      No. This is nothing like that. Brisbane was a come from behind win for Ind. No one gave Ind a legit shot until hey actually did it. Here, Aus has been in front pretty much every day in the series since the Perth test. Ind have just about kept themselves in the scheme of things. Even without Lyon, they were already over 250 ahead and that probably would have been enough even then.

      100%. It was quite ridiculous that he was not even attempting to take a single. He doesn't take the single and Bumrah gets out, and he still doesn't learn and lets Siraj front up. Doubt if they would have lasted the new ball but approach didn't show a lot of sense.
      Not to mention Bumrah having no idea where his off stump is and getting out repeatedly playing a ball at 6th stump, but he is a bowler and it is to be expected I guess.

    • @gustaaf1892
      @gustaaf1892 17 дней назад +5

      That LBW decision annoyed the crap out of me. The rules around DRS reviews for LBW are a joke because they are so inconsistent. It is already bad enough that the one ball can have two different review results depending on the initial decision by the central umpire, but the decision against Starc with the rejected Jaiwal LBW is a complete joke. Half the ball has to hit the stump, but for some reason the bails are not factored into that decision because they sit higher than the stumps even though the bails form part of the wicket and at least one has to be dislodged for bowled and run out decisions. If an "out" decision for LBW is reviewed by the batter and the ball is just nicking the very top of the bail, the LBW stands because the bails are factored into the decision, but when the bowler reviews a not out decision they aren't factored in. Make sense out of that if you can. The ICC needs to review everything about DRS and make things more consistent.

Under the protocols the third umpire didn't need to check snicko at all, indeed all it did was muddy the waters.

Carey's just had one of the all-time great keeping calendar years with 46 dismissals at a rate of >5/test - a rate which has only been achieved 3 times previously (Haddin & de Villiers in 2013 & Boucher in 1998). This series showed why KL Rahul will always be a mediocre batsman. People said he is in red hot form and all he has to showcase is a couple of 70+ scores. Smith and Head were almost out of form before the series started and both of them hit a couple of 100+.
    Now the belle of the ball. Kohli isn't going to retire willingly from the Test team as it's not in his nature to give up. So he needs to be dropped and for that Indian Test Fans need to run online campaigns/ discussions/ trends. His influence comes from his power which comes from his brand. Exactly why he doesn't even play ugly shots coz 'To look good' is more important than grinding it out. Come 2025, it will be 6 years that Kohli has been a blight on the Indian Test Team. A freaking blight!

Even as he was losing partners at the other end, he kept going for those booming drives on the rise, playing and missing a lot in the process. What was the point of that? Adam, why did Pant try and blast Head? Um, it's Risbah Pant? He managed to last a whole session batting against his natural attacking instincts. Head comes on and he couldn't help himself. You can't understand that? He lives his life on the edge (nearly killed himself in a car accident). The fact that Pant is at no.5 is probably more a problem than you have analyzed. Also, no problem with the light? They had switched on the lights on in the 76th over. Jaiswal ...? Don't forget his probably already a bit mind-fucked about the team and where he is out after yesterday's dressing down from Rohit a couple of times. BTW, great analysis of the Jaiswal dismissal, but what about his umpire's call escape on the Starc LBW?

    That last session is a tough pill to swallow. Pant is going to get and deserve the brickbats coming his way. This is a temperament issue. Ind want him to be a Head type but Head makes big hundreds when he gets in. Pant is more a Carey type. Good for quick fifties and the occasional hundred, but not a reliable number 5, which is a very important position. He has made 20-30 most times he has batted but not one score above 50 this series. There isn't much new that can be said about Rohit and Kohli. I'm honestly kind of tired of repeating myself. Rohit probably looked the most comfortable he has looked all series today and I was really hoping he would bed in for a fifty at least. Dismissal was just kind of against the run of play. Kohli is the same old same old. You just know he will nick one sooner or later and he will look fine until then. Jaiswal showed grit again. Him, NKR, and Rahul along with Bumrah of course, are the only ones who will seemingly make it out of this series without being seriously scathed. Have to give huge plaudits to Cummins. If Bumrah is the freak of nature in the Ind side, Cummins is the same on the other end. Gets the vital wickets, makes the crucial runs, and captains well. He's pretty much the whole package as an Aus cricketer.

      How on earth the third umpire over rule the main umpire when the fact is the snicko is not working or not showing snicks, as per rule if no snicko then third umpire should follow the on field Umpire,while it is another point that jaiswal may have nicked the ball

      @@thiru_asc1 It is not a rule that the third umpire has to look at snicko. As Geoff explained, if there is a clear deflection then the third umpire is within his rights to use that as evidence that it is out.

    Australia has been BY FAR the better team. We were saved by the rain in the last test, but this time without weather they got their win. Virat and Rohit need to get on with things. I do think Virat has more cricket, more good cricket, in him, but if hes unable to stay at the crease, he is not contributing in any significant way. There are many others waiting in line to take that spot and maybe they won't settle in immediately, but thats better than Virat keeping a spot from youngsters.
    And Rohit is not a test player at all. He shouldn't be on our test team. We had a great balanced side without him in the first test with the right captain at the helm. I prefer the old Australian way of selecting the team and selecting the captain from the 11 players playing, rather than a player taking up space in the 11 just because they are the captain.

    Pant was seen as a future captain and the next in line Vice Captain. I think that dream is over now.
    Bumrah is certain to be captain after SCG, but it’ll be interesting to see who is the vice captain. Not a lot of options there. KL is terrible with leadership, Pant is brainless sometimes with batting/DRS. Wonder if it’ll be someone young like Jaiswal.

      He still found ways to contribute with two well taken chances. I think he holds his spot in the team with the win but I don’t agree with it. His career numbers in tests with bat and ball speak for themselves, it’s not great reading.
      Nothing against him, he’s had some great moments in all formats, but his output this series with bat and ball doesn’t justify a spot in the team.
