i bet the led motors add quite a bit of resistance at high throttle since the lights are between the motor itself and the esc wires and thats whats limiting your speed or making it feel like a lower kv
Hello mr. KababFPV... Very nice video. This video is one of the reasons why instead of building my first quad, I opted to just get the pnp version of the hawk 5 pro because I have zero experience with quads. Now I'm thinking that I should have got the BNF version lol. Anyway, do I need to solder the RX onto this drone or are there pins that I just can connect them to? If not I have to get a solder iron... I do have a FlySky RX i bought 2 years ago but never used... It has pins on it :)
I have to give Emax respect on the battery idea, honestly. A few extra grams or 5% less speed is worth the tradeoff to a lot of people. I mean aesthetics are part of the fun in this hobby - who doesn't want their quad to look cool? Would be nice to see some line of sight footage on the quad at dusk.
Looks fast! Have the Hawk5 and love it, I'm a fan of the mini Magnum stack too.. but I do wonder how much money Emax has made in H5 arms and canopy spares though sometimes
I've noticed The regular tattu batteries are lighter than any other equal battery for some reason, but seem to have less power as well, my 650cnhl batteries gives me the same flight times as 850 regular tattu batteries and are pretty close in size and weight. In has a battery helper so hopefully he'll answer your call.
Interesting interesting, I really like flying my Hawk 5 and it appears these ones use exactly the same arms? I always carry spares since I crashed and broke both the back ones. If I flew bandos I'd be looking at the Buzz but I'm more careful and I fly over grassland. What HD camera & how did you mount it on the Sport & Pro builds? They look ideal for installing a Tarsier or similar.
Good thinking. Theres a seat on top for what looks like people to print stuff to mount cameras. I just stuck my gopro on there and taped around the entire quad.
I took a proper look at their site, in the Pro & Sport product pages they're showing a GoPro 7 in a TPU mount attached to the top of the canopy - Are they nuts? I can't see that staying on for more than one crash!
What is your trick for capturing such great DVR footage. It doesn't fit a GoPro are you using a DVR? Action cam? I kinda like the He led motors that must be easy to spot when flying around with others.
i am seriously thinking of getting one for our group of kids as you know i teach.i think they would love it.we have wholesale aswell thanks to the kind people at emax.how good is it brother
I have a couple of those gnb batteries and they are great. Better than the older 2.0 version tattu I have. Haven't tested against the 3.0 r line though. Been meaning to pick a couple up
People are always hating on GNB but ,I for one love and prefer GNB batteries..I literally still have a single 4s gnb battery from 2016 and it still works.. Albeit i use it for things like a soldering iron on the field but hey it does the job.. I've had numerous r lines that lasted only one season and that's it..Tattu R- lines always produce the most punch tho no disagreements there lol..👍👍
Hey Bob, I got lucky and got the last 4 amaxino motors from the EUROPEAN amaxino Shop. Unfortunatly the gemfan 3018 where out of stock already... Any prop recommendations for them? I've got a 3" frame (Speed Racer Twig) and try to go light weight, durable and effizient. I don't need craaazy top speeds rather smooth controll and reliability;) And as close to germany as possible would be nice of course Thanks! PS.: I Put the comment Here again because i wasnt sure if you would read the answers on the other one.
I fell for your 1s toothpick frame and some of the quads fallowed, I also have thought of E-Max as not a racing build but for new bees to learn on. I would like to know is, can the motor LED's change color r,g,b or are they only white. Last on the Tattu and the GNB , I fell in love with GNB the first time I flow it. I have all ways look for them first when I need to order new one's. Thanks !

wat!? We're out of props!? I just ordered more yesterday so they should be here in just a couple days but last I checked there were a few hundred bags left.
@@Kabab oh gosh my fault. I forgot to write that mean the european warehouse. Im from germany and i need props for the 1303 motors. Sorry i didn't Want to shock you😁😌
I definitely would want to see that Racer-5 Lite with a 5S 1300mAh battery - should absolutely rip, and with some very light throttle limiting, be rock solid. Ditto - the 1900KV should be mint.
I also had a venom 1500 90c that was ever more on weight but captainvanovor was working said I wouldn't notice it he was right really like them plus they get stable very fast after I fly I check to see how each cell is doing to ells alot about a battery
I am fairly new to the sport so I may be way off! The discharge rate on those 1300mah tatu batteries is 75c and the GNB 1000mah is 120c / 1250mah is 130c. That is pretty noteworthy! right?
@@Kabab I fly GNB 1250mah and the r-line v3 1300mah, same weight. Both great batteries but the tattu are slightly better, I can pull at least 100mah more out of them with less sag near the end. And the GNB have a weird shape I don't like
For those who still have 4S electronics, do you have any advice on what to do with the 'old' stuff? Is it just toss it in the trash or do you have other uses for them? I've got about a dozen opto escs(20-25A) and a bunch of F3 boards that I don't know what to do with anymore.
KababFPV but having to deal FCs that don’t take vbat voltage, no osd and having to use the old school PDBs is No fun. Doable. I’m missing the new features and hardware.
In love. I’m still racing my Hawk 5 a year and a half later. I love that quad I can’t break the damn thing. I wish I could luck out and get Emax to send me one of these since I literally have bought every quad they have made with the exception of the babyhawk 4”. The Hawk 5 has put me on the podium in 6 of 9 races I used it in the last year even going against some 6s guys. I just love how it flys even on the stock betaflight 3.2 with the pids tuned slightly more than what Emax hd it just flys perfect no matter what prop I put on it. Even better my motors are still good after all this time and a few hundred or more packs thru them. I just love that quad.
bakkiepleur_fpv not really. I have pushed and destroyed numerous quads. Just the hawk 5 I honestly have not been able to break. Now I haven’t had major crashes with it but it has taken quite a few hard hits.
Yes to battery that's what I was saying about when I went to venom 1300 75c everything got fast smoother motors sounded crisp flight time was around 4 5 minute
Hehe, those non r line Tattu are really crappy. They sag so soon you can really only use them for slow cruising. The r lines are fine tho. Funny to see that even someone like you makes these mistakes and orders the wrong batts. Kudos for stating this, we all make errors. The Emax pro looks nice and if shipping will ever happen, I'm gonna be testing one soon too. Partly the reason for me to accept it was your good opinion about emax! Greets, Mario
I make loads of mistakes all the time :-/ I'm a really big fan of GNB these days. It's hard to handle multiple brands product lines. GNB strikes a really good balance of cost and performance so far I think
@@Kabab I have one 1350mah 6cell GNB - flew it down to 0% on accident - barely made it back to my landing pad. was down to 15 or 16v I guess :) was able to charge it again - looks fine, no puff. We'll see how it performs now after this mishap. The 1350mah tho - they are overstated - I charged 1250 in it... greets, Mario
Please Betflight doods, as Kabab said, please add a switch to shut off all beeper switches. I have to click 49 tabs every time I set up a new quad. Or have them all shut off by default. But please add this feature!
The new fc firmwares allow perfect scaling of power output to the motors so now you can just scale a 2650kv 4s rig to fly at 65% capacity and throw on a 6s battery instead of replacing your motors to like 1700kv. What are your thoughts on this? Wild willy posted a video about it today in case what I said is confusing.
when limiting output, the quad still revs higher during control changes and draws lots of amp bursts still because the motors can spin up. They may be limited but the instant draw is still high. It also does something to the performance if you limit it too much but I can't really explain what very well. It's weird and changes from motor to motor. Enough minor issues for me to say I prefer the right kv to begin with....
@@JosueFPV could the tones smoke the motors though, higher voltage means more power, you ever plugged a 2s into a 6s quad? You cant even hear the motors.... What about the other way around.....
yes I have had tones smoke motors but that was a long time ago when they first added that feature. Not sure it's an issue anymore but I still turn my tones down
Awesome quads. I still use my Hawk 5. But honestly, I'm at 297 grams with 2307 2500kv motors and the 6" arms...... 🙄. I do feel emax could have put slightly more powerful motors on the new hawks. 2500 for the 4s and 1800 - 1900 for the 6s would be perfect.
? There's no such thing as 240C. Not even 120C. 75C isn't even that believable. Battery ratings are all mostly fake. Consider them relative to each other from the same brand. Not between brands
@@Kabab I agree completely. So for a relative comparison of equivalent performance from different manufacturers maybe Tattu R-Line would be a better match for that GNB? Sorry if I offend, that's not my intent. I certainly appreciate your opinions, candor, and contributions to the hobby. Just surprised to see what seemed like apples to oranges.
@@cyberdronefpv comparing between companies doesn't really work. You can only really compare relative ratings within one company. But each company will usually have a mid and top tier battery
@@Kabab exactly - FYI the ratel has horrible latency - that literally varies as you fly. You don't notice it until you fly gates - like 3 feet from the gate - It's like you just can't line up. Its the variable latency that is what's really bad.
I completely understand why you critique these companies so hard now. I just had a brand new set of eachine ev800ds go dead mid flight and am out 100 bucks. To some that might not be a lot of money but I’m a disabled vet on a fixed income. I support Bob smashing companies for making crap products now.
5s is a great compromise but 6s is the max standard that most chargers will charge. So might as well just go all the way. That's literally the best reason for it. For racing, the 6s really does help to maintain voltage however that's probably the only instance it matters at all
Aren’t these frames made of layers of carbon fiber, in which case one layer’s fiber direction wouldn’t matter as much, because the next is perpendicular? Or are they doing something different I’m not aware of? Anywaaaay... this quad reminds me of one of my faves... the Babyhawk R 3”. Even though I’m a top loader guy, I do really enjoy mine! Oh yeah! The lights are sweet!! Chicks are gonna Dig that!! Ha ha
The perpendicular nature of each sheet is the whole point. If you cut the frame such that you need it to be strong in the diagonal direction from the layup, then it will not be very strong
KababFPV Hey wait... I’m starting to see why some people think a little flexibility is a good thing. Like... maybe splitting the difference is a good thing. To be honest... it’s a little much (technical) to hash out in comments, here, so I’ll stop. Ha ha ... ... Thanks for your response, though! I will say this, though. Ask the Girls what they think! Lol You know... under which layer directional characteristics does it make a better bottle opener? At least we will get that worked out. Ha ha ha
The regular Tattu 75C isn't that great. Same on the smaller ones, the Tattu 650mAh 75C has more voltage sag than GNB 550mAh. Tattu R-Line is much better than the regular 75C, but these are more expensive.
@@Kabab I have seen GNB send out care packages of like 100 batteries to some other reviewers. Maybe it's worth reaching out to them to see if they want to do something like that. Cause it would help a whole lot of you are testing batteries to have a good supply.
Dam I wish the pulsar motors came without the LEDs... Just received some xing-e 2208 1800kv... Terrible motors. Hot like a frying pan after a minute of hover... PIDs filters etc has no impact. Spent 2 weeks trying to get them to work. So they will never fly again... So I'm looking for new motors for heavy 5inch GoPro carrying 6s quads.
@@Kabab thanks for you advice but... they are on, I checked with blackbox and with three versions of BF... Lowered the cutoff frequency a lot. Put back notch filter to match the 210Hz peak i found on blackbox, soft mounted motors, fc and even the arms. Lowered the PIDs in absurdum. Ran the motors with props on from BF motor tab... Still getting hot. Ran two sets of motors on three different quads. Tested with both 6s and 4s. No difference! I have 9 motors and one of them is a 2450 incorrectly marked as 1800kv (QC on vacation?). I replaced it with an 1800kv immediately. I've done everything. I think the motors are from a bad batch.
@@Siamect that is very odd but helpful as well. Thanks for the details. I'll look into things. Sorry about the issues. Not sure what to do. Try the motors on another quad maybe?
I did try them on another quad. So I have two sets of motors and I ran them on three quads that was working fine with my old motors. I will return the motors to banggood.
What type of HD cam did you use for these quads ? and what's PID tunes you made ? I tried with my Hawk Pro and Hero 7 but it ended up with FTTM (Fly To The Moon) crash right after I gave a bit of throttle to take off. ruclips.net/video/1C4l2TpNz0A/видео.html I updated the quad with BF4.1.1 and stop using Air mode but it still have problem that motors and capacitors are almost burnt out. ruclips.net/video/oFgKCa_S0lU/видео.html
The issue you're having sounds like extreme noise somehow in the system. From vibrations usually. I just strap a GoPro session to the quad. Check the FC mounting.
@@Kabab Problem fixed ! I checked FC mounting and it seemed fine. Then I re-designed the camera mount with more conventional, lower profile. I tested and found there's no hot motors nor capacitors any more. Many thanks for your advice again ! ruclips.net/video/uHsCrL4Klu4/видео.html

Noboody had had any issues with race wire like that I don't think. This isn't different really.
Hello mr.
Looks fast! Have the Hawk5 and love it, I'm a fan of the mini Magnum stack too.. but I do wonder how much money Emax has made in H5 arms and canopy spares though sometimes
i found the tattu is lacking, i also noticed the emax 2207 2400kv on 4s does feel like a 2300kv. when you run them on 5s they perform great!
You forgot to remind me to floss 🥺😂😉 Great video! I’ve been meaning to switch to 6S for some time and I think I will soon now!
This is the sweet spot for anyone and the LED motors have some spunk
Interesting interesting, I really like flying my Hawk 5 and it appears these ones use exactly the same arms? I always carry spares since I crashed and broke both the back ones. If I flew bandos I'd be looking at the Buzz but I'm more careful and I fly over grassland.
What HD camera & how did you mount it on the Sport & Pro builds? They look ideal for installing a Tarsier or similar.
Yeah, I also wondered how he mounted the GoPro on that canopy! Also great video :)
@@licensetodrive9930 I would expect that sort of mount not to be intended for crashing.
@KababFPV Nobody intends to crash, except reviewers :)
Nice! "Higher C is more better..."👍 Great info.

i am seriously thinking of getting one for our group of kids as you know i teach.i think they would love it.we have wholesale aswell thanks to the kind people at emax.how good is it brother
I have a couple of those gnb batteries and they are great. Better than the older 2.0 version tattu I have. Haven't tested against the 3.0 r line though. Been meaning to pick a couple up
Nice to see that you got that hugely popular pc case the motif monument.
Small question: How was the build?
I'm gonna make a video about it when it's actually running properly. It's a very easy build but hard to keep everything clean and tidy
Can you show pics of how you mounted the session on that canopy please?
lol no :-D. I just put it on top and taped around the entire quad and battery
Hey Bob,
I got lucky and got the last 4 amaxino motors from the EUROPEAN amaxino Shop. Unfortunatly the gemfan 3018 where out of stock already...
Any prop recommendations for them? I've got a 3" frame (Speed Racer Twig) and try to go light weight, durable and effizient.
I don't need craaazy top speeds rather smooth controll and reliability;)
And as close to germany as possible would be nice of course
Thanks!
PS.: I Put the comment Here again because i wasnt sure if you would read the answers on the other one.
I am slowly switching over to 1100 6s gnbs and they are amazing. Also decently priced.
Thanks !
They're white so they come with different colored skirts to change the color
@@Kabab Thanks

Class act in the polite call-out! Great question to ask and much respect on the way that was done! Very interested in those results!!
Fantastic flying and review, Bob! 😃
About batteries, GNBs are amazing! Oh, and Caddx is too. 😝
I am fairly new to the sport so I may be way off! The discharge rate on those 1300mah tatu batteries is 75c and the GNB 1000mah is 120c / 1250mah is 130c. That is pretty noteworthy! right?
Typically C ratings are totally bogus and pointless to even consider. In this case, I just didn't get the highest performance tattu by accident
@@Kabab Tattu R-Line Version 3.0 22.2V 6S 1300mAh 120C LiPo Battery - XT60 would be the one you want to compare the GNB
ONLY wonder what is the BEST Google to use for this Drone ?
DJI goggles and fpv is the best to use by far. I don't really recommend anything else anymore
I have not been happy with the non R-line tattu 6s 1300mah. The voltage sags much more than my RDQ (GNB) or CNHL batteries.
I'm gonna get some to test but I suspect the r-line isn't going to be much different and the GNB packs are really fantastic
I've got about a dozen opto escs(20-25A) and a bunch of F3 boards that I don't know what to do with anymore.
why toss it? Keep using it. Just build to 6S if you're building anything new.
If you never broke something means that you dont push it to the limits 😛
bakkiepleur_fpv not really.
Quads for breakfast...How early in the morning is this flight? You always stoke my quad addiction.
it was later in the day just around sunset after work
@@Kabab Awesome, Thx for the reply. Its always fun seeing what your testing.

Does the mini magnum stack have m3 or m2 screws? Looking at the video it looks like m3.
What did you use to record the flights? Doesn't look like you could put a gopro on those?
It's a GoPro. I just stuck it on the seat and taped around the entire quad
Emax Hawk pro Or Nazgul 5 ?
What one would you get ?
Nazgul 5
@@Kabab I have one 1350mah 6cell GNB - flew it down to 0% on accident - barely made it back to my landing pad.
was down to 15 or 16v I guess :)
was able to charge it again - looks fine, no puff.
LOL it's literally 49 damn tabs. Drives me NUTS! So I just avoid beepers altogether
isn't internal resistance a good battery benchmark?
Not really since it varies a lot with all conditions.
Ive been thinking about this! Do you think there is any way it might have trouble with tones and stuff like that?
Trouble with tones???? No dude. Tones will be the same. My question is just regards to power and efficiency.
when limiting output, the quad still revs higher during control changes and draws lots of amp bursts still because the motors can spin up.
Not sure it's an issue anymore but I still turn my tones down
How does the footage look so good... That doesn't look like DVR... But I fail to believe you put a GoPro on that thing...
yep it's a gopro
Awesome quads. I still use my Hawk 5. But honestly, I'm at 297 grams with 2307 2500kv motors and the 6" arms...... 🙄. I do feel emax could have put slightly more powerful motors on the new hawks. 2500 for the 4s and 1800 - 1900 for the 6s would be perfect.
Is the battery part comparing a 120/240C LiPO with a 75C LiPO?
Nice flying...dusk footage would have been cool! Thumbs up.
You need to talk about the latency of cameras for racing builds - it makes a big difference - needs to be sub 10MS.
Predator is what should be used for racing. as far as I know it's the lowest latency cam still and has the best HDR/light handling
@@Kabab exactly - FYI the ratel has horrible latency - that literally varies as you fly. You don't notice it until you fly gates - like 3 feet from the gate - It's like you just can't line up. Its the variable latency that is what's really bad.
@@josephrsalexander4589 so I've heard. It looks great however
I wonder if the 1300mah on it is even correct, because the 4s 650mah from tattu is a 500mah at its best
How much mAh did you get out of the GNB with the battery being at 3.7 after recovery time?
I don't pay close attention to that. I focus on the voltage and flight time. This was about 2:30
Excellent review! Thanks for your insights!
Joshua probably sold the equipment.... It's his full time job ya know

Hi, can you tell me what lens they put on the pro version? I understand it's an emax branded ratel, is it 2.1mm or 1.66?
1.66 is what you want.
@@Kabab Is that the one that comes on the hawk though?
@@leehudson1384 I believe so. The 2.1 lens is far far far narrower.
The lights are cool... it's not much weight. I want many other companies to start doing this. Best LED positioning ever. 😎🤣
I completely understand why you critique these companies so hard now. I just had a brand new set of eachine ev800ds go dead mid flight and am out 100 bucks. To some that might not be a lot of money but I’m a disabled vet on a fixed income. I support Bob smashing companies for making crap products now.
RGB ALL THE THINGS!!!!
I`m suprised they didn't call it a toothpick somehow... Lol.. 👍🏻🍻👊🏻
how can these companies put out new models very fast?..i thought the fpv market is not that big,
That LED though is dope!!!
People use R-Line and its lighter than that old 75c pack...and the 3.0 Rline packs are even lighter than the old R-line packs.
Why not consider 5s as a compromise? I’m a noob, I have no clue...
Lol
You know... under which layer directional characteristics does it make a better bottle opener? At least we will get that worked out. Ha ha ha
Bro pls tell me can I use this motor in my normal hexacopter pls tell me
it depends what your overall drivetrain design is and what it's being built for but yeah it could of course be used for a hex if desired.

The regular Tattu 75C isn't that great. Same on the smaller ones, the Tattu 650mAh 75C has more voltage sag than GNB 550mAh. Tattu R-Line is much better than the regular 75C, but these are more expensive.
