Fanatic that nearly every reviewer thinks that Mike Gordon made the OST and ignores that most of the tracks arnt done by him, showing of "mike´s OST" with tracks done by Geoffplaysguitar. Quite reveling how well the marketing worked and how little reviewer seem to care, researching the Credits of tracks

I mean you can't really blame them. I thought the same during gameplay. But when I looked up the songs(because all of them are bangers, been listening them since I played the game) I noticed that like none of them actually lists Mick as the composer, but Geoffrey. And man, that guy is a musical genius. I liked all the tracks he worked on in Atomic Heart.

Adding to the banter part. I don't wanna be cruel, but whoever overseen the game was in my eyes terrified we would get bored without dialog and would miss enviromental storytelling deets, if they would to swap some dialog with it. There's almost not a moment, for You to soak in the atmosphere which with all that yapping seems stuffy.

While the music is good, it is sadly a bit out of place. Sure it completely changes the tone and hits from nowhere with boss fights or fights inside facilities in certain point of the story on its own nicely done. But I might argue that sometimes it feels out of place or what is even worse starts playing when it should not. Example a part which music starts enemies are attacking fits the fight, fight is over music either cuts or fades way I moved a few steps music start with full impact I look around there is no reason for it to be playing move a few more steps a single enemy which I deal with in quickly music is still playing which confuses the player as it should indicate more enemies but there is not a minute later it cuts.
So on this technical level they could have done a bit better job. As for the full game I liked it thought it was good with ok story more or less till the end I did not like the ending(s) which overall reduced the final score for the the as a whole.

I played a little bit of this the other day. Going to try more today.
It seems to me that the developers probably would have liked to go more in the immersive sim direction but probably couldn't quite get there. It's not easy to accommodate that kind of openness and player choice.
This game already had a pretty long, tortured development cycle. Many people thought it would just be vaporware, would never come out. I imagine downgrading and simplifying some of the immersive sim style features was necessary, something similar to what ended up happening to Bioshock Infinite. It downgraded to an Fps to finally get out of development hell.

The things like voice tone, intonation can change how we perceive the character and while he still might be unpleasant person it might be less annoying.

We Russians talk in a relaxed manner, and our voice actors tend to "act" instead of just talking naturally in videogames. So that's why it comes as over the top for us. Because it kinda is. I mean it's not over the top exactly, but it's on its way. But it's also probably for censoring reasons, since guys like the protagonist would swear a lot normally, not to mention in their situation. And man, Russian curses are expansive and creative, probably more so that the Russian language proper. So they probably were scraping the barrel for something to replace that style of speech with, while still making the protagonist tough and believable

finished it. it's like bioshock but with robots and in a sci-fi version of the ussr. very good.
they've put a lot of work in making the shooting and gunplay feel great, it's very smooth and satisfying. the puzzles are challenging but not too difficult, and they've fixed most of the bugs that were present on release date. i loved the talking dead people. i found it hilarious and in a few cases they were well incorporated in the game.
I wish they'd spent more time on the story however. it's not particularly engaging. we know that the agent p3 and sechenov were supposed to be very close as sechenov saved his life, but the game mostly fumbled this. there were also scenes in the underground where the ussr had been doing experiments on people, and P3 is disgusted by it, but then he just quickly got out. I was expecting something more story wise, but nothing kinda happened, the visuals were there, but the story was missing. The open world also feels hard to explore. like you can't put a marker and follow a path to go from a to b. most of the rooms are also static, there's not a lot of things you can throw around or destory, which is weird because one of the powers you get lets you throw stuff at enemies, but there's nothing to throw.

Only a little ways in and I can’t wait to have the time to dive back in and see what’s going to happen next. Anyone who is playing take your time with the game and take in all the environmental storytelling. Really hoping for a new game plus option soon.

Probably put in about 6 hours and the game is pretty and fun. I will say that I wish the protag and the "glove" would talk less. It's reminding me too much of Forspoken with how the protag constantly shits on the "glove". The slow strafing annoys me from time to time also.

I’m really enjoying the game as well, I switched to the Russian audio dialogue because the line delivery from the protagonist’s actor was borderline intolerable for me. Like… why did they direct him to deliver every line like he was a 14 year old jock who just punched a hole in his parent’s drywall. I do the find the “crispy critters” phrase to be unintentionally hilarious though.

Good to know that it runs well on a Gtx 1070.

I couldn't tolerate all the banter. It's endless. I ended up muting the dialogue because I just couldn't tolerate it. Especially because it's never funny or entertaining. The upgrade robot is so embarrassing that I physically cringed when I first heard it. Combat and movement felt incredibly sluggish and clunky. All the best parts of the game feel derivative.
Yeah, I dunno about this one. I feel like calling it a Russian Bioshock is disingenuous. The two games are nowhere near, in any stretch of the imagination, on the same levels of quality.
It's a pretty decent Gamepass title though.

What bothers me is constant comparesson on Bioshock. I didn't like that game at all, in fact I consider it exceptionally bad. However, many said Dead Space, Half Life 2 and Wolfenstein: New Order and to some extend Dishonored are similar to System Shock which from what I understand Bioshock is something of a soft reboot of System Shock and I consider the games I listed as one of the best. So I am really puzzled what to think of it. Also fuck Denuvo, fucking malware is literally an argument for piracy.

"Glorifying soviet union" - game is on development for how long by now, setting wasn't a problem before. Setting is as well over the top af, you may as well say Machine Games glorify third Reich in Wolfenstein remakes.
"Peace blah blah" - company is still based in Russia. Russia has rigorous anti-war laws with actual jail time. That they are very careful about what they say is humanely understandable.
"B..but muh privacy" - there is no actual confirmation on it on software level. In the meantime check up how much information US or Chinese (basically most Us game Devs by now lol) companies collect from you. Don't say its right, but it's normal state of game dev.

What bothers me more is other games that are Russian are now instantly bad. Partisans 1941 now biggest flaw is that it is Russian. Men of War as well suddendly is bad (didn't like that one anyway). At least flight community are not bitching about Il-2 Sturmovik game.
What's worse is there is small but dedictated community of Sea Dogs game series. While developers on paper are from Russia, team is split between Russians and Ukranians and is currently on hold because of war. So according to Twitter logic who should we blame or cancel? Personally I don't know, but I do know the ultimate losers are developers themselves and us gamers on that front.
