- Time to appreciate some bad art, as Luke, Ellen and Producer Jon paint some model Pokemon. How will they turn out? Well, bad, we already said.

Do you think John feels like he’s taking care of two children?
“Are you saying I can eat this, John?”
“No, I-“
Absolutely precious.
I'd say this video's par for the course on the babysitting front.
2:25 for reference. That startled "wait, what?" look from Jon is priceless XD
A while back someone mentioned Ellen and Luke are basically OxBox's adorable little children; it seems there's more than a little truth in that.
JUST NORMAL PEOPLE DOING NORMAL ADULT THINGS!!
I like that Producer Jon is taking a more of a personality role lately yet his name shall forever be “Producer Jon”.
John is his surname, just like Peter Spiderman
Its Jon Garnham I think.
True, but it is spelled without h. It's just Jon 😊
Not "just" Jon. Producer Jon, always. 😄
@@gothmissstress Corrected! :D
John in dad mode: "I think you've both done very well"
Between him offering to mail Ellen his poster and keeping Luke from swallowing a children's toy, Jon's dad energy in this is off the charts :'D
Big Dad Energy
Reading this before watching the video proper it sounds wild.
He is probably use to babysitting these two.
Don't forget the part where he actually had the dexterity and hand-eye coordination to produce something competent when the two kids--I mean, very grown-up adults--produced Slenderchu and Charjoker.
@@Safiyahalishah Love the names
Less than 3 minutes in and “normal adults” luke and ellen are threatening to eat the models... fantastic lol
That's what happens if Andy isn't there to keep them in check.
@@SpoonOfDoom Producer Jon's Dad energy to the rescue!
"Go a bit mad on the undercarriage" - I'm guessing that one won't make it onto a t-shirt.
Unless OutsideXXXtra becomes a thing 👀😂
I think we can all agree that "Go a bit mad on the undercarriage" is the subtext of "F around and find out"
@@frogpop8698 Well... you're free to interpret it that way, but 'all' might be a stretch.
"I've finished and ruined [Togepi's] bum"
-Producer John, 2021
I’m just imagining John coming home with the magazine.
“Honey that’s really good of you getting something for the kids as they are doing so well with their homeschooling”
“.....”
“It’s for the bloody Oxstra again, isn’t it?”
“.... ....”
Multiple copies? :) One for Jon, one for each of the kids.
Sounds like how I'd shop for things like that if I had kids.
These shows are giving me old Show of the Weekend energy and that makes me so very happy! I missed my 'Sunday Morning Cartoons' with Oxtra. Also that beret is fire Ellen.
Andy walks in: what are you doing
Luke: normal things
I miss Show of the Weekend too!
We all miss our Saturday morning cartoons.
I recently went back and watched some old SotW just to remind me of happier times. Also Ellen's voice is so soothing to me.
Im slightly suprised this wasnt another paint a pikachu contest judged by pikachu expert andy, but this is fun all the same
I don't think Andy's nerves could take it.
Oh there is a Christmas challenge if I ever heard one. They have 2 Pikachu models left too!
Staying true to tradition, he would have ruled Luke's Charmander as the better Pikachu 🤔
@@Twilight0402 "I believe this Charmander captures the spirit of the Pikachu." *rambling on for another 5 minutes with art lingo*
After the latest Pikachu contest last Christmas, I have to ask: Where are the stripes on his back Ellen?
And this is why Andy would have voted for Charmander as the best Pikachu
You should save the ones you didn't paint and then go on a Dicepainter stream with them, just to see the looks of horror on Johnny and Wheels' faces.
"Are you saying this is edible, Jon?"
"Are you saying I can eat this, Jon?"
"Now, hang on-"
Producer Jon and the two children.
Excellent work. I particularly like how the red mouths make them look like they've murdered and eaten a fellow Pokemon to absorb it's powers. 10/10 horror.
"Feed me Seymour!"
Where is the new zealand based mauri culture pokemon game?
Things I didn't know I needed in my life: Ellen and Luke singing as Jigglypuff.
They should start doing covers
There are more of that in the Shows of the weekend, you should check them out.
I had a mouthful of tea when they started doing Total Eclipse of the Heart. Closest I've ever come to either doing a spittake or drowning.
I used them singing the Jigglepuff song on Show of the Weekend as a ringtone for a bit. Got a lot of funny looks when my phone rang in a meeting once.
I believe in their first year one of their best bits was singing Jigglypuff. Also sidenote: Ellen singing Total Eclipse of the heart as Pikachu that one time was very cool.
I absolutely love how well the channel has adapted to the current circumstances.
I was just thinking the same thing. They've made the best out of a difficult time and kept us great company while doing it. I think that deserves some massive applause for all them.
I wonder how much of my remaining sanity is due to them + Eurogamer.
I know the answer for me is almost all of what remains is courtesy of them.
I just love the slightly chaotic, at home vibe these videos have.
I hope that even when things open up and they go back to doing things in person that they keep videos with this kind of chaotic energy
Jon is really trying not to put both of them in time out.
I love that Jon is basically the cool Uncle to chaotic Niece and Nephew, Luke and Ellen.😂💜
Producer jon RADIATES pure dad energy and I love it
"Charmander, Charmander Char" translates to "Do you wanna know how I got these scars?" 15:04
We need a robot chicken Charmander Joker skit now
Why so serious? - Charmander 2021
Do you want to know how I got these Chars?
I'm loving these different kinds of videos, it's like having Show of the Weekend back 🥺
I miss show of the weekend
Incredible how they seem to get a bit crazier whenever Pokémon is involved.
So, this is like the Oxtra version of the Dicebreaker mini figure painting streams/videos I love it!
Dicebreaker: Hey, let's hang out and make some cool minis!
Oxtra: O Charmander, I summon thee from the darkness to do my bidding!
Dicebreaker must be so proud at how much of their mini-painting teaching Luke has retained XD XD
Me before this video: Luke, Jon and Ellen are fully grown adults. People calling Producer Jon their "Dad" are just being silly. Luke and Ellen's brand on Oxtra is "older sibling" and that youthful, zany vibe plays well to their target demographic.
Me after watching Luke and Ellen threatening to eat plastic, repeatedly giggling about bums, getting covered in paint, getting distracted by the magazine and singing their favourite songs like Jigglypuff: Producer Jon is their Dad.
Ooooh, a painting stream, surely this is will 100% wholesome content!
"Going a bit mad on the undercarriage"
"I am finished, but...it's bum has been ruined"
OK, 99% wholesome content then!
Yeaj, Jon rekt'um
This just highlights how much I seem to have missed show of the weekend craft-time
The most important question: did anyone drink their paint water?
Was going to say that myself, but you beat me to it.😂
Oh wait wrong channel.
Now I really want a shirt with a picture of Ellen's beret and the words, "This is my Art Hat."
the only thing i want to know is if andy judged the pikachus afterwards
They're keeping that video in the can for next week.
No doubt Andy judged that Luke's was the best Pikachu because he *always* does unless dynamite has been involved. Though to be fair, both Pikachu and Charmander had an air of 'Pokemon Zombie Apocalypse' about them.
Ellen answering the eternal question, "what if Goya's 'Saturn Devouring His Son' was a pikachu figurine?"
Smells like teen Jigglypuff?
What is this song all about
No it's not supposed to knock you out.
I am so mad you're asleep,
draw on your face you stupid sheep
Jiggly-jigglyJiggly-ypuff
Jiggly-jigglyJiggly-ypuff
OH MY GOD.
So underrated coment.
Seeing the birth of joker Charmander and slender Pikachu is something I won't forget.
A Sunday upload?? My goodness, friends, what a treat!
My thought exactly :)
Last week they uploaded the naming of all gen 1 pokemon on sunday an absolutely brilliant treat hahaha
@@coolywooly0 Oh, was that on Sunday too? Two times makes a trend, so I guess Sunday is now Poke day!
@The Gaming Meta it’s always the cute ones that turn out to be murderers so I’ve got my eye on you Togepi!
It started with D&D, now miniature painting. Be careful, it's only a short step to *gasp* Warhammer 40k and then it's all over.
don't be silly... the easy way is to get out a Risk set... I personally recommend Risk 2210, and paint the armies. :D MUCH cheaper than buying a Warhammer army. :D
10:26 This is it. This is what Kurt Cobain envisioned. Pinnacle of art
Smells Like Teen Spirits of Dead Children.
I can't tell whether this is supposed to be
'It's Fine Art'
'It's just fine Art'
or 'Fine, It's just art'
I am HERE for Luke and Ellen having a Jigglypuff Karaoke channel!
I'm already trying to work out which one breaks away from it to pursue a solo career.
Might depend on if you want a songwriter or not? :)
Ah, painting onto unprimed plastic. That brings back some grim Warhammer flashbacks there.
I did say to myself out loud, "should they be thinning the paints?"
@@MarwinKun and the lord said “Two shall the coats be and thin”. Also probably would have gone better with a primer of some sort. They should have asked Johnny and made it a crossover 😃
@@clysmic yeah I remember thinking once "why bother with this primer nonsense?" I learned very shortly after how much of a nightmare painting onto plain plastic is.
Might have been pre-primed as some minis are
"Wanna know how I got these Chars?"
And remember what Dicebreaker always says: "drink your paintwater!"
no, wait, it was the other thing....
@@marhawkman303 "Drink your paint thinner"?
@@merepseu hmmm maybe it was "do not"? or was it donut? hard to be sure.
If you have never accidentally taken a sip of your paint water, it just means you have not yet painted enough.
Last night my computer updated around 2 am, and started playing an Oxtra video very loudly. When half asleep and confused me asked my sister was Luke and Ellen were doing in my apartment, she said "an intervention".
i empathise with Luke. yesterday i made some cards, and got glue all over my fingers. every time there's paint, glue, any craft liquid, i get it all over my fingers and sometimes on the rest of my hands. ive even gotten paint on my elbow and once my socks.
Wow is it Christmas again already?
Occasionally I draw with ballpoint pens. And somehow I manage to get the ink all over my hands, clothes and face. _Ballpoint pens._
What are you talking about?? They look great!...I baselessly assert, not having watched the video yet, but confident I won't come to eat my words when I do.
P.S. You guys ARE great, though. Ipso facto.
Would have loved to see Dicebreaker react to this miniature painting :P
Welcome to the hell of "paint a..." children's magazines. Imagine the results when an impatient 8 year old does them
I would suggest talking to Dicebreaker about painting figures next time.
Using a kit like that, but with the rules you can only use the paint & brushes in the kit
I use proper brushes from an art shop and the tiny ones see the most wear. I got a full set and some of them have never been used but I've replaced the small ones again and again. The 1/8" and 3/16" get some use and the 1/32" and even smaller _2/0_ round brushes last one A3 page each. The 1" square brush is good only for tickling the back of my own neck. It's _very_ good for that, but that's the only thing I do with it.
I know someone who paints miniatures. He buys the _2/0_ brushes too, but he cuts some of the bristles off them to reduce them down to finer tips for little details like the gleam on an eye.
should have sent some to dicebreaker so they could show you how it's done with their mini painting skills
or potentially just show you up, either works
Toy customizing? You guys made my day!
Two of my favourite channels coming together 🥰
I sold this magazine to a six year old last month at work. She was very excited to paint togepi!
Sunday afternoon chill streams (or not chill, looking at last week) are a much needed thing.
I didn't think I could fall in love with Ellen anymore until she started singing Smells Like Teen Spirit as Jigglypuff! I laughed so much at Total Eclipse as well.
Footage that was edited out: Jon drinking a beer contemplating how he ended up babysitting two normal adults.
Also edited out - any footage of two normal adults.
Mimikyu is even creepier when you consider that Pikachu isn't actually anything special in-universe. So that means that either (1) Mimikyu decided to copy a random mouse pokémon for no reason, or (2) Mimikyu can see through the fourth wall and OH GOD NO IT'S SO FAST ARJHGKENGJFSZZSKKkhhhhh.....
I was not prepared for the level of detail Producer Jon managed to achieve with that brush- that's really impressive!
Its not Ellen’s fault that her Pikachu is static-y, those paintbrushes were AWFUL!
Two thin coats....oh wait wrong stream
I wonder what Dicebreaker would have to say about this.
I think they'd say "we currently have a job opening." 🤞
10:38 and now we need a 3rd channel, OutsideJigglypuff
Soooo ... when does the Jigglypuff Song Cover Channel launch?
Johnny is going to be both appreciative and livid at these art techniques
Now I'm imagining a crossover with last week's challenge: "paint all 151 original Pokemon from memory!"
It could the first, but probably also last, 48 hour stream in OX history.
If I were an art teacher, I have to say, I wouldn't Beret either Ellen or Luke on their artistic talent. Clearly they love their work, and aren't in it for the Monet.
You've just found a gem of content with that Jigglypuff song cover. I need a Literally Everyone Else in the World Jigglypuff cover.
Luke and Ellen should join in on Dicebreaker's painting sessions.
Luke already did one of those, they taught him to paint an owlbear
11:46 Luke: "Go a bit mad on the undercarriage"
John: (Wheezy chuckle)
Luke: "John..."
John: (Snorts)
Ellen: (Giggles)
Luke: "Ellen..."
Well, if you're going to declare you'll "go a bit mad on the undercarriage", hehehe.
"Pikachu is quite steaky" and there we have a new POKÉMON: Streakachu 😅
The miniature-painter in me is constantly thinking spray-undercoat then blu-tack to an old paint pot.
Have certainly had the "tried to paint the mouth and it ended up looking like the Joker" thing happen before. Thankfully the most noticeable case was on a vampire.
EVERYONE should learn the blu-tack trick
Outside Xtra vs DICEBREAKER paint off stream.
Going to have to figure out a way to balance the extra practice DICEBREAKER has..... 🧐 any ideas?
Video on a Sunday?
Have I said that I love you guys? Too many times you say? A bit too often?
I love you guys.
John feels like their dad, I love it
"Sounds like a dialup modem", so, like every other Pokémon besides pikachu?
Yeah, almost wasn’t in the mood for this but when I saw that Producer Jon was more actively involved my interest peaked!
Singing every song like Jigglypuff is just Alvin and the chipmunks?
Oh my gosh you're right... O_o
Next week:
Luke introduces his Tyranids, Ellen introduces her Dark Eldar, Producer Jon introduces his Ultramarines...
I always love when they fall into the self-aware "I get paid to do some weird shit" giggles.
Ok, just gonna throw this idea out there. Future Mini Charity Stream: Luke and Ellen sing songs in the style of Jigglypuff, but everyone who donates over a certain amount gets to pick a song? I mean, I’d watch that...
This reminds me of when my friend and I were painting some 40k minis for our Dark Heresy game. I'd not really painted minis much (except for a brief while as a small child), and he'd been playing the proper game for years and years and painted many an army. However, from grades 5-12 I had gone to a magnet school for the Visual and Performing Arts (myself a visual art major), and had done a bit of art college.
About 20 minutes in, I showed him my figure and asked him how he thought it was coming along.
"You sunuvabitch" was his reply.
After that he asked me to fix the paint job on his figure, and then I was in charge of finishing the rest of the party's pieces as well. :D
Plot Twist: 'sing like Jigglypuff' means you still sound like you, but every time you sing, everyone who can hear you (including recordings, video calls and over the phone) instantly falls asleep.
Please send me that. It would help so much with my insomnia.
“Can we have charmander?” Mom:we have charmander at home
Charmander at home:
The singing is Absol-utely brilliant
Dicebreaker must be having a heart attack at this painting quality.
Just in case you decide to do this again, first off, shake your paints, they settle so the paint is thicker at the bottom. Secondly, give the figures a wash in warm soapy water, then dry, batch made figures often have a lubricant to make it easier to separate them from the mold. If the paint is still streaking then apply two thinner coats, acrylic paints do water down, mix on a flat plastic surface or a ceramic tile if you have any. And use blue tac to attach to something to use as a handle and get some other brushes, they provide the cheapest stuff in those magazines! I paint miniatures so it's all stuff I've learnt over the years.
Watching this while painting up a new Aggressor squad for my Space Marines and has me really chuckling :-D
Oxtra: "We're doing a painting stream!"
Dicebreaker: "HEY!!! That's our thing!!!"
Jigglypuff: * *sings Everything is Awesome* *
My ears: * *bleeding* *
We've got anger (Pikachu), madness (Charmander) and sadness (Togepi) and also lots of fun and laughs (Ellen, Luke and Jon) from one video.
I also have to say that i realy like Ellen's beret/cap, looks very cool :)
Those sunday videos reminds me of old shows of the weekend (i miss it so much), i cannot wait for the next one. :)
Jokermon: "Wanna know how I got these Chars?"
i've actually spent a good amount of repainting bootleg pokemon figures- for the most part they all turned out pretty well. i'm pretty proud of the first figure i repainted- a lapras- cause it turned out pretty damn good if i do say so myself lmao. i'd add pics if i could however i can't lol. also for reference, the figures i painted are all really small, like about as big around as a quarter. if anyone wants i can send the twitter link in a reply cause i posted them on twitter
Ellen, that paintbrush is not tiny. I use up 1 mm brushes doing details. They'll last about an A3 page each. The 5 mm round brush does impressionist distant forests and the bigger ones barely get used at all.
'I'll email you the poster' 'Dont eat that' 'its lovely theyre both very good actually' is just Max Dad Energy from Producer John
this felt like the old show of the weekend again and i love it so much
Ellen's "art beret" is actually to hide the Oxventure skeleton induced short bangs
Producer/Dad Jon
19:28 "...Sorry. We won't do it again."
A year later: They keep doing it, and we keep coming back.
"Togepi's ruined bum"
How did you know about my pokemon erotica?!
Now remember what happens at Pokémon daycare stays in Pokémon daycare 😂
As a Wargamer and miniature painter I'm actually rather impressed with the results you managed with those gods awful brushes and I agree that Luke especially pulled of some great eyes. I'd love to see you guys take a shot at painting some gaming miniatures with decent brushes & paints and remember... Two Thin Coats :D
Luke was in one of the Dicebreaker mini painting streams last year, if you haven't seen it.
I was definitely like Luke whenever I was forced to do art stuff; hands covered in paint, slowly realizing the terrors I had inflicted upon my poor art assignment as I looked upon its streaky, uncoordinated paints.
Wait... what if Johnny makes the Oxventurers paint their own Miniatures!
Ellen's Pikachu looks like it wants to devour my soul.
Now I just want to paint all the pokemon in flesh tones and see how much more disturbing they become.
Thanks, you just made me appreciate how limited my imagination is:]
Ellen's Pikachu has been feasting on the blood of it's victims.
10:25 i never thought i'd hear a version of "smells like teen spirit" like that 🤔
Has there ever been a duo (and now trio with Producer John on screen more) that have as good chemistry as these lovely lot?
Thanks for helping me stay sane during the last bajillion months of lockdown 🤟😎🤟
