Jason has always been my favourite (unpopular opinion I know) I love the episode where they were both working together during a day in stars hollow, he felt like the only one who matched her ambition and understood her complex relationship with her parents
I really do think that, at that time in Lorelai's life, Jason was a good match for her. They just don't fit together for the long run. And I feel so bad for him, losing his career, his reputation, and his girlfriend all in one go.
I love Jason. They really got along the best in some ways. In some ways, it doesn't matter whether Lorelai ends up with Luke, Christopher, or Jason (any of whom the writers were capable of writing as end game if they wanted) [or insert your fave] because the love story on the show for Lorelai is Rory.
I liked Jason as well. He was a great match for her. I don't think she was ever in love with him though. I didn't ever see that. I think he was in love with her. He clearly had a crush on her from when they were kids. Poor guy thought he finally landed his dream girl and then everything blew up on him. She was wrong to dump him when she did.
Luke will always be my favorite. I blame the writers for the stupid af April plot, but even then it shows how he's trying to be a good dad and succeeding.
Yeah, it made it feel as though her only purpose was to break them up instead of having Luke become a dad, but at least we get some nice scenes of Luke and April bonding and such.
@@yourlittlesistersproductions These shows always need to break the main couple up, which irritates me. I'd much rather see them go through issues and succeed. I will say it's in character for Luke and Lorelai to be bad communicators, but this made Luke look so bad and Lorelai awful for sleeping with Christopher when he wasn't aware it was a break up. I was so mad because I knew Luke needed time to figure out what she just sprung on him while he was working. The next day he immediately came to elope for her, and got hit with what she did. It hurts me and his face and hearing that truck door slam. Just... why hurt my fav Luke like that, Lor? XD
@@thatonedabifan I agree! I like it when shows are able to have couples stay together and keep the plot moving rather than making their break up a plot point. And I always feel so sad for Luke in that moment, truly heartbreaking.
@@yourlittlesistersproductions Indeed it is. My thing is, I get it Lorelai, but she's an awful communicator. She kept the fact that it bothered her so much mostly to herself. She then explodes on Luke at work and if I was in his position, I would also be like "look, I can't leave work. Calm down a bit and we'll discuss this later." And I get why that upset Lorelai, but immediately sleeping with Chris was not the answer. It was just such an annoying plot in general, even if I'm happy to see Luke be an awesome dad.
Cool, I didn't know that about The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel! I'm glad that what Amy Sherman-Palladino wasn't able to use in one show, she was able to put in another one.
Not getting why Lorelei had to end her relationship with Jason even though Richard was in the wrong is incredibly immature, she is not siding with her dad, she's removing herself from a very messy situation
I suppose I see it as weird, because she has had no problem in the past, or in the future, going against her parents and going no contact with them when they do things that are wrong and cross boundaries. And what her father does is really bad, he is ruining a man's career to save his own, and even her mother doesn't support him through this. But I totally see what you are saying about leaving a messy situation. It gets complicated when family is involved.
@@yourlittlesistersproductions Really, at this point, Lorelai would have to be committed enough to Jason to move with him where he found something, and, it wasn't at that point. (Actually, has there ever been a man Lorelai would love as much as she loves Stars Hollow?)
@@yourlittlesistersproductions Rory was in her first year of Yale which Richard and Emily were paying for and if Lorelai had picked Jason it would've put Rory in the middle for a boyfriend I never felt Lorelai was all that into. She liked him, but wouldn't upend her life for him as we see when she ends thing with him. I think if Lorelai is going to have a rift between her and her parents it will only be because it's something she feels is worth fighting for and Jason wasn't it.
I agree with you on all points. Luke is definitely the best choice for her and I am glad, the writers changed his character from being a woman to a man and love interest for Lorelai. I love their chemistry together and their constant bickering. I also really liked him with Lorelai in A year in life. At that point they were already together for a decade and it shows. I also liked Max a lot, thought, he never really fitted Lorelai. I can´t stand Christopher, but maybe more because I know how it feels when the father of your kid is just absent and doesn´t really care most of the time, so being a bad dad just degrades every men in my opinion.
I think luke was too good for her but was a good person. I like Christopher too. Not a lorelai fan so would put Jason with her as I didn't have strong feelings either way to him.
Luke is one of my favorite characters on the show, I'm so glad the writers added him in! Jason would have been an interesting choice for Lorelai, but I do think that they wouldn't last very long 🤔 I love hearing people's thoughts on Gilmore Girls, thanks for commenting!
I don't really feel that Lorelai and Jason needed to break up because Lorelai needed to get together with Luke is a compelling point -- or that there wasn't much left for their relationship, because there is always a version where there's more. :)
I will always be disappointed that we didn't see Luke and Lorelai's wedding in the original series. The sad excuse we got in AYITL was just awful. In my mind that's how the series should have ended; with their wedding.
when you think, you already saw the weirdest explanation for someone not watching a video.... but well, then I´ll just follow her instead, so there is no loose ;)

I was disappointed about almost everything in A Year in the Life 😢

Luke is a simp. I don't think Lorelai brought out the best in him. Christopher was more her equal, but the writers did him soooo dirty.
My next Gilmore Girls video is a deep dive all about Christopher, keep an eye out for it! I have enjoyed looking deeper into his character.
The wierd thing i got about jason was when having made love to lorelie that hethen sent her to another bedroom becouse he could only sleep alone
Yeah, that was a weird moment for sure. I understand why Lorelai was taken aback so much and kept trying to leave.
That's very cool that you're doing audio dramas!
Thank you, we love doing them, and we have more on the way!
Daisy makes me think of a character from another Palladino show, Susie from _The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel._ (Ironically played by the original Sookie.)

Agreed!
What about all the years with mia???
I don't know that we hear much, or anything, about her boyfriends while she is that young and living at the inn.
Do a video on Christopher! I hate him.
I am working on one as we speak! Keep an eye out for it.
"Do a video on Christopher! I hate him." lova that comment x'D
That avatar in your video is WAY too big and it is annoying to see there. I'll stop watching for that.
Sorry to hear that.
