Have we found the original owner from 1949 ? While surfing the internet I came across A photo of a Triumph GP 500. The rider in the photo was Dave Powell , Dave was from Hobart Tasmania. Our Triumph was delivered to Hobart in 1949. After finding the photo I found that Dave Powells family has a car dealership in Hobart. So Dad gave them a call and they supplied us with some photos and newspapers...

OIL PUMP REBUILD AND TIMING MODIFIED CAMS
GP is looking great. Much faster than im getting on with mine. Are they the original exhause stubs or did ye get them new from somewhere?
Hi John , standard exhaust stubs . What are you working on? Thanks for watching
@thehagonfactory hiya, also on a genuine triumph gp. Where you get the stubs?
Great bike. Well worth building it to be used, bugger the nit pickers!
Thanks for watching
Thanks very much guys! for the kind words and the opportunity to do the pinstriping it for you
Thanks for the great job Glen
Another great production Chris. It's getting so close but as you know Alan is right about the last 10% of the job. It's looking incredible and can't wait for the fire up. Armours in the UK.........I've never had an issue with their BSA Bantam stuff and recommend them to customers. We're actually lucky to still have a company that does quality work like this at a realistic price.........that includes their postage. I haven't read the comments criticising you and Alan............You should know by now, that anyone with a dick who rides is a f!@#$ing expert on everything motorcycle. I have to deal with it a lot.......everyone has a "mate in the know" who is the undisputed expert. The detective work you and your Dad have done to prove the provenance of this bike is outstanding and the pictures and documents you show all add to this great story. Keep up the great work..................P.S. can you send me another ïntro" you did to the work email please. I couldn't download it last time.............regards Bones
What a magnificent looking machine. I can’t wait to see it in real life. An absolute credit to you both👍
looking good Alan
Resurrecting part of history. Great work Alan.

Whew. Thanks for the reminder. I thought it was on yesterday and I missed it. Good man, keep up the videos.
No problem at all, thanks for watching
I liked what I saw , great success .
Thanks for watching
next year maybe the GT Triumph?. With a chair of cause.
It did pull a chair, thanks for watching Geoff
Great video, sorry I missed it again.
Swap meets are facing an extinction level crisis. In the last 10 years more have been canned than created.
There’s more trash than treasure these days
Going through my parts the other day and found an engine/gearbox plate for a featherbed conversion unsure of what. It’s stamped A.Hagon is this the same Hagon factory?
Hi , very interesting . Would like to see a picture. Thanks for watching. castrahan@hotmail.com
@@thehagonfactory email sent mate
Its over.
Hi , Bendigo swap meeting will continue. A video with updates will be available soon
Outstanding work!!!
It's progressing nicely..........
It's good to see that you are keeping as many original parts as you can.
It’s coming along very nicely Chris 👍
Hmmm... the rocker arm is floating all over the place because you have left out a crucial component - the rocker fulcrum spring (65-1117) sits between the washer and the rocker arm, and ensures correct arm contact with valve head. You need to get a parts book to make sure you assemble correctly. Also the rocker spindle seems rather slack...I would expect to have the heat the head up before fitting. Maybe you cleaned it up a bit too much in the lathe...
looks good.
Steve 👏👏👏👏👌 Cheers Chris
yum yum love it gary
When I was an eager 17 y/o on my cb350, Jeff Framcomb kindly trued up my wheels for me , before I could comprehend such an operation. He asked nothing for it, legend
Have a good Christmas and new year. 👍🇬🇧
Always look forward to your videos Chris, they are very informative about the old bikes and history around them just like this one of Pastry Dave, Alan enjoys himself telling the story around them. All the best Chris & Alan and your family have a great Xmas and hope 2025 is a good year for you all. “Stay safe on the roads”.
Very enjoyable look into the old girl’s past . 👍🏁
Great job, Chris and Allan. Another great year from the hagon factory. Merry Xmas from the Owen clan.
What a great story........The provenance of these bikes is sometimes more interesting than the bike itself. You guys have done a great job with these productions and deserve all the subscribers you have. You and Alan have a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. I look forward to next year's instalments.
Coming along nicely!
It’s looking good
Another great production Chris and a great story as well. The bike is coming along a treat and looks fantastic. Thanks for the update and Merry Xmas.
Merry Christmas Tony , thanks for watching
Give us a yell if you or the old boy come down to Tassie!
Will do , thanks for watching
Good point on the rear brake torque arm, i think mines bolted up solid not allowing for float !. Do those sprung hubs travel in a small arc or just up and down?, putting the chain under tension at extreme travel?. Good bloke Alan, having a m/c in your front room is a sign of commitment, good on ya' mate, enjoy.
Last year I read a ton of Velocette books. They were sending race bikes to Australia and New Zealand to get them out of their hair. They figured the locals would have to learn how to work on them which was better than people bringing them back to the factory (which was taking up valuable time). Did Triumph do the same?
Progress is looking good.
Great video Chris & Al . 👍🏁
crosplane or inline ?
Great video. Great background music.
I'm wearing that purple long sleeve you see.
Caught up with Alan on Saturday and checked out the latest status. As always everything is top level.
Hi guys , you talked about the mount for the arm on the rear brake plate . I guess it is the same as the T100 fitted with that type of frame , and it mounts on bracket that swivels on the back of the brake pedal spindle . I have a spare one . Do you guys have an email address so we can talk ?
Hi Terry , thanks for the offer , Alan went and had a look at one of and he ended up making one. Thanks for watching
Would you post a list of the upgrades used on the motor ,those con rods look new. but it looks like you still need a remote float chamber for the carbs ,matchbox type would fit nicely . love the square finning design .
Hi David , I will get a list together asap . We have the original float bowl . It has just been filled. I will get a photo in the next update. Thanks for watching
Thats a generator motor out of an aircraft.
Davo from England again. PPS. If you have a timing cover with sufficient metal around the crankshaft oil feed bush it is a good mod to bore out the bush and substitute an oil seal and circlip from a unit 650. Much better oil pressure so less likely to go bang. Regards Davo.
Funny you say that Davo, that is on our list and will happen on both of our Triumph builds
Hi, Davo from Gloucester England. Re megaphones. Armours in Uk do a good repro. Re Smiths Rev counter drive. (Same as race kit) Took me about 10 years to find mine. Not seen another since. Your best bet would be to make one using the gear and shortened shaft from the lucas dynamo and use an angle drive from a unit Bonnie or similar. The original is a very tight fit between the engine plate and the timing case. With the dynamo engine plate you have a bit more room. If you need an oil filter (Vokes) I know of a spare.( I would not bother as the brass filter element is the size of a cotton reel and clogs with crap after about 10 miles) Don't forget to sleeve the inlet manifold with a thin wall tube or you will get air leaks next to the allen screw cut outs. Best regards Davo (Occasional visitor to Moore Park Beach, Nr Bundaberg. PS Its snowing here !!!!!!!.)
Hey Davo, we will definitely check them out , thanks for your help and thanks for watching. We are about 1800km away from Bunderberg. It’s a fair hike from Bendigo Victoria
Change music it killed me trying to watch this
