That fabric is perfect for your stitch! I'm glad this one didn't make the framing cut; I think it works beautifully as the focal point of your project bag. I absolutely love your tutorials! Thanks for sharing this one!💜
This bag is adorable!! I love the colors. I used to be a sewer and somewhat quilter but now my focus is card making and watch your all of your card making videos. Saw this bag and thought it was so cute that I watched the video. You make it look like I could do this. ❤🤍🖤
I used to sew cross stitch inserts into my girls dresses. One of my favorite patterns to do this with was Mary Dee from children’s classics. Always fun to find a new way to use needlework piece!
Excellent tutorial! I loved the way you added the zippers so there are no seams showing when you unzip it and how you sewed the lining so there are no seams showing. This is not how I was taught so now I will be doing bags your way. I definitely plan to make a bag with a stitched piece, too some day now. Love your beautiful bag!
This is sooo cute! I had to laugh at myself as I know exactly what I would be guilty of…I would get in the sewing groove and quilt stitch right over my cross stitch!😂😂😂 You are the best bag lady!👏🏻😂😂😂
Absolutely perfect! I now need to check what I call my ‘box of opportunities’ to see if anything I’ve not finished yet would serve well for a project bag. Thanks for this great tutorial. Your voice overs are always perfectly done.
Uh oh, now I see another hobby in my future...collecting fabric to make cute bags! I need a bigger house (and budget) for all the paper crafting, cross-stitching and now sewing projects. Such a fun bag! Might have to attempt it with some unfinished stitches, but will need to go fabric shopping first. 🛍🛒 It's a slippery slope.
Wonderful tutorial Nichol. I rewound and watched several sections multiple times. I think this is such a great way to use up those stitches you really don’t know what to do with. Hugs and blessings on your coming week!
What a clever idea. !! You seem an experienced seamstress, so I hesitate to mention the strip method of creating the 2½ square pattern. If you were doing a batch of these, that could be faster. Really like this. Thanks for the idea and great video. Kay in Dallas, Texas
Thank you for this tutorial…Such a cute bag and using those cross stitched finishes that are waiting for a home 😢,so Perfect! Love your bag,I think I-need one for every season😮!😉
Nicole, were you reading my mind?!? I had finished a stitch about a month ago that I had planned to put into the back of my first DIY project bag, LOL! I got the idea after purchasing a pair of fabrics by a favorite designer while on a Shop Hop last year and the colors of them reminded me of a CS pattern I had always wanted to get. My stitch will be going into the back of the bag since I like clear front project bags so plan to make mine that way. I hadn't thought about the details of constructing it yet so am glad for your tips on using Soft 'N Stable and it being enough of a backing for the piece. I think I may try the rickrack embellishment too. Love, love, love your finished bag! With the fabrics you chose to coordinate with it, you'd think it was meant to be finished that way all along!!
Thanks for showing us how you made this bag! I love it!! I found an old goose cross stitch selling for $4. It's old fashioned but cute and I want to make it into a bag but I wasn't sure how. This does give me some ideas.
Oh my this is the cutest bag, Nichol! I’m going to look thru my stitched pieces. I know I have some I stitched and felt they ended up being too big for dough bowls but would look so cute on a bag like this one!
Great video! I've made lots of project bags with basically the same techniques except not using cross stitch or patchwork. I have a finished cross stitch piece that I would like to use in the front of a bag. I just don't know how to figure it out. I don't want patchwork--just fabric. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Oh sweetie its amazing!! I'm hoping to buy a sewing machine soon, my last one broke years ago and it was a manual Singer. Can I ask why you didn't hem the fabric? I was taught as a child to hem, is it not like that anymore? Maybe I need to watch some videos on modern sewing lololol Thank you for showing us how you put it together, you made it look so easy, xxx
You don’t need to hem, over cast or bind the edges because everything is going to be flipped inside out and inside the bag, where it is protected. I hope I’m understanding your question correctly.
I have nearly 40 YEARS of cross stitching projects I don't know what to do with. This is BRILLIANT!!
yay! Happy sewing!
@@kjbuchanan63 me too!

I guess I'm not sure why I would hem the fabric for this? I never have hemmed anything for project bags or quilting.
@@NicholSpohrLLC Ok thats fine, it was just a friendly question, have a lovely weekend xxx
You don’t need to hem, over cast or bind the edges because everything is going to be flipped inside out and inside the bag, where it is protected. I hope I’m understanding your question correctly.
@@ebriggs3498 Thank you, I understand now, makes sense, thanks for answering xx
This is how I make my bags except I add a handle
