Alan is spot on about the greasy finger prints on the Velo workshop manual clutch page. Mine looks like I’ve had my prints taken at the local cop shop .. Cheers Ian .

Always satisfying listening to someone who knows their stuff! Especially when it's done in such an unassuming way. Nice work!

Norm Trigg's 'Technicalities' book is THE source of all Velo wisdom! You'll find all the info for matching clutch parts for the different models.

The Velo clutch is a beautiful thing. Light and easy to live with. I just always had trouble tightening the locking nut against the springs, even with the correct tools sometimes it would take hours. You didn't actually show that part. Maybe that was the "mystery"?

I find the Velocette clutch by far the best of classic bike clutches, but like all things that are different there are a lot of people quick to label them as problematical, this clutch is the lightest lever pull of any I have tested, yet it will handle the torque of a 500 Thruxton with no problem, I think the problem is that people heard a bloke in the pub saying his clutch was useless, and that gets repeated over and over, it is the same story with the Vincent clutch, no problem if you work things out for yourself. Hi Chris, thanks for watching. I think you are 100% right . We have had great success with our clutches. The videos were made after a lot of requests and have helped many people. Cam timing video should be out soon
      Thanks Chris

@@thehagonfactory It is really nice to see sensible videos on youtube, a lot of them appear to be made by the types that destroyed your 350 engine, but I suppose there are only people that have a lot of money, but little engineering knowledge that can afford these now. Chris B.

I would dispute that the Velo clutch is the most misunderstood part of classic bikes, imho that accolade would go to the Vincent clutch! Trust me, I have both and the Velo clutch is conventional in comparison!

Hey , can’t say that we have worked on a Vincent clutch. Every bike w it own challenges. Stay tuned, we will be looking at a few Vincent’s in the next few months.

Hey Al, loved the video mate ! Just looking at the distance between the carb and the engine. Is there a reason for that Al ? The other thing that has always puzzled me.. I imagine the float levels on pretty much all carbs are set with the carb horizontal , then they get put on a bike and, more often than not, are on a slant ?? Whys that Al ??

    • @AlanStrahan-cd2kl

Hi, the distance between the carb and the engine is a bit experimental but after a lot of research it is said by tuners of the era that a charge of gas in the manifold is of benefit at high revs I,ll report back after we've tested the machine . Concentric carbs , because of the central bowl will run on an angle because the fuel can't easily run away from the main jet. the angle of the manifold is to take advantage of the down draft effect. regards Al
