  • This peperomia suffered a lot. It was so gorgeous but was damaged a lot by pests, so I decided to propagate, to make the plant look more bushy.
I took two cuttings. And yes, a cutting with no leaves can also be propagated. I put the cuttings in water, you can also stick them straight into soil. Important propagation points:
➡️Take a cutting properly, meaning include at least 1 node. I try to have 2, to increase chances if success
➡️Light is crucial for cuttings, as it is for potted plants. More light increases chances of success
➡️Replace water weekly, you need to replenish oxygen, also the PH of the water changes, which reduces the availability of nutrients from water. Nodes should be in water not above it.
➡️When the cuttings have 1 to 2 inches of roots, pot in soil
➡️Even if you do everything right, not every cutting will propagate, don't be too hard on yourself ☺️

PRODUCT THAT I USE AND LOVE THAT CAN SPEED UP PROPAGATION (affiliate links):
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - Heat mat (place underneath the propagation vessel to warm it up, can cut propagation time in half)
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - an air pump provides a constant inflow of oxygen which speeds up propagation. Oxygen is crucial for healthy root development
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - humidity dome for soil propagation
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - rooting hormone, for plants that are not easy to propagate
    FERTILIZER
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - Dyna Gro fertilizer, excellent for tropical plants, contains all 16 minerals houseplants need
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - Espoma succulent and cacti fertilizer
    LIGHT METERS
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - Dr. Meter light meter, the only way to know that you're providing your plants with sufficient light
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - Most light meters apps are incorrect, this one has been pre-calibrated for a variety of cell phones
IF YOU DON'T HAVE ENOUGH NATURAL LIGHT, YOU CAN USE GROW LIGHTS TO SPEED UP PROPAGATION: ➡️ www.mrhousepla... - 60W Sansi grow light (for large plants)
➡️ www.mrhousepla... - 15W Sansi grow light (for smaller plants)
    ➡️ www.mrhousepla... - 15w Sansi grow light
➡️ www.mrhousepla... cable for Sansi grow lights
    ➡️ www.mrhousepla... - shelf grow light
    ➡️ www.mrhousepla... - Soltech Solution's 20W light - Soltech Solutions grow lights

why is the main stem bare? Did you remove the leaves. I have one like this that is getting too tall. scared to snip it, don't want to kill it.

My leaf fell off above where it meets the stalk (was rescue and is doing well) the leaf prior to me had been broken. He held on for over a year but today just found the leaf sitting. Can u still propagate it without stalk or stem?

Hi, sorry for the late reply, yes you can propagate your Peperomia via leaf cutting 😊

Hola , cuanto tiempo aproximado se demora en echar raíces??

    • @MrHouseplant
      @MrHouseplant  11 месяцев назад +2

Hi, the length of time it takes for the cutting to root will depend on many factors and will be different for everyone. For one person a cutting might root in a week. For someone else it might take 2-3 months.
It depends on the amount of light, amount of oxygen in water, water temperature and other factors.
As a general rule of thumb, leave the cutting in water until it grow 2-3 inches of roots. Then you can pot it in soil. 😊

@@MrHouseplant Hi! What about the snake plant(that kinda wide one)? Mine's been left to grow roots for already two weeks. However, still no roots to be seen

@@ADkhar-mh7lzsnake plants take quite a while to prop. Try cutting the roots in an upside down V shape, that helps. And you can stick that right in the soil. But it's been 7 months so you may have roots by now

terrible advice. this will not work with the cutting. youtube seriously needs to get back the dislike button.
