Just got into 3D printing and found your videos couple weeks ago. I have been doing vfx and modeling for a very long time but never 3D printing. I have to say, I really like your vlogs. Very informational and genuine. I also like that you don’t hide your setup or workflow. It really helps people like me understand the process of running a farm. I started watching your videos and thinking that I could do what you do. A mere 1.5 years of 3d printing, and 4 other printer. (Ender 3 pro, Makerbot replicator gen 5, Elegoo Neptune 4 pro, and another one I can’t think of) I have finally bought myself a Bambu Lab P1S. I might only be 13, but I’m no moron anymore.
Woah you’re only 13!? Heck yeah! That’s incredible. You can for sure do it. Just keep slowly growing like you’re doing now. 3D printing is just going to keep getting bigger and bigger.

Ive been watching your videos for a while now, and I just want to say I love it how you show and verbalise your struggles throughout the process, it makes you and your videos relatable. which a lot of the other RUclipsrs in this space don't have so my hats off to you.
First off, thanks a ton for the videos, very down to earth and informative. Now, only question I have is after having to swap out the extruders, is there a reason you haven’t upgraded to the X1 hardened gears (or extruder altogether)? We just got our first P1S last weeks and #2 will be here tomorrow. I opted right away to order the X1 nozzle and extruder (you need to get the fan and heater/thermostat set from the P1 or swap your existing to them) and set them up so I have the stock P1 extruder/hot end as backups. Interested in your thoughts on this. Keep the videos going, they’re awesome so far

It's nice to show others what different issues you can run into during the day. I used to run 6 Prusa printers prior to Covid, primarily printing prototype parts using CF PETG, but now I'm down to just one. I've been on the fence about getting a P1P It's good to see some longevity usage issues you have run into. For any PLA I used was Jessie's PLA from Printed Solid. Made in the USA . When you get a chance maybe check them out. Looking forward to see more of your videos.
I’ve been using the Jessie petg and it prints well. I had to tweak some settings but now it’s… solid :) doesn’t fit in the AMS but that’s ok for what I’m using it for.

Love watching your videos as I too run a RUclips channel and Etsy store. Just curious as I typically ship abs parts. When you ship out pla parts this time of year like your name plates do you ever have anyone say their parts are warped when they receive them. I have a part I’m wanting to add to my Etsy store that pla will work fine for I’m just worried about it becoming disfigured while sitting in a hot mailbox. Thanks.
When hanging brackets (or anything) like those, I usually make my marks, start one screw w/o the bracket so it's easier to screw it in w/ one hand while holding the bracket, then after that one is started, it will hold one end for you so you can get the level on it, mark the hole, start the screw again w/o the bracket, then put it in place and tighten it all down. I thought the top shelf was going to be smaller due to the smaller bracket....why were the shelves the same but the brackets different?! As far as your extruders, when you replenish your inventory, I'd try the one w/ hardened gears. Should last a lot longer.
Thanks for the tips! I'm new to anything drill related so I welcome all the help I can get. I'm not sure why the brackets were different, kinda threw me off during the install. And for the extruders, I've already changed 2 printers over to the hardened gears since filming this video, and I'll probably do the same for the rest once they go bad. I've started printing with CFs and more abrasive materials so I'll have to anyway. Glad to see you back in the comments :)
@@macymakes3d I believe for abrasives you will want the hardened nozzles too. I have yet to venture past PLA. I did get a 2nd P1S combo during the sale....I am trying to develop products to sell, though I have not really sold anything yet, besides some things to ppl I know. Question about the extruder: how many hours are you getting before you have issues? I have an X1C and have about 2000hrs but have never had an issue. I print lots of materials and quite a bit of abrasives with CF but have only ever changed nozzles. I took the extruder apart to clean and inspect a few months back and other particulate contamination mine was in great shape. But it’s the X1C so wondering if it’s holding up better as it’s definitely hardened gears etc. Does the P1 use the same extruder that’s hardened or is there a non hardened version? - if so could be worth changing to the hardened one from x1C.
P1s definitely don't have the hardened gears but I think I'm going to start upgrading them all to the hardened ones instead of changing out the entire extruder as things wear out in the future.
8:52 next time try this as it will save tape and hassle. - get shelf about where you want, mark and drill one hole, put shelf mount up and put screw in the first hole loosely, level the mount plate with your spirit level (check if plate matches shelf otherwise put level on the spigot things) and mark other end hole. Let plate drop down and drill next hole. Lift up mount plate and tighten 2nd screw. Mark and drill any other screws, place plate Tighten all screws tight and your done. Then do the shelf part. Other tip if you have no studs and only using dry wall anchors, ensure dry wall anchors carry more than weight than you want to store to save them pulling out and shelf sagging down.
Upgrade to hardened steel extruder gears or buy the fysetc hardened gears. 1/4 the cost and it's a refurbished extruder then. Keep up the great videos. Always love seeing new videos as they are interesting. Would like to see more about the bar bells also.

Thanks Macy again. I was thinking about 5-10 printers as i have about 60m2 in my spare space with good electrical connections and possible to have good ventilation. Hope got this running soon starting with only one Bambu . Any advices to start the work here in the North of Europe Why did you not use your artistic feel and make your own printed shelves

@RBallarddesigns im also 3D printing and i Think its worth to chance becourse the hardened ones last longer and you Can print more abrasive materials like glow in the dark and carbon-fiber.
The extruder gears were made yellow for this very reason, hints the window on the side of the printer head enclosure that shows the yellow gear, with out taking anything apart. Once you start seeing any debris on that yellow gear, it’s recommended your open the extruder gears up and give everything a quick clean. I run 8 of these printers 24/7 and wish someone would of told this sooner!! Hope all is well

Trust me to walk out of the room to get a drink just at the wrong time then ask what I missed. LOL Thinking about selling prints and curious how profitable it may be. Custom name plates for teachers’ desks is genius.
CAD just takes a lot of time to learn FreeCAD in the 0.22 version is improving week by week. Also there's no handholding in FreeCAD, if you can make a model there you can use any other program, doesn't work the other way around
Silly question. Why are you replacing the extruder? The gears look dirty - you can clean them. If they're worn then you can replace just the gears. In fact replacing them with the hardened steel gears would probably diminish the wear on them. I'm just wondering and thinking you might be able to save yourself some money - or maybe there's something you're seeing that I'm missing. Thanks for the Videos - you're doing a great job.
I read in a few forums that the hardened gears slip more than the normal ones but I haven’t tested it myself. I’ve started replacing just the gears since I filmed this though so I’ll be able to give my thoughts in a later video.
Something i like to do with my 3d printers is i write down the problem that i have and then the solution to the problem. So if ever in not sure what's causing the problem then i can look at my cheat sheet. This would have saved me 4 week of waiting for parts and frustration.^_^

This was just cheap and easy. Maybe I can make them look more artsy as I go along!
In response to it can't be hard, I share with you the Programmers credo: "We do this not because it is easy, but because we thought it would be easy."
Do you use the standard hotend or the hardened one? Travis at Shop Nation uses the hardened ones and says they are a great upgrade in his print farm.
Ive started changing them over to the hardened as they need changing. I think I have 2 right now with hardened nozzles.

Are you using the hardened steel extruders? Seems like those should last longer than a year. Or maybe it's not the nozzle itself that's wearing? Hmmm.

My husband is an accountant so he works during the day but I stay home full time with my son.

I use tinkercad and I’ve used freeCad some. I’m not the best at 3d modeling. Hoping to learn more eventually.

Can't you do some post processing on that pink piece instead of doing a whole new print? Sure fix the extruder but some filler/paint can work
That would stick out like a sore thumb. Better to just reprint it and get a uniform looking product.

I just hung the exact same IKEA shelves. At least those look like the IKEA shelves I bought.
