Yakisoba is what I HAVE to eat, when I am dying for a pizza. Let me explain. Yakisoba is SO not filling and it makes you hungry 10min after you eat it. So when I am too full to have a whole large pizza because I had a burger just few hours ago, I just eat Yakisoba. Problem SOLVED! I just wait 15min and I feel hungry again. So hungry that I can eat two large pizzas. I think that all that yakisoba is useful for.

Hi David! I hear often from my readers that they thought it's too scary to cook Japanese food before because it seems mysterious. LOL. Japanese main ingredients are pretty similar, so once you have them, you can make many dishes. I hope my RUclips channel and blog will help you cook more Japanese food at home (and they taste better than restaurants!) ;)

I went to the Summer festival in Japan and had street yakisoba. I'm always disappointed when I go to Japanese restaurants in America because their yakisoba uses different vegetables. Same with the large pork Gyoza and kareage from Osaka Osho. I fell in love with it and no American restaurant has the same delicious taste.... I may be homesick for Japanese food.

That's because no one makes it here. Most Japanese restaurants are more a formal place. Yakisoba is what is known as a street food. Kinda like an outdoor little cook stand at a fair where you get your $5.00 heart attack food only much better. I gotta go back to Japan now damn it. I'm hungry again. Thanks. Hahaha.

The amount of sauce is the result of "easier to measure" amount. You can adjust the amount of sauce based on the amount of meat/veggies - I don't want everyone to go through not having enough sauce toward the end of cooking. I think I mentioned that in my written recipe (www.justonecookbook.com/yakisoba/).

Feedback from the crowd please. What would you use in place of ketchup. I CAN NOT stand ketchup. I am probably the only person that puts Tobasco sauce on his french fries. Thank you for your input. Thank you 'Nami' for another educational video.

@@tonisanchez3428lol my daughter would be devastated if she was allergic to tomatoes. That said. Try something similar if your allergic then shouldn't eat BBQ sauce.

I know this is sort of a late reply, but I don't like ketchup either and I found something that might work just as well for this recipe. Huy Fong foods make a really delicious chili paste, You could use that for a base and use brown sugar instead of regular sugar to mimic the Ketchup. if you can't find that chili paste, Sriracha sauce should work just as well. Hope it helps, and thank you for your service!

We really enjoyed this dish too. You make it easy for others to make these delicious meals. You are one of the few people who actually does manage to make it so simple to follow so it is feasible to do and your time indications are true for a novice too. We are well impressed with all your recipies that we have tried so far. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I try to write more details in the step by step recipe on the blog, as it gets a bit too crowded if I start adding lots of caption here... but will think about it. :)

I’ve made this a couple of times now and it’s really good. I use Chinese black vinegar instead of Worcestershire sauce and it’s yummy!

I've always enjoyed Yakisoba, and this recipe turned out perfectly. I would advise using a Wok to cook it though. It makes it SO much easier.

thank you very much for your recipe! I have cooked Yakisoba using a different recipe, but I had to change few ingredients and I think it came out a bit different from the original recipe. It was really useful to see how you cut carrots and now I know that all the ingredients that I've seen in the other recipe are really classic, so I am inspired to try cooking it again the proper way.

Thanks for posting. It's nice to know I can make yakisoba sauce myself. I was told yakisoba noodles are close to vermicelli. We don't have accessibility for the noodle packets like we did in Japan.

Hi Heather! Hmm vermicelli is a bit different as they are made of rice as opposed to these noodles made of wheat flour. :)

I tried to make this on my own, and I was surprised that it came out so delicicious the very first time! I've never wanted to take the effort in cooking, BUT --> Once I mastered laying the ingredients out ahead of time, and the order in cooking --> It was easy and fun!
