There is a legal issue going on leading to the video being taken down (hopefully temporarily). From what I gather, Ren paid to be able to use a beat made by someone else. He made the Sick Boi video and after it became popular, he learned that the person he bought the beat from had used a sample from someone else without permission. The person that made the original sample got greedy and started demanding money from Sick Boi and it has been an ongoing battle for the last few weeks. (you can read some of it in the "Community" tab on Ren's YT page). I'm not sure that the above is entirely correct, but that is what I understood from the information I read. There are also a couple of videos by music lawyers explaining what is going on that you can search for.
Ren has said that this song sets out all the things he wished he had said to the doctors thst told him his pain and illness was all in his head. He had a real physical illness ,Lyme disease, and because it went 7 years untreated and misdiagnosed, it caused a lot of permanent damage to his brain, nerves, joints,organs, and immunity. His psychosis was the result of the Lyme bacteria attacking his nervous system
The official sick boi video on Ren's channel is currently down due to a dispute over licenses for a sample used in the song. Ren hasn't done anything wrong, but now he has to go through all the legal stuff to get everything sorted out.

You may want to try another aspect of Ren, namely what we Renegades call his ‘bard core’ work. Best to try the Tale of Jenny and Screech’ which is about 13 mins. But is three parts put together to tell one fascinating story. I guarantee you will be shocked! (In a good way). Ren has hundreds of songs on RUclips, including his work with the Big Push, and many live performances that he had recorded and mixed himself. He is a musician of multiple talents and skills. He plays guitar, bass, and piano, all very well. If you ever have time I HIGHLY suggest listening to Rens story through his videos (I think they were put on his other channel Ren Makes Stuff but I can't remember) called Chapters. Crazy yet inspiring story!
Ren certainly can *rap* rap, but you don't see that here really- Check out his "The Hunger" if you'd like a condensed showing of how many cadences, speeds, styles, he can utilise when rapping. I'm pretty sure he put that one together as a cheeky little 2min showcase for that purpose! Personally, knowing that the lad spent most of his twenties seriously ill, I most enjoy watching him having fun with his music, so I tend to keep going back to his busking on the streets of Brighton, whether solo, with his band The Big Push, or with the also excellent Sam Tompkins. There are some impressive skills on show while he's obviously having fun with his gift on the streets there. :) SSRIs are handed out like candy here in the UK for sure. The NHS can afford the pills, but not hiring expensive experienced pyschologists- if you want talking therapies (& Lord knows a decent therapist is way more effective than messing around with seratonin levels- I can send you links to papers showing lower seratonin levels are not causal to depression if you like), you better be wealthy enough to organise that yourself thru private payment. SSRIs are not so problematic to scale down to zero over a period of months (to be safe, I would ensure someone whose judgement you trust is checking-in with you at least a couple of times a week to see how you're getting on tho). Anti-anxiety meds such as benzodiazepines (Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, etc) on the other hand, are a *nightmare* to come off once a regular habit has been formed - seek as much medical supervision as you can. p.s. definitely worth using a decent pair of headphones to make sure you don't miss anything (this is all clear as a bell thru headies, as long as you can manage the Northern Irish accent of the therapist!), & letting OBS grab the audio track from the browser. ;) p.p.s. your mic is clipping a tad - watch those levels aren't going into the red on OBS. ;) Anyhoo.... all the best from a random subscriber in sunny Scotland! :)

It's not about mental illness. The first part of the song is about his MISdiagnosis with various forms of mental illness. He was told that his physical symptoms were all in his head (psychosomatic). The psychotropic drugs they put him on made things much worse. Partly because his REAL chronic illnesses were left untreated, to ravage his body and brain. Partly because MCAS had given him severe autoimmunity, amongst other things. Thus he had a severe autoimmune to virtually all food, for instance, and also to the (incorrect) powerful psychotropic drugs they had him on. The second part of the song is about the sickness in society, the music industry and our relationship with the natural world. Btw, Hi Ren isn't specifically about mental or chronic illness either. Those things are referenced, along with music and the creative process, because he's telling it through the lens of his own experience, where chronic illness, mental illness and music have been the dominant forces in his life. As the song makes clear and as Ren himself has said, it's actually about the human condition generally and about accepting that darkness isn't something that can be banished from your life or your thoughts and it even has positive aspects. To attempt to banish it completely is just a frustrating waste of time and effort, that is usually counter-productive. Once we accept this simple, if unpalatable truth, life becomes a little easier and darkness a little easier to deal with and to mitigate... There's also a lot of humour in Hi Ren, which people often miss on a first listen. :)
It's a lot easier to pick up lyrics and all the little subtle musical nuances, when listening with headphones. Preferably some half decent, over-ear headphones, rather than earbuds. You miss so much without earphones. If you're actually listening to music, rather than just having play in the background, earphones make a HUGE difference! :)
Just in case you didn’t catch it, Ren writes all his lyrics, makes all his own beats, edits, produces and directs! Completely independent artist. Also he’s the king of the One Take! Hi Ren was a one shot! Almost all vids are one shots! Anyway I’m 48. Started anti-depressants at 15. I’ve learned that anyone that prescribes u medicine with out getting you into deep therapy is absolutely wrong!!! Meds have a place when you are deep but are not The. Answer! This medicine issue in this track even means more about the system bc he was being treated for the thing bc Mental health drs weren’t listening to him! The Lyme ate away at his body and brain for 8 yrs! He was tortured. Meds were not only anti depr. Or anti-anxiety, but heavy anti psychotics that cause psychosis, hallucinations etc when that’s not the problem!!! They change brain forever. His treatments this year has been iv meds everyday, multiple surgeries. Repair of the entire myelin sheath of his brain. *please please don’t come off meds on your own!! I’ve done it too many times. Sick Boi has been removed by Ren now, due to the ridiculousness of the whole, greedy mess. Streaming - everything. It only exists in reactions and on CD now, so I’m also grateful to whomever is keeping it going. He did say he’s going to remake it so I’m really looking forward to it. I think the beginning is jumbled and just sounding like noise with words if you really strain to make them out. That's what they must have sounded by this point in Ren's situation. I recommend to the listen to the tales trilogy: jenny's tale, screech's tale an voilets tale. You need to listen to them back to back and tead between the lines. Ren is telling you a story with more than just written lines. Just like Hi Ren is is a live performance

It's not about mental illness. The first part of the song is about his MISdiagnosis with various forms of mental illness. He was told that his physical symptoms were all in his head (psychosomatic). The psychotropic drugs they put him on made things much worse. Partly because his REAL chronic illnesses were left untreated, to ravage his body and brain. Partly because MCAS had given him severe autoimmunity, amongst other things. Thus he had a severe autoimmune to virtually all food, for instance, and also to the (incorrect) powerful psychotropic drugs they had him on.
The second part of the song is about the sickness in society, the music industry and our relationship with the natural world.
Btw, Hi Ren isn't specifically about mental or chronic illness either. Those things are referenced, along with music and the creative process, because he's telling it through the lens of his own experience, where chronic illness, mental illness and music have been the dominant forces in his life.
As the song makes clear and as Ren himself has said, it's actually about the human condition generally and about accepting that darkness isn't something that can be banished from your life or your thoughts and it even has positive aspects. To attempt to banish it completely is just a frustrating waste of time and effort, that is usually counter-productive. Once we accept this simple, if unpalatable truth, life becomes a little easier and darkness a little easier to deal with and to mitigate... There's also a lot of humour in Hi Ren, which people often miss on a first listen. :)
It's a lot easier to pick up lyrics and all the little subtle musical nuances, when listening with headphones. Preferably some half decent, over-ear headphones, rather than earbuds. You miss so much without earphones. If you're actually listening to music, rather than just having play in the background, earphones make a HUGE difference! :)

REN is having some copy rights issues with Sick Boi. I’m not sure of the details.
Just in case you didn’t catch it, Ren writes all his lyrics, makes all his own beats, edits, produces and directs! Completely independent artist. Also he’s the king of the One Take! Hi Ren was a one shot! Almost all vids are one shots! Anyway I’m 48. Started anti-depressants at 15. I’ve learned that anyone that prescribes u medicine with out getting you into deep therapy is absolutely wrong!!! Meds have a place when you are deep but are not The. Answer! This medicine issue in this track even means more about the system bc he was being treated for the thing bc Mental health drs weren’t listening to him! The Lyme ate away at his body and brain for 8 yrs! He was tortured. Meds were not only anti depr. Or anti-anxiety, but heavy anti psychotics that cause psychosis, hallucinations etc when that’s not the problem!!! They change brain forever. His treatments this year has been iv meds everyday, multiple surgeries. Repair of the entire myelin sheath of his brain. *please please don’t come off meds on your own!! I’ve done it too many times. You MUST wean off slow with a dr. Thanks for another Ren reaction!❤✌️🫂

Sick Boi has been removed by Ren now, due to the ridiculousness of the whole, greedy mess. Streaming - everything. It only exists in reactions and on CD now, so I’m also grateful to whomever is keeping it going. He did say he’s going to remake it so I’m really looking forward to it.

I think the beginning is jumbled and just sounding like noise with words if you really strain to make them out. That's what they must have sounded by this point in Ren's situation. He's 'losing patience with the process' but he's still hopeful and kind and lets her blah, blah, blah
