My math teacher for the past two years would shove us in one of the classrooms in the school library and just leave us without giving work (so she could go drink coffee with her teacher friends). When we would go to ask her what we are meant to do or to ask for help because no one knew what we were doing she would tell us that we need to problem solve and ask our peers or just straight up ignore us. Then when 75% of the class failed she would lecture us on effective studying and how we were “slacking off”. So you see, I would be thoroughly grateful to have a teacher who actually taught.

Your students are very lucky. Our notes when we went over this didn’t even have the vertex formula on them the teacher just kinda mentioned it once and expected everyone to memorize it. I could probably dig up the notes and take a picture for proof.

I hate to say this but if a student asks "how did you get 2a" the answer was "Because that's the formula for... That was in your last class notes", is a terrible response... Obviously the student didn't get the importance of that formula and it should've been reiterated... This is definitely why I never got math either... teachers who dismiss a student's honest question with a shitty attitude. #BadFormSir
