- A couple of week's ago Alfie Deyes uploaded a video to his channel entitled "Real & Honest Chat With ImAllexx & iNabber" in which Alfie, ImAllexx & iNabber discuss all of the criticisms that Alfie & Zoella have undercome in recent years by the commentary community here on RUclips. As a creator who has been at the forefront of many of these criticisms, I felt it would be justified to respond to this video in complete open honesty.

I feel like the whole “chat” was an intimidation game, taking advantage of how much younger Alex and Fraser are compared to Alfie. Alfie’s body language is aggressive, uninviting and does not welcome people to offer an honest opinion. I don’t blame Alex for backtracking, I’m around the same age as him, and I’d be shitting myself if I was in that situation, across from a friend, a man between us, yelling, punching and slamming the table, visibly angry and trying to scare me. That’s not comfortable for anyone. I think the main reason he chose Alex is because Alex is almost known for being awkward and shy, so to putting him in that situation is a perfect recipe to help Alfie.

Yeah, I really don’t like his attitude, or at least the way he portrays that attitude. I do feel like if he used his language in a better way, he could be seen as more funny and entertaining, rather than sarcastic and bitchy. I definitely do think that fame has gotten to his head and thinking about it, I would really hate to meet someone like him. I feel like if a person who wasn’t famous acted like this, they would be very looked down upon, with good reason, of course

@@ct8369 inabber made a video about the podcast and he says hes not very good in confrontational situations and the podcast did not go as he was expecting. He found that Alfie kept cutting him off and he dodn know what to do about it so he just let it happen. Its unfortunate but you cant really blame him for it

ivy obviously he’s not like Hitler and the person making this comment is not really implying it, but by saying it’s unfair to criticize someone you don’t know when they’ve publicly messed up can be compared, you don’t have to know someone to recognize they made a mistake and to critique them for it
because hitler was a man who was a murderer. when it comes to evil spirited, phobic & etc. you can easily judge. but slamming someone for selling books, merch & earning money & one or two times doing something ignorant (though at the time not realized) things, isn't a big factor as to someone's character. nowadays there's a cancel & woke culture that wants people to stand up to their mistakes, but even after that happens there's already a trend to shit on them and hate them for everything they do. in reality, you don't know alfie, you don't know jack, you don't know any of these people. a ten minute video is easily manipulated & let's be honest a lot of situations about alfie, zoe & many other people have been taken out of context and out of nothing turns to the next world problem.

"only 4 grand" is he having a laugh, that's how much i get for a student loan, that's how much i get to live off of from the government for a YEAR, and there are MILLIONS of people out there who wouldn't even dream of getting that a year! there are people living off of £5 a week or less and yet he's like i only made £4000 he is SO out of touch
Yoongiismysuga 4 grand is meant to help to pay for rent etc, you’re not “meant” to just live off it for the whole year. Most students have a job, a lot even have 2 to help them through.
First Last 1.) have you been a UK student in the last 5 years 2.) nope that's your maintenance loan the literal description of the maintenence loan is what the government believe you deserve to live off of for a year in relation to your parents income, so that's for things other than tuition, living money i.e. rent, bills, food, travel etc. 3.) i am a current student, my contact hours with the university are 30 a week with 20 hours of individual study (assignments, exam revision, dissertation work etc) which it usually ends up being longer than that because they under estimate how long things take. Im timetables to be on monday wednesday thursday friday, meaning i can only work part time work as a student mostly for minimum pay on tuesday saturday and sunday, leaving no extra time for uni work if i need it and also no time for a social/leisure side of my life, it would be work every day with no day off. now whilst possible, extremely difficult, now when (in a personal case) you add in the fact that i also have therapy appointments every tuesday (because it's the only day i'm not in uni) that also takes away tuesdays.
anyway the point of my comment was not to point out the flawed SFE system, or even to highlight how little i see of any form of loan, but to instead highlight the fact that "only 4 grand" is a ridiculous statement since for most people in the UK £4000 worth of income for what seems to be one single month (without everything else alfie deyes makes) it would literally change their life, especially considering (as i said at the end of my post about millions living off of even less than £4000 a year) there are millions of people in the UK living in poverty, living off of £5-10 a week, i'm not sure why you places so much importance on the student loan aspect of things, but i guess you just needed a reason to be annoyed/debate/get angry about something or at someone today.

Plenty of students work a job as well as have 30 contact hours per week and revise and don’t moan about the government not giving them enough. If you’re not receiving a lot its because your parents are earning a decent amount and are expected to support you somewhat. If they’re not then you have to support yourself like an adult and not expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter. I was a student from 2015-2018 with around 30 contact hours per week, had a part time job on some evenings, still had time for a social life and finished with a 2.1. A lot of people do this and don’t feel the need to complain constantly. But some people love to play the victim and act like anyone that says otherwise is “triggered”. Also, there are not “millions of people living off £5 - £10 per week” in the UK, my dissertation was on benefits and disincentives to work you’ve just pulled that figure out of your arse to make a point. Obviously £4k is a lot to any average person but the points you were making were weak and barely even true. That’s all I need to say :)
First Last 1.) i would like to have concrete evidence of where i "moaned", i do support myself like an adult, however i would like to also add that some people can't, people with disabilities for example physical or mental and yes you can get DSA but that funds materials to help you study not living money/rent money. and that's good for you i'm glad you managed it, many people can't, your circumstance is not EVERYONES circumstance and your personal experience does not mean EVERYONE else can have 30 contact hours plus a part time job. nobody called anyone triggered and nobody is "playing the victim". statistically 14.3 million people in the UK are living in poverty i've linked a joseph roundtree study into poverty in the UK : fullfact.org/economy/poverty-uk-guide-facts-and-figures/ my whole entire course is sociology and criminology, i focus on class disability and poverty almost every essay/exam/mini diss and actual diss i have written. so actually those statistics are not at all incorrect, i didn't moan about anything, and you've taken your personal experience and expected everyone to have the same one. i guess if you physically can't juggle intensive uni hours/job/social life then you just "aren't an adult and are playing the victim" instead of maybe actually PHYSICALLY not being able to do those things.

ps, if your dissertation was about benefits and disincentives to work, then of course you're going to be biased because that's what you've studied, maybe next time do a diss on the amount of people in the UK living homeless or in poverty due to no fault of their own, look at mertons strain theory for one and see why some people end up where they do, also maybe do some research into the amount of the UK who can't work due to physical or mental disability, look at studies into the mental health of university students and why that may mean they can't do intensive uni hours plus a job plus social life like you can, and then maybe form an unbiased opinion before you start talking like you understand what anyone has gone through other than yourself 😘😘

@@morethangreens - after the initial burst of sales (which is where the 4 grand figure came from), the rate of sales for that book dropped off dramatically and once a lot of his fans had purchased the book, relatively very few books would have been sold. Today, I would have thought that the sales of that book would be tiny.
I work for the NHS. £4000 for me would be 3 months' salary, and £4000 for me would cover 11 months' rent. Sickens me that they don't even realise that £4k is actually a hell of a lot of money to some people, and we work damn hard for it... Unlike some who blatantly rip off others' work (cough wreck this journal cough)
@@showmoke He said the £4K was his advance, which means he got that before the book was even published. I don't know how much he made from the book but I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't have made that £4K back and then some pretty easily. There was a second (maybe third?) book as well so he would have made a pretty decent profit overall. It just seemed a bit disingenuous to mention the figure of £4K as if that's "all" he made from the book.
But in any case, I agree with Jack's point that it wasn't about how much he made, it was the fact that he obviously did it for the money. I don't have a problem with RUclipsrs trying to make extra money but in this case, the product was terrible and a massive rip-off of another book already on the market.
I think that’s fair but 4000 is also less than what people assumed he made when they claim he got “massive amounts of money.” Like I would assume he made hundreds of thousands from the book, so hearing he made “only 4000” is a surprisingly low number relative to what the expectation of what he made was.
I wouldn’t like to see Alfie in an argument with Zoe. Very controlling person

Melissa Alex live streamed on the situation. Apparently jack does the exact same things that jack accused alfie of. He said jack is a hypocrite for what he is saying. And Alex said that jack kicked Alex off their show at vidcon last minute leaving him not being able to go in. Alex said jack backstabbed him.

I know you lot have missed them recently, and I apologise for not being super on form - so I hope this half an hour episode makes up for my lack of uploads. I really, really needed to respond to some of Alfie's comments, and as much as I like Alex & Fraser - for the sake of fairness, I had to critique all of their comments equally and fairly. Please do let me know your opinions down below guys - I'll be reading the comments all night and responding to as many people as I can.
Also, if this hits 15,000 likes before tomorrow, I'll get to work on my next shed video!

Agree with so many of your opinions here, i think alfie was too scared to invite you and also proved he was even more of a privileged conceited individual in the way he presented his points and lashed out at criticism

I don't think they hate alfie or zoella. Angelika and Jackmate are just blunt but i have never seen any hate in their videos, only opinions that are delivered in a more aggresive way. And that's the reason why these two commentary channels are the best (in my opinion)
It really pisses me off how much Alfie interrupts Fraser when he has really excellent points and counter arguments. Alfie just pied off hello world aswell. He really should talk about what actually happened at hello world 🙃

I feel sorry for Alex, I really do. Hes shy, not good with confrontation, he has a bit of anxiety and he has a very low self esteem. On top of that, he "knows his place"
And with that I mean, that he knows that he has less power than Alfie (money, success, etc), is younger than him and has a relatively new channel (in comparison to Alfie). He automatically has a tad bit of respect and is intimidated by Alfies success and by Alfies passive aggressive mannerisms.
He came in as support and expected to be the hand in the background that's holding Fraser up, but ended up being the main target and being attacked relentlessly.
Alfie fucked them up and did them dirty with his strategy.
Fraser however expected to be the main target and was pleasently surprised when he saw that he wouldnt be the main target. Therefor he gave better answers since he was better prepared and was payed off gently.
I feel so damn sorry for Alex, he didn't deserve that. And I feel sorry for Fraser since he's a good person and probably didn't expect the meeting to turn out like that and then to not be in the position to defend his friend out of respect and the power imbalance.

@Wucken Fasted The problem isn't that he's shy, it's that he wasn't given a chance to prepare because he wasn't expecting to be debated with because that's not what they agreed upon. Alfie is the one who flipped the script on them and turned it into a confrontation instead of a conversation, he constantly interrupted Fraiser (who he was supposed to be talking with, not Alex) and kept targeting Alex.
As someone with anxiety myself, I am totally up for a debate if I have time to prepare, but if I were put on the spot like that by someone super aggressive when that wasn't what I agreed upon, yeah I will start to clam up. But that doesn't mean I'm incapable of debate or shouldn't get into it. Even the best debaters will have trouble if they go into a debate unprepared. Alfie cornered them and turned this into something that wasn't initially agreed upon and he knows damn well that he did it with how prepared he was.
yeah but i do think at the end of the day if your gunna slag someone off on youtube have the balls to back up your argument face to face. u can’t really say he can’t handle the confrontation when he’s posting videos with an opinion asking for it to get a reaction! i don’t disagree with alex and what he had said but come on back up ur point 😂

As a published author I want to clarify something Alfie said - he may have 'only' received £4,000 for the book's advance fee, but that's just the upfront money you get before publication. Once it starts selling and makes more than £4,000 in profit, he'll also get royalties on top of that, aka a percentage of each book sold. So he probably earned a shit load considering how well it sold. Conveniently he didn't mention that... ha.
I'm a fan of Alex, but he doesn't have the irl confrontation skills to do something like this, and like you said in the video; hiding behind irony. In hindsight, I think it'd have been so much better if it was Jack and Fraser. Although they all have great points, Jack and Fraser have the confidence in order to smoothly get across his points.

It was a very smart PR move, it appeared Alfie was addressing the subject but with people who also had their own eyes firmly on their own image for their own brands and that showed in how they answered if you contrast some of their recent comments in the recent work they have done. Personally think iNabber came out of it better out of the 3 purely for holding some integrity, never really watched his content before but he made his points where he felt that he didn't agree even if it was met with being spoken over half way through, which if you were a smaller RUclipsr on a larger channel you'd conceed this to avoid the footage just being cut.

In relation to Lauren’s comment I met Zoe , Alfie , Poppy and Sean in Liverpool , after Alfie Initially ignoring us Sean stopped. Zoe , Sean and Poppy were so lovely and happy to take pictures and chat however Alfie was nothing but rude to us and completely changed our opinion on him.

Just watching these clips makes me really uncomfortable. And these authors, some of whom are recipients of coveted awards such as the Man Booker Prize, and Nobel Prize for Literature, do not say 'if you're not from the Publishing industry, or an 'expert on writing' you cannot critique my book', because literary criticism is something anyone who reads can participate in (providing of course, they've read the book they're critiquing).
