I do it the exact same but the the parabola decides to become a function (like the curved line) and I just give up and then my teacher after I email saying I need more time to do it correctly makes me rewrite my email to him 50 times before he says I have one day and I need a solid 20 minutes per equation and I have to do 24. So yea and then I watch every video ever and none of them make sense and I wonder why I decided to do a ton of math when it was easy so I'm here in eighth grade and my brain can't possibly comprehend this, so then I just watch a million Khan Academy videos a solid 50 times and its just one of the most confusing thigs ever, and all I want it to go back to slope of the line. @PSPhacking2009 Adding the x to the function changes the graph only a little. Because 3x^2 is always a lot bigger than x (except when x is between -1 and +1) the x adds only a small amount to the function value. The graph shifts a small amount up and to the right.
+Luca Alberto Negative 2 to the power of two just means that it's negative 2 times itself once. so (-2 x -2) which you know equals +4. You do calculate the exponent first, but that doesn't mean you can change the notation of the negative 2. -2 is what that number *is*. You are taking that and multiplying it by *itself* so you can't change it.
the vertex is the middle right? so you have to find the middle of your X values. for example if your X values were -2 and 2 it would be zero, if they were 3 and 9 it would be 6... i guess this is kinda late, oops

is there a video where the function is f(x) = ax +/- bx +/- c instead of f(x) = ax +/- c
ax has to be squealed to be considered as a quadratic function so I'm guessing what you should be looking for is a linear function
