ordered a Colt buntline scout 22 magnum for $69.00. I bought a “hunter” brand belt and holster for $30.00 for the large sum of $100.00 I had a cowboy rig!!
Hi Hickok, wish Colt would make a cheap Colt 45 Peacemaker, maybe a express line like the Remington 870 did. Take Care!
So, we have free access to firing guns and people still don't want to shoot each other... whoa, how that could be happening... ;)
I inherited an East German copy of one of those, and it looks like the Colt was worth the extra $50 at the time.
A colt early in the morning, nice 🤠
Hickok45 The God of weapons
Hickock 45 here, and I are a cowboy!
Imagine you inherit a Colt SAA 50 years from now. You letter it and find that it was shipped 'to Hickok 45 via Bud's Guns.' That would be awesome.
Love from Turkey hickok I love your videos 🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
I have a Colt Frontier Scout that I bought new, and plan to never shoot it because I bought it as a collectors item. Colt made several commemorative versions, and mine is the California Bicentennial Scout. I'm afraid that it's value may have come down because of what CA has become, but since we are recalling the governor it's value may go up.
I agree with you, Rugers are better made.
It's a rough job ,firing promotional fire arms ,fire low cost ammo and to be respected by so many people. Shame on you ! Signed envious jack A. By the way I had a Storm Ruger 357 cal that I kept one cylinder empty as you advise ,great shooter with a fouri inch barrel. All attempts at humor aside, I truly appreciate your knowledge and the manor in whice you convey it thank you Sir. Lee
Had one of those about 30 years ago, even down to the Jay Scott stag grips. Great little .22, and like an idiot, I let it get away from me.
Hello from France ,
Thanks for you videos and congratulations , what a shooter you are ! Cheers
I'm a big fan from iraq
Greetings!
Think you
Hi there!
منور
Good afternoon! Hope you and everyone else is having a great day.
Love the revolver kick, got the Ruger wrangler for my cowboy kick just to plink around or shoot snakes walking around in the MS woods
Love watching him use his brand new wooden handled screwdriver, the one like my Grandfather had, lol!
Beautiful gun
I would pay all my money to see Hickok quickdrawing :D
John does great camera work.
I have something very similar but it came with a .22lr and .22 magnum cylinder.
Hey have you ever done a video on the old Colt stagecoach .22 rifle .I inherited one from my father .It’s rough but I learned to shoot with it and it’s still a tac driver.
I have a 1971 Colt 22lr/22mag that is an actual Peacemaker........and it's YOUR fault. 😂 Love watching your videos
