Three types of black reflective tape and how bright they are. Starting with Nikkalite Flexible Engineer Grade (ELG), then Oralite 5700, and finally Oralite 5650 Rapid Air (RA). Nikkalite ELG grade is flexible and will stretch and conform, especially when heated with a hair dryer. It reflects a bright golden color. Approximately 10 candelas. Oralite 5700 is a bright affordable tape that reflects a white color. Approximately 25 candelas. Finally, Oralite 5650 Rapid Air is an air release reflective that is easy to install due to air channels in the adhesive side of the tape that allow air to escape during installation. It reflects bright white at 35 candelas.

Great video, I was wondering is it possible to use this on motorcycle fairings essentially a wrap?
It conforms a little, but not enough to work as a wrap. Best on smooth flat surfaces.

If I was to flash rgb led light on it like a red or blue, would it reflect the red or blue back or would it be plain white light?
It would return the colored light.
What does it mean to have "rapid air release"? Is that for preventing air bubbles when applying? Does it have some post-application use?
Rapid air is an air egress backing that allows any air bubbles to be pressed or squeegeed out. Little channels in the adhesive.

Is it advisable to put hi vis 100 fabric with glue on my cycle frame from brightness and visibility perspective?
Yes I would recommend it, but keep in mind the bike is usually on the lowest point of view of a driver, I would recommend putting it in your helmet too and/or by wearing a reflective vest

Reflective tapes are like mirrors, so they reflect all types of light.
@@scole999 thanks for the answer. Is there a more specific answer? because there exist colored reflector tapes, which, by definition cannot reflect all *wavelengths* of light.
@@thet0ast3r The color of the film will change the light that the little glass beads in the film return, but if it is a visible light it will reflect it. In other words, if a mirror reflects it, the tape will. But you are correct that a colored tape will alter the light.
