The way matty describes the combat in this game actually makes me want it. I'm sick of games that go easy on you, I want to be overwhelmed with enemy's and play a game where upgrades are actually useful and not optional. I have gamepass so i'll definitely give it a try.
From what I got from the review, combat is not hard because of the clever enemy design or AI. It is hard because you have to fight controls and game just swarms you with numbers. I do like when game is design to be hard, like Dark Souls of Devil May Cry, but I don't think this is the case here.

I personally had no major bugs or glitches on the Series X. There was a few moments in the beginning (mostly when I got to the world itself) where the frame rate dipped from smooth to studdery. Other than that I've had a really good time. It isn't a perfect game of course, but its way better than some other AAA games from the last 2 years. I would call it an awesome first game with definite room for improvement. I do agree I think it should cost less but 100% worth a download if you have the Gamepass like I do :)
It had some weird frame pacing issue where the whole game would speed up then slow down again. It's not entirely fixed but it is way better than launch now. I actually think it was more a CPU frame step issue as i've seen this happen on old PC Games trying to run on newer CPU"s but not on a game that has only just been released on Unreal Engine 4.
2:28 did Matty just say “what if the Soviets won World War II?” They did win World War II. The Allies won World War II. They were one of the Allies: US, UK, Soviet Union (also France, Australia, Canada, and others) versus the Axis: Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Imperial Japan. I’m confused lol
1000% disagree with everything in this video. It's mind blowing how unsatisfied gamers are nowadays I don't think people even know what they want. This is the only game in a long time to show stuff in multiple trailers and then actually put that stuff in the game. 9 out of 10.
@@MrMattyPlays I plan to, but I'll be flying out to the LSM event in a few days. Not a lot of gaming time until I get back. Hopefully by then there will be some improvements. It's not leaving Gamepass next week so I can wait a week.
I’m hearing the overall game is great. I’ve been hearing people struggle to say what it is they don’t like about the game. Lately, too many games get skull drug by reviewers, only to be loved by gamers later. I’ll have to check this one out for myself.
Pretty much everyone says the combat is annoying due to too many enemies and not enough room to breathe. If the gameplay aspect isn't fun because it's suffocating in a cheaty-feeling way, that's a big problem.
I just got around to playing Atomic Heart...and the negative reviews like this one are just crazy to me. Atomic Heart is awesome. Perfect creepy atmosphere, good combat, good graphics decent story. Yes, some of the dialogue is bad and it's a little janky in certain parts, but it's mind-boggling to me that this game got the hate it did from some people. Weird.
I feel bad for Matty I’ve been watching him for years. When he branched off from fallout content to doing his own thing I was happy and excited for what was to come but the dude just sucks at video games that aren’t fallout or skyrim. Reminds me of yongyea when all he would do is talk about metal gear and play metal gear games then became a drama channel. It just doesn’t feel genuine anymore.
We need to try the games for ourselves even if it sounds a bit too expensive to do that.... Cuz i enjoyed a lotta games that were actually not recommended and straight up deleted some of the game that were highly praised and were slapped with a must buy badge... Our tastes differ so if you like the plot and the world and the lore that is being set up i would say just dive into it and try it out for yourself
It comes to personal tastes. Most of these reviews are highly superficial, not deeper than first impressions because they need to complete the game ASAP. But, it's a way of showing what are you actually buying. It always comes to the consumer to buy it or not. And now, specially in this day and age were the confidence in studios has gone so low.

The puzzles are just incredibly boring in the game overall just feels very Bland and meh. You only get about seven guns the entire game comma and there's no engaging systems like for example it would have been cool if breaking certain parts of robots gave you better loot to incentivize head shots and better shooting
I love bioshock too so I'll prob pick this game up when it goes on sale and hopefully some of the bugs and glitched have been taken cared of by then. 😆
@@ArielCleirigh callisto is not a game at all unlike atomic heart. It's barely a walking simulator where you occasionally smash some boring designed zombies with almost zero variety of moveset, while also having to endure such a convoluted and badly written story that dead space 3 was a masterpiece in comparison.
PREY 2017 is one of my favorite games of all time. Can anyone tell me if this is kinda similar? I knew nothing about this one until the last couple days.
This game has so much of what you say games are missing nowadays. The game is very creative and shows the passion the developers have. I couldn’t put it down, it interrupted my Hogwarts Legacy playthrough and I was thrilled. Please try this game for yourself
The only thing that turns me off about the game is that it's open world this game looks like it would have benefited from being semi open-world or linear just because the game has such uncanny horror esq dystopian visuals a linear game could set up amazing set pieces that would be unforgettable for such an art style
I did, and I didn't like Atomic Heart at all. I only got a first impression, so I can't say whether it gets better or not later on. However, the writing is insufferable, melee combat is Dead Island levels of clunky, and there's no sprint button, which is bad because a game like Atomic Heart could've used one badly imo.
So far I've been pretty satisfied with what the game has to offer. The atmosphere and graphics are immaculate, the soundtrack is great, some of the dialogue and scenes are actually funny, the game is very stable (played it on the Series X, there are only slight frame drops during some cutscenes)... The writing doesn't bother me, because I could see it from the trailers that it wouldn't be anything spectacular, if anything I was more impressed with the English voice actors because they sounded way worse in the trailers. The gameplay is fine, though I do agree that using a melee weapon when there are a lot of enemies is a death sentence (though it's pretty much mandatory in the first hours of the game) and I've gotten stuck on geometry more than once after dodging and subsequently surrounded by robots, leaving me no room to dodge their attacks
I’m sorry but I have to make one correction. Soviet Russia DID win WW2. That part isn’t alternate history. The USSR was allied with the US and UK and without the USSR we would’ve COMPLETELY lost Europe. The alternate timeline part of this game is that the USSR became the predominant global superpower after WW2 instead of the US. Sorry, as a history nerd and someone of Belarusian descent that had family fight the Nazis for the USSR in WW2 it just irks me when fellow Americans downplay the Soviet role in the war and act like the US did it all by itself.
I'm big on exploration in games and usually don't pay real close attention to story unless it's a linear game. At the end of the day I like to kick back and get lost in a world. So I think this game will suit me just fine.
A lot of fans in the comments are getting butthurt that they're opinions aren't validated by somebody else. The game has obvious problems with its combat and an insufferable protagonist that won't shut up. For a first person game that serves to immerse as a genre, it's a glaring problem. Deal with it. You can choose to praise it blindly like some cult follower, but demanding others to parrot your arbitrary opinions is lunacy.
People have this game all wrong. It’s amazing has a couple bugs. Even with the bugs the game is 9/10. It’s so much people don’t understand about this game. The ai doesn’t need to be blanced out. Ever enemy has a diffent weakpoint. Play this game first and try to understand it and it’s an amazing experience. To be honest it seems like a lot of people are not good at this game so they don’t like it. It’s kinda like a rpg and if your build sucks. The game might be too hard for u.
I’m loving this game. Don’t know why you find the combat bad, it’s quite great, a lot of weapons, powers, variety of enemies and great physics and how you can mutilate and the damage details is just amazing, weapons feel heavy and are very satisfying to shoot. Also, I feel like the game’s writing and comedy is a lot better if you know Russian, some jokes just doesn’t make sense if you translate them. Overall this game is a 9/10 for me so far after 10-15 hours in. I also don’t get why you and others reviewers hated the “open world”. It’s not really and open world, just an outdoor open space of this facility, it’s great to change the pace a little bit and add some variety to the game. I’m also sorry to hear that you had bugs and glitches, I didn’t have any apart from some tv’s in game not showing any images.
Tbh I have a feeling Nexus mods will play a huge role in Atomic Heart's future... Which I'm actually ok with. But since this is Mund fish's (people making Atomic Heart) first big game I'm not surprised it's not up there, hopefully this will be a lession for them in the future.

So Matty does not give it a buy. Neither does Skillup as he does not recommend it. But then IGN gives it an 8. ACG says it is a buy. Even Worth a Buy says it is a buy and gives it an 8. So what is the right and wrong answer here? People's opinion's on this game are all over the place which kind of makes it tough on the consumer to know if they wanna buy it or not.
Yep it sucks and I understand you don't want to waste money. The problem with reviews is everything is spun as fact when it's all rather subjective aside from technical performance issues. It's never good to rely on one reviewer when making an informed purchase. Skillup is a good reviewer but I don't always agree with him same goes for ACG. Watch multiple reviews listen to the pros and cons and try to decide for yourself if its a game you want to play.

It has an AAA price-tag, so of course people have certain expectations. For many the game definitely isn't worth that price, even if they're having fun with it, and games like that tend to be criticised more harshly.
I don't think it's very good at all, The main protagonist is unbearable to listen to, on the same level as forspoken for me. The combat doesn't feel good at all especially the melee combat. The only cool thing about this game is the world itself, super interesting story concept, but the combat, characters, exploration, levels leave so much to be desired.
I played it on PC Game Pass. The inventory is really frustrating. If you don't have enough space, the consumables you create are going to NORA storage and you have to move it to the inv on you own. Could you compare this game to Forspoken?
It infuriates me hearing game reviewers support Game Pass. It’s already bad enough how we lost physical media and now solely rely on digital storefronts that could shut down at anytime and who knows what would happen to your purchases but now people are going to support literally not owning the game in any sense?
I only use gamepass and occasionally digital buys if there is a game I want that isn’t there. I don’t mind it cause I I’m not buying the games on games pass just playing them for a few weeks until I move to something else new. As for digital I’ve been buying games for over a decade on digital and have had no problems. They have to keep it available to me if I bought it and so far they have. I
You never owned a game in the first place. Even physical discs are portable licenses for software that can technically be revoked by its owners. Gamepass is hands down the best deal in gaming.
I agree. Got it on gamepass. I'm glad I did gamepass. I don't hate it, I don't love it. For me it has passion, It aimed for the stars but sadly landed on the moon. Loved the bioshock refference at the end along with the Nier automata one as well, but overall for me.... it's an 8/10 if i ignore some minor things from it
I'm playing it right now (4h in the game), and it's AMAZING. I wish all games were at meats half as creative as this game. one of the best games of the year.
This game all over the place looks so much like a mixed bag in reviews BUT IMO: This game, as a first time game by a new studio I feel that they achieved what they wanted to do. Even not many AAA games can say the same. I am just glad to see single player games getting some love when Live service games are still be crammed in every single game. Can't wait to try it my self tonight on PC game pass. Then later this month is Midnight Suns so alot of single player good ness .
If this is their first entry they're on a really solid path. The art style alone is keeping me in the game. I'm probably going to damage mod the game so I can experience it with increased pacing..
It’s their first fuckin game smh if they hit it right on the nail and got everything perfect that would of been great but in the real world shit like this takes trial and error . I have faith they’re gonna learn a lot from this
That protagonist has to be one of the worst in a while. Hated every time he said crispy critters. I'll say I enjoy if more once I changed the difficulty to easy. It was too tedious and occasionally broke when on medium difficulty. Like you said it would just send too many too many enemies in a way that made no sense. It would send too many robots sometimes and would literally chug. Changing it to easy made things better.
Exactly. I wait for the games full DLC cycles to happen and then scoop up the final editions (for single player games at least) Read Dead 2 was the last game I bought at full price
What I like about you, Matty, is that you give your honest view. I'm seeing lots of positive takes on this game and I'm definitely gonna play it, but I won't go in with wild expectations.
Game is fabulous. Art direction alone makes this at least an 8 /10 for me. At least it’s not a boring ass movie like GOW Ragnarok, the most overrated game ever made.
I think GOW: Rag is a great game overall production value and story. Was it fun? No. Couldn’t wait for it to end. So that right there loses it’s fun factor. This game is actually fun and I appreciate it

The way matty describes the combat in this game actually makes me want it. I'm sick of games that go easy on you, I want to be overwhelmed with enemy's and play a game where upgrades are actually useful and not optional.

Same. Love Gamepass.
Not a single issue on Series X
It had some weird frame pacing issue where the whole game would speed up then slow down again. It's not entirely fixed but it is way better than launch now. I actually think it was more a CPU frame step issue as i've seen this happen on old PC Games trying to run on newer CPU"s but not on a game that has only just been released on Unreal Engine 4.
same here , although I'm playing in August.

Overall this game is a 9/10 for me so far after 10-15 hours in.
I also don’t get why you and others reviewers hated the “open world”. It’s not really and open world, just an outdoor open space of this facility, it’s great to change the pace a little bit and add some variety to the game.

This game is actually fun and I appreciate it
@@DeanT1987 yep. God of War basically turned into a walking simulator.
ACG has never steered me wrong.

Same here. Think a lot of these others are scared of backlash.
@@Boomcheeks Absolutely.
I need to try myself then because i have a mixed bag of my 2 trusted reviewers cuz ACG really enjoying it but also matty was dissapointed
78 meta is good enough for me, i loved scorn and high on life who were panned by critics
@@BirthToBurial10 there are a load of them.
It only has 16 reviews up right now. I guarantee that will drop since I've seen a lot of low scores that haven't been posted on there yet.
@sirdan357 that means nothing. High on life got negative reviews but it was a good game.
High on Life is underrated
@@ghostlegit It's an okay game at best.
What song is that in the background it’s on the tip of my tongue
Idk how you left “completely disappointed” maybe a little let down in some areas but to say you’re completely letdown seems like an exaggeration. The thing about all the enemies spawning along with the bugs seems annoying tho
I think if im expecting a wolfenstein like experience I won’t be disappointed much. I think I’ll like it enough to play through it at least once
Yeah it's more like Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein games always feel better than BioShock
It’s nothing like that. You’ll see
