DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT: "An Uninvited Guest" was born out of me witnessing a Black man murdered on the six o'clock news. As I watched the video replay on a seemingly endless loop, I could easily become numb to the horror and yet each time it played it was as fresh and real as if it had happened right in front of me. I knew I needed to do something more than just get angry. I needed to do something that would provoke people and that is when I began thinking of this film.

AN UNINVITED GUEST captures the stark reality of racial violence and societal apathy. Richard B. Pierre excels in his ability to evoke discomfort and introspection. Through his concise and impactful storytelling, he forces viewers to grapple with the normalized horror of racial violence and the moral indifference that often accompanies it. The film's tension is palpable, amplified by the stark contrast between the dinner party's calm facade and the violence outside. Pierre's film is a call to action, urging viewers not to become desensitized to the ongoing injustices faced by Black communities.
It's a powerful cinematic experience that challenges audiences to confront their own responses to racial violence and question the societal norms that allow such indifference to persist. By immersing viewers in this harrowing scenario, the film seeks to break the cycle of apathy and provoke a deeper understanding and sense of urgency in addressing racial injustice.
